Great ambience but a little noisy. Great drinks!
Food was really good. The portions are not big but but the presentation is perfected and the flavor. Those devil eggs with the salmon in it was to die for. The drinks were awesome.
We enjoyed a fine dining experience with good service by Chelsea. The food was nicely presented, hot and tasty. The wine I selected was just right. The salad was fresh and good. We enjoyed a delicious dessert. We have been to Alchemy times before and will definitely return.
The hostess was not very friendly. I had booked on open table and put we wanted low sitting when she took us to the high setting area I asked her if we could be moved and that I requested low sitting she seemed very put out.. after that it was all up hill . Our waiter was wonderful and food was good..
We all shared small plates. As vegetarians we found a lot of choices.
Always enjoy Alchemy! The food and drinks are always awesome and the experience is always great!
One of the best restaurants in Memphis!!!
Brilliant concept...cozy but vibrant. Server was terrific.
We love Alchemy. The menu is fantastic, and the ambiance is great for midtown. Our server was very nice.
Celebrating friends being in town for the weekend, we chose Alchemy and it was spot-on! From drinks and appetizers, to dinner and dessert, the food was fabulous. Many of us ended up sharing or at least trying each other’s food choice. The only problem we had was not being able to choose a favorite. We were seated in the back of the dining area and had no problem hearing one another at our table of 7. The No Name #4 cocktail of watermelon purée and champagne was delightfully refreshing. My shrimp tacos were delicious. My 16 year old loved the soup and grilled cheese. The steak was perfect, the potatoes yummy and very different, and the shrimp and grits was an excellent southern choice. We will definitely return SOON!
Food was good but a bit pricey for the portions but the quality was good. Service was a bit slow at times yet felt rushed at other times
Food was delicious; drinks were amazing; enjoyed trying something new
Alchemy was amazing! Great food and drinks.
The only thing missing was service. Our waiter (I think Justin was his name) was VERY inattentive to our table of 4, and it was very frustrating. If it was a packed house I could understand, but it was even near packed. So I hope something is done in regards to that.
Alchemy is one of the only places in Midtown that will take reservations for Sunday Brunch. My party was somewhat fluid--people coming and going--so we shared the small plates. The staff was super accommodating and the food and service were wonderful! First time I have had brunch there and I will definitely be back!
First beautiful weekend in Memphis with no rain. Love having brunch here. Always wonderful.
I do love this place. Everything were so nice. Their happy hour offers are outstanding. Great beer selection and very delicious tapas.
Popped in here on a business trip to Memphis, quite by accident. Late Friday evening and this was the first place that looked good. Excellent find. Food was very good with some interesting choices that were tasty. Drink menu was interesting as well. I found myself trying to come up with an excuse to go back, throughout the weekend.
My wife and I chose Alchemy for our anniversary dinner based on the recommendation of friends. We arrived at 1900 and were seated at a high top immediately. The waiter was prompt and attentive, and the drink menu is extensive. Our chosen seasonal cocktails arrived promptly and were delicious. They are moderately expensive, but no more so than any number of similar establishments in the area. They get an A+ as a cocktail/tapas bar. The dining menu, on the other hand, was somewhat lacking. Perhaps it was lack of research on my part, but I expected a more extensive menu. Instead, the best options were small plates to share, which was fine, but not what I'd hoped for as an anniversary dinner location. I think you'd be safe with any of the small plates and drinks, but I would opt to dine elsewhere for a proper dinner. Simply my opinion, and as with most things, your mileage may vary.
THE FORMER ALCHEMY HAD LOTS OF CHARACTER--NOW ZILCH--I AM A FOODIE AND IF I
SAY THE FOOD ,ESPECIALLY , THE FRIED CAULIFLOWER, WAS TERRIBLE , IT WAS.
THE MUCH TOUTED FRITES WERE TASTELESS AND HEAPED-TOO MANY FOR TWO
VERY UNATTRACTIVELY. A BAD CHOICE FOR AN OUT OF TOWN VISITOR,S INTRO TO
THE MEMPHIS FOOD EXPERIENCE. MARGARET LESTER--MEMPHIS
Enjoyed their Sunday brunch service. Everything was excellent, but special mention must be made of the Breakfast Potatoes. Crispy and flavorful and topped with a poached egg, Benton ham, and hollandaise sauce. Best potato dish in Memphis!
Excellent food and service!!!
Our server was Taylor and she was terrific
Food is mediocre at best
Sliders had stale buns
Wedge salad was no big deal
Fish tacos were best
Simply and always a wonderful meal and experience!
Had a great time! Can't wait to go again. Happy hour is the best in town.
Grilled cheese and tomato soup were excellent. Chris was great to us. I've been here a few times and enjoyed them all. Only downside: it's a little noisy, not that I can reasonably expect y'all to fix that.
Easter Brunch. Very average food and very overpriced. Service was slow.
Excellent brunch!! Loved all the food and drinks!!!
Went to alchemy for Easter brunch. They had a price fixe menu. Food was tasty, service was exceptional and brisk. I tried a drink that they had for brunch that I really didn’t care for and they gladly took it off the bill.
Both the menu and the cocktails are promising. Great location
Great server, delicious food and good ambience and prices
Great brunch! The food and drinks were really good, and the manager Justin was extremely nice, welcoming and helpful! He really pushed our experience over the top!
I've heard great things about Alchemy and finally got a chance to get over there on Saturday. I really wanted to like it, but overall it just didn't excite me. The service manager was polite and attentive to other guests, but our server was just "mailing it in." No specials were mentioned and we were given the "Fall and Winter" cocktail list --which was uninspiring at the end of March. The chile fish tacos were ordinary shrimp tacos and the sliders were room temperature. Dessert was ok, but nothing about this evening was exceptional. No one wished us well on the way out and as I sit here I can't think of a reason to go back.
It was a slow Saturday; I'm sure the staff was just ready to get home but I expected so much more and they let me down.
What a wonderful wonderful place. Had a Girls Night out & saw this place on line, WELL It was FABULOUS..... The appetizers were the Best part...
will go again for sure
Great food and service
Cocktails are great. Food always on point. Never disappoints!
The service was great. The food was very okay. We had 3 small plates (Brussels, truffle deviled eggs, and crab fondue) and then their “steak.” Brussels tasted steamed with little to no flavor at all except the random bits of bacon. The truffled eggs we okay but kinda dry and the crab “fondue” was very much a dip... it was in no way a fondue. The steak said it came with an onion glaze, friend onion, and blue cheese butter. The steak came with a thick gravy on top of it and it tasted like a hungry man Salisbury steak from the frozen food section and the onions were stale.
I had a whiskey flight, which was very good, but then after that my date and I decided to try a specialty cocktail. She enjoyed hers and I enjoyed my first one. However, the second time I ordered the same drink it was completely different.
Besides the service I was extremely disappointed with the drinks and food as a whole. I may come back for a cocktail and just hope I don’t get hungry.
Had a great time. The food was terrific. The atmosphere was electric. The service was top notch. David, Justin, the manager and Bethenny our server went above and beyond to provide us the best experience. We'll be coming back often. Thanks!!
My wife and I decided to try this restaurant for brunch after church Sunday. Once we were seated, our waitress brought us water and we asked a couple of questions about the menu. When she came back to take our order we asked for straws for our water. Ten to fifteen minutes later, someone brought over crab cake Benedict’s to our table and we informed her that we did not order that. She took it back and then came back a few minutes later and said that there was a mixup in the kitchen and that my wife’s order (Fried chicken Benedict) would be up shortly. Right after she left the table my order (Pan Seared steak and eggs) came out. I ordered my steak medium rare and this steak was either not fresh or it was over cooked. I’m 99% certain that it was just simply not fresh because the beef was a dull red instead of a bright red. I managed to finish my entire meal before anyone ever came back to our table to update us on my wife’s meal. When the young lady, who brought out the first incorrect meal, realized that my wife still had no food she stopped and asked “You still haven’t gotten your food yet.” She then proceeded to go check on it and about 5 minutes later it was out. By this point both of our experiences were ruined. My wife cut into her chicken that was dry and hard and decided that she could not eat it. There was never any apology of any sort for our lack of service we received on our visit nor for the horrible food. We will not return to this restaurant.
Very nice place and we enjoyed the atmosphere and service but the was a little off this night.
