Great ambiance, good food, service was pretty slow but think they’ll perfect this over time.
Loved this place! Great atmosphere and we really enjoyed the food.
Nice atmosphere with good service and great food.
Great food. The stark grow lights in the front window are misplaced and weird. Not welcoming at all.
What an incredible experience at this new restaurant in Royal Oak. The vibe is so relaxing and the bar has so much character and charm. The food is a blend of eclectic and Asian and simply delicious. The service is first class and the owner is highly visible to assure your satisfaction. We live downtown and this is such a great addition to downtown Royal Oak. I urge you to try it.
Food was outstanding in every way, excellent service
Loved the food. The presentation was awsome.
the atmosphere was great with the music.
Third visit. Alchemi is now on our regular restaurant rotation. Try it. You'll be glad you did! Craft cocktails are amazing.
4 of us dined there on Sat night. The interior is interesting. Big bar, spaced out tables. We tried the Amish cheese + bread and the Thai ribs as apps. Both were delicious. Crusty house made sourdough and an addictive pot of creamy cheese dip and 4 tender ribs with a sweet spicy sauce. We tried the Shrimp Lobster pad Thai entree and it was full of big shrimp and topped with a 1/2 tail. It also had glazed roasted peanuts vs the normal sprinkle of crushed. Also got the Indian salmon which I’m told was good. The hit of the night was the vanilla and cinnamon infused smoked Old Fashioned cocktail. Other cocktails we interesting and delicious. Also highly recommend the creme brûlée with cherry sugar topping. All was beautifully prepared and the service was unobtrusive but efficient. All in all a very nice experience. I highly recommend Alchemi!
It was fabulous the drinks were great
Great food, drinks and service. Awesome experience.
First, the food was great! The owner and head chef Johnny stopped by and we told him so ! Service was also great. One recommendation is that they hire a decorator. At the very front of the restaurant by the windows they have fluorescent lights for their herbs that they have growing there across the entire section and it gives off a very uninviting vibe. Sitting at the bar and looking at it is not at all appealing or charming. I get that they want to use the light from the windows and maybe show off that they use fresh ingredients but there has to be a more pleasing way to display it at the front of your space. Otherwise, it was great food and I will be back.
I was surprised this was the old Mr. B’s although it did still have that “dirty mop water” smell to it. That was overall the worst part of the experience for me. However the food and drinks were pretty good. Presentation was the best. Service was great. Shelby, our server was a sweetheart and did a wonderful job. I would come back- hopefully they wash the walls to get that smell out!
Great food, fun and creative drinks and great service. Just what Royal Oak needs, can’t wait to go back!
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed both the food and cocktails. The food was much more elevated than your typical royal oak bar.
Wonderful addition to downtown RO! Outstanding one of kind cocktails with creative presentations. Delicious dishes. The Lobster and Shrimp Pad Thai is a must try! Best meal I have had in a while. Classy and comfortable atmosphere. Good service. Truly looking forward to the next visit 😋💛😋
Give this restaurant a try The main thing is that the food is excellent!!! It’s a new restaurant and has small kinks to workout but try it you won’t be disappointed in the food. Johnny the chef has put his heart and tears into this place. It’s not easy finding any concept in royal oak with covid that will work. You see the store fronts empty!??! This guy rocks. It’s so hard right now. Go support the local businesses I feel for these people.
Bar service was incredibly slow. Waited over 20 minutes. The place did not appear crowded, so this wait time was not acceptable. Ordered a second round and was not delivered u til after most finished dinner.
Our second visit to this relatively new dining venue did not disappoint. The burnt ends and agave bacon skewer appetizers were both deliciously different. The seared NY strip and Michigan lamb ragu main courses - which were big enough to share - were perfect. The food here is high quality and prepared a bit differently from most restaurants, all of which create a uniquely enjoyable dining experience. I must also give high praise to the entire staff who are always friendly and contribute positively to the dining experience. We will return! (Carol & Tom)
The service was phenomenal the Decour is definitely better than Mr. bs Webber the Food menu with very limited being limited it was still delicious I would recommend going
Everything we ordered which was a lot was very good. Can’t wait to go back
The newly designed space is tastefully done. We were immediately greeted by a masked staff member and shown to our table. The waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable, but our second drink order took longer than expected. We ordered the cevapi and we were not disappointed. They were delicious! The ribs were very good, but the sauce was a little overpowering. I recommend getting the sauce on the side. We also had the Alchemi salad. The salad was good, not excellent, and a bit overpriced ($17), although it was large enough to share. Overall, I recommend this place!
Our group of 4 left underwhelmed ! The decor is noncommittal to the vision ! Bartenders using barehands to put ice in cups. We tried several dishes nothing stood out.
Best steak I’ve ever had in Michigan. Also notable; the pad Thai and I love the burnt ends.
Great bartender and cocktails. Nice new addition to Royal Oak!
Very good food and drinks! Very reasonable price and good ambiance! Best value for price in Royal Oak. Highly recommend their cocktails. For mains, the salmon was out of this world and the lobster and shrimp pad thai was excellent. Save some room for the creme brûlée!
Food very very good and we enjoyed the cocktails and dessert
Atmosphere was great, food was excellent. Music was a little too loud and edgy in the Speak Easy
Eclectic dishes! Nice addition to Royal Oak & staff was hospitable!
Great evening! Great food! Wonderful drinks and great service!
Fantastic place. Chef Johnnie is starting something great in “the Oak”.
Planned on visiting a friend at the bar for some drinks but instead made a reservation for 4. We were sat early so we could get a cocktail. Typical royal oak prices ~$15 per cocktail & ~$7-18 for craft beer. But cocktails were tasty, the bar knows what they're doing!!
The reason for the low rating is result of poor service and overpriced food that didnt really live up to expectation.
First, service was extremely slow. Our reservations were at 7, we waited a while to order drinks or even be greated and we were one of 2 tables with 2 girls on the floor. The waitress was very unknowledgable about the menu and could not answer any questions about the food.
Second, we ordered 2 apps the ribs and the spring roll. There were 4 small ribs but the sauce on them were great and they fell of the bone and had good flavor. Spring rolls were tasty as well and enough for the 4 of us. My biggest issue was with our entrees. Three of us ordered the seafood pad tai, there was a very generous amount of shrimp, however, the lobster tails were tough and chewy. Normally this would be fine and we would deal but the worst part was all of our pad tai's came out VERY dry. To the point I'd say they forgot the sauce. The chef noticed while we were eating and brought out extra sauce, but it wasn't the same.
Altogether, I'll go back but to sit at the bar and maybe only for snacks.
What a wonderful new place. We were lucky to be there for the grand opening and it could not have been more enjoyable. Great atmosphere and a menu offering a number of unique choices. We tried the home-made lamb sausage and Amish bread appetizers and were not disappointed - very tasty. As steak lovers, we both ordered the NY steak and the unique way it was seasoned made it seem as if we had never had steak before - deliciously different. Most important, however, was the very friendly and accomplished staff which made the whole evening a fun-filled event. (Carol & Tom)
