Located on the fifth floor of the JW Marriott hotel in Edmonton’s ICE District, Alchemy features an intimate indoor cocktail bar and lounge, as well as a large heated patio overlooking Rogers Place. Not the best experience to watch the playoff games and the service hit or miss during busy hours. Other than that, the space is beautiful and the drinks are good!

I liked the Price Fix menu with Quesadillas or slider option perfect with a pair with another appetizer! Delicious!

Nice snacks. The cocktails are okay, but nothing special. Not sure it’s worth $20-$25 for a cocktail, but that’s the area. We should have sat outside, but no seating was available. There were actually a lot of empty tables, but they were booked.

The layout posed an issue for the real speakeasy experience. While waiting to get in, patrons were coming in and put through the bookcase to use the restroom which took away from the mystery for first time speakeasy-goers. The check-in staff were great and we were promptly seated. Had the grilled cheese bites which were delicious, and the meat and cheese tray which was nice but a little small for the price and the cracker and grape quality could have been better. I was very happy with the cocktails and the music. There were a few very boisterous groups but the ambiance improved after they left. The table we were seated at was a little worn down and could have been re-stained, but all the other furniture looked really high quality and nice. The view was good, the patio was closed, but the overall feeling inside was nice. I wished the wait staff were slightly friendlier and more attentive as I am use to, but they may have had a lot going on. The washrooms, when it came to that, were quite dirty and didn’t seem to be well tended to. Clearly they were cleaned that night but not regularly as the night went on. Overall, I would come again but I gave it 3 stars overall as this type of venue is done better elsewhere and I think a few slight adjustment's could bring it closer to 4 or 5 stars. The cocktails are fire and the menu is great, the wait staff and the layout/maintenance let it down slightly

The service at the door was amazing. We arrived early and the host found us a place to sit, looking over the city lights until our table was ready.

We had very high expectations based on what we had been told by others and unfortunately it fell short as soon as we walked through the bookcase. Where we were seated was right by the door which was a lacklustre location and disappointing as the atmosphere and design element was why we wanted to check it out. The drinks were ok and the food was below average. There was nothing wrong with the drinks but we’ve been to other cocktail bars in Edmonton where the drinks are absolutely mind blowing and truly unique. Also dried flower petals that garnished the Flower Power drink were very unpleasant. The chicken bao stuck to the cast iron it was presented on and fell apart when you picked it up and could not compare flavour wise to an establishment that serves very similar food only a few blocks away. The beef tataki lacked flavour and unfortunately was boring. We really wanted and expected something unique from the experience and it did not deliver. However, our server was good and very nice. Our food and drinks were delivered within a respectable time after ordering.

For what I think would be a high-end cocktail bar in the heart of downtown, it was rather disappointing. We walked in and as soon as we sat down we were asked "Do'ya know what you want?"... there's a wide range of cocktails we can pick from, which is great. They were delicious and well priced. Then we were wanting to order a snack,so we decided to order the "meat and cheese" for $30. It was probably the worst thing I've ever ordered from a restaurant- it looked so cheap, the cheese looked like it was taken from a bag and put on a plate, the meat looked like something you got from a gas station while on a long road trip and the triangle corn chips looked ( and tasted) like they were purchased from the local Bianca Amores. Definitely not worth it. Overall it was a nice time, but very dissatisfied with the food- ended up going elsewhere.
