We had seafood and scallops. The food was so delicious and generous portions. The views are amazing. It was a romantic setting but there were also a lot of families and kids.
Consistently delicious food and excellent service in a beautiful setting.
Yes. We never miss eating a chef special dinner at the Albion Inn restaurant whenever we go to Mendocino. Great service, reasonable prices and gourmet food.
We have visited the Albion River Inn for many years and are never disappointed in the excellent service and quality of food at the restaurant. The setting is spectacular and the facility is well maintained.
Fabulous view. Food was delicious. We will be back.
The tables are set so close together that when the waiter pours water for the neighboring table their elbows are in your ears. Very disappointing. We won't go back.
The restaurant staff eagerly welcomed us - the waiter was knowledgable in the wine list
T. We selected the 3 course chef menu - the Caesar salad was excellent then we had the pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes and vegetable medley and then finished with sorbet and chocolate mousse— planning to back the next I eat we are in Mendocino area.
Amazing views! Excellent food! Would definitely recommend.
We have been here a couple of times in the past, and absolutely loved it. However this time it didn't measure up. The menu choices were not inspiring, the food itself was fine but not great, and the service felt more like what you would get in a diner rather than a fine restaurant. Not sure what happened, but we'll try some other place on our next trip to Mendocino.
Terrific by all accounts.
Great for date or special occasion
All time favorite when in Mendocino, the Albion River In never fails to deliver a memorable meal.
The Albion River Restaurant is one of our favorite places to revisit on the Mendocino Coast. The food is consistently delicious, with fresh seafood, local produce, and comfort foods with a creative twist. Overnight guests enjoy a savory breakfast beyond the usual "B&B" options. There are always delicious options for vegetarians. The dining room is cozy, with beautiful views overlooking the ocean and gardens. Perfect for any occasion.
We were sending our good friends off to Italy for 3 weeks and celebrating their adventure to be. Everything was what we expected, very good food, good service in a cozy atmosphere.
What a great evening. From the setting and view to the meal and the wine it was perfect. The evening was highlighted by outstanding service. My party raved about every aspect and we highly recommend the grilled prawns and the mousse for dessert.
Dining here is a delight. The restaurant has a breath-taking view of the ocean and cove and especially beautiful at sunset. The food is excellent, thoughtfully prepared and neither over seasoned nor over- salted. The service is first-class.
Great food and large portions. The staff was very pleasant.
We love coming to the Albion Inn for dinner when we are on vacation in Northern California. It is our special date night together.
Albion River Restaurant is perfect down to each last detail. View, amazing. Atmosphere, quiet, romantic, peaceful with locals as well as tourists, lovely dining room, and warm, friendly service folk. Food is elegant and satiating, delicious and beautifully prepared. Everything just clicks. We had a wonderful dining experience.
The view is so outstanding that one can be forgiving about the food. The fresh fish was very nice but the chef put way too many ingredients on top of it for my taste.
The food was wonderful. The view was spectacular. The service impeccable. Will definitely return.
My wife and I went to Mendocino this weekend and this restaurant was recommended by the B&B we stayed at, Joshua Grindle Inn. The restaurant lived up to the recommendation. We had the Cod and Pork Shank. Both were excellent and the service was very good. We also has Ken Wright Pinot Noir from their wine selection which is one of our favorites. Great view of the ocean. We would highly recommend both the Albion River Restaurant and Joshua Grindle Inn for anyone planning a trip to Mendocino.
Besides errors in our food order, which were promptly attended to, the overall experience was just what we had in mind. Good salads and wine to enjoy while watching the beautiful sunset. Friendly, accomodating staff, comfortable and attractive atmosphere. Perfect spot to give my east coast visitor a taste of Mendocino coast.
The place and ambiance is very nice, ocean front, beautiful views. However, I was disappointed with the food. I took pasta with mushrooms and it was "cheap", not a homemade pasta, but simple one from Safeway, with cheap cheddar and a few tasteless pieces of mushroom floating in tomato sauce. Very everyday meal, nothing that I would expect from the 4,8 restaurant. On the bright side, cocktail I ordered was great and my husband's pork was delicious. I would take this pasta definitely off the menu.
Our meals were unsatisfactory, same with three different wines we tried. Meal presentation was not acceptable. I had New York Steak which was thrown on top of the mash potatoes and asparagus. The steak was very "chewable" (tough). Everything had to be pulled apart before the steak could be cut. We haven't been here in a couple of years now, so there my be different cook or owner. A screaming child was present which totally defeats the purpose of going out to a nice dinner to enjoy & relax.
The Albion restaurant was such a treat! The service was attentive and sensitive to our special anniversary celebration, giving us ample time to enjoy our beautiful ocean view, drinks and each course of our meal in our own time. We chose the enticing fish specials for our entrees, which included swordfish with perfectly sized and flavored sides and a white fish that was both tender and tasty. The chocolate mousse dessert was incredible. I am a chocoholic and the quality and depth of this silky dish was to die for! Although it was a bit noisy at times, this was no fault of the restaurant, we just happened to end up seated next to a table that had a tired little one whose parents tried diligently to calm him. It wasn't really a problem for us...but a challenge for the parents. Would highly recommend this restaurant to others and hope to return ourselves soon!
Always enjoy our meal at Albion River Inn when visiting Mendocino. Thanks!
This place was beautiful and the food was great. We attended happy hour at 5. Not a secret as many swooped in at same time. The bartender seemed completely unphased as to how many people came in at the same time. She was gracious and handled the small crowd very promptly. We would return if we were in the area again for sure.
The food was delicious and we had a lovely evening.
First time there but we will definitely be back. Great view, friendly staff and great food
My wife and I dine here every time we visit Mendocino. On this visit, we had dinner. The hostess sat us at the table next to the cozy fireplace. On previous occasions, we’ve sat at a table near or next to a window. During an anniversary trip 18 years ago, we got the corner table, great for a romantic dinner for two and definitely the best view. They also have a lawn area just outside the dining room which is accessible thru a door for photo opportunities.
The food has been great every time and the service always fantastic. My wife started off with a seafood chowder, I had a Caesar salad, both were very good. We then had their cod and swordfish specials. For dessert, we had the chocolate decedent and sorbets, excellent!
We brought our 15 year old son with us. He has a severe allergy to peanuts and other nuts. The waitress walked him through the menu and told him what items were safe for him to have. We really appreciated their attention to the note I included when I booked the reservation.
The chef has been here for many years and changes the breakfast and dinner menus regularly. We look forward to our next visit.
Delicious NY steak with mashed potatoes. Excellent salad with apples, walnuts and cheese. Tasty desserts. Friendly service. Loved watching the 2 Ospreys circling the cove.
Very good service from our waiter Matt. Beautiful view of the ocean. Food was very good.
Spectacular view, sunset following a rain storm, whale spouts, great drinks, appetizer, meal, and home-size dessert (plus good coffee). Delicious. Wonderful waitress. Relaxing and romantic. While I appreciate getting as many guests as possible seated by the windows, we were too close to the tables on either side of us - so close it felt awkward (though we did end up talking with folks on both sides ;-). Thank you for a lovely experience.
Amazing whiskey list! The food was wonderful and our server, Janet, was great.
Always great service and the food is the best! The views looking out over the oceans rolling waves are wonderful. This is a “must do”restaurant when traveling around Mendocino area. It won’t disappoint.
Food was pretty mediocre (lacked originality and flavor), but wine selection and views are great!
Had a wonderful birthday dinner!
Always impressive every time we go to the coast. A must stop. Staff is great. Food is perfect. View is amaze.
We will always remember our 10th anniversary, because we experienced the Albion Inn restaurant! There is not a comparable wine list on the coast, exceptional. The appetizer and dinner orders were absolutely top-notch. Special care went into EVERYTHING except...dessert. Standard run-of-the mill crème brulee. The sorbet was good and they also offered chocolate mousse. I guess because everything else was so amazing my expectations were up for dessert, but it seems only a standard good dessert is offered, Lol.
One of my favorite places to eat at. My family has been coming to the Albion River Inn for dinner for the last 10-15 years and it never disappoints. Plus, it has the best views of the coastline.
