At Alberts we strive to offer a memorable dining experience for all. Our dedicated team take pride in using local produce from land & sea and other fine ingredients to make quality dishes, desserts & cocktails for your enjoyment.

We enjoyed a tasty meal in interesting surroundings. A very pleasant experience and we hope to return
Quirky place to eat with Whitby jet around the restaurant, very knowledgable input from staff, great food expertly presented and matched with wines
Overall brilliant ambiance and remember it as an indoor flea market.
Food was amazing and outstanding value for Money.
Disappointed that they had sold out of crab as it was only lunchtime on a Friday with all local fishmongers fully stocked.
On an evening the venue would be breathtaking.
Lovely food, friendly staff. Our dogs were made to feel welcome too. Definitely recommend.
Enjoyed the steaks and wine lovely location staff friendly and lovely atmosphere
Nice restaurant, friendly and efficient staff. Food was very good and plenty of it. Will definitely visit again next time we are in Whitby
This is a marvelous restaurant. The atmosphere in the historic building is perfect for a date night; not so quiet that you feel exposed, not so loud that you struggle to talk. The wine list is excellently curated, and the menu is full of twists on classic dishes (e.g. I had a perfectly done cod papillote) using fresh, local ingredients. Service was friendly and prompt. A first-class dining experience.
Very disappointed to find that although we had booked a table for two we were seated alongside each other with other people at a bench running up the centre of the restaurant, with other diners sitting directly opposite us. We asked if we could have a table for two and were told this was not possible because we’d only booked four days ago and all the small tables had been allocated. We were in the restaurant for over an hour and there were four tables for two empty for the whole of this time. The experience felt more like a Victorian workhouse than a fine dining experience. Although the food was good the ambience was uncomfortable and I wouldn’t recommend it when there are so many exceptional restaurants in Whitby.
First class meal in a wonderful setting of the old Wesleyan Church. Service was very good and the staff very helpful and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend.
We popped in for lunch and it was so fantastic we booked in for dinner the following night. All of the dishes we tried were beautiful, especially the fish dishes which are their specialty.
All of the food was fresh, beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The staff were helpful, friendly and really knowledgeable. When we were dithering on the main course for dinner the staff talked us through the options and helped us choose and were definitely right! Personally I'd recommend the crab omelette and the shellfish chowder with haddock dippers.
Only regret is not finding this place earlier in our holiday - but a reason that we'll be back to Whitby.
Gorgeous food with exceptional service. Very friendly staff.
There was only one negative about our visit to Alberts Eatery and that was the temperature. It was quite chilly no hearing on. Towards the end of our delicious meal I put my coat on!
Having got the ‘last table’ online at 4.30 on Sunday, we arrived expecting a bustling atmosphere. Sadly this was not the case. We were the only table. It felt like the staff were waiting for us to finish so that they could go home. The food was over cooked. Cod en papillote was rubbery, as were the clams. Prawns steamed, overdone and tasteless, broccoli soggy and very wet. The monkfish was similar. Hake was the catch of the day and was ok served with a sauce and boiled potatoes. The best out of the 4 meals. Quite pricey for this standard of cooking. We mentioned our disappointment but got no apology. The waitress was friendly but just said that she would tell the kitchen staff. No further comments or compensation. Didn’t want to stay for dessert!
Excellent food in an interesting and characterful building right in the heart of the old town of Whitby
First time have been to Alberts and what a wonderful experience. The service was excellent, friendly and efficient. The food was totally delicious. My husband had steak and I had cod in a parcel. It was just perfect. Will definitely go back. Can highly recommend.
Excellent food and very attentive staff, will definitely be back!
Lovely food, the belly pork was scrumptious 😋 lovely surrounds , very friendly staff, well done with your new adventure, will defo be back, Thankyou for calling the place after my dad😚 👏👏👏👏😘
Loved our experience there, beautiful surroundings, great service, wonderful food & wine with good portions 😊
Excellent service and food in a really nice atmospheric venue. Maitre d was very friendly and helpful. Seafood was great and very large portions! Recommended
Small but varied selection with something for everyone, busier than it used to be before Covid but selection just not quite as good but they are still trying new things under new management.
The food was lovely, well cooked and presented and the staff worked hard to ensure my dietary needs were met. The restaurant is beautifully styled and has a nice vibe. The staff were very courteous and accommodating.
Lovely, quirky , place to eat. Not a huge menu but adequate . All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals, which included starters and mains. Staff were friendly and service was good. Would recommend and will definitely return.
Amazing venue, the host was awesome with recommendations of food and wine that turned out to be just perfect.
Not rush at the table at all and we stayed and ordered another bottle of wine.
Good was amazing it really was…. Couldn’t rate the place higher
Nothing bad to say this place is. Gem one definitely to go back to
The gallery setting is beautiful & this raised the overall & ambience score.
I was one of a party of seven, a few had the cod, while tasty, we all agreed it was too salty, if the chef had tasted their food would they have served this to us? The restaurant did have have enough lemon possets to fulfill our dessert order, they 'only had three left'. Comparing the sizes of the posset served to the table beside us to what we were served, I can only assume that the restaurant split the one remaining posset between three people at my table & added extra berries to top it up. Disappointedly the posset didn't taste of lemon.
The staff went out of their way to accommodate, excellent meal highly recommend.
Really tasty food and great, friendly service. Beautiful building features IE tiles and organ and we enjoyed the music but lighting was a bit bright which is a shame as it ruined the atmosphere and made it less cosy, would definitely be nicer if the lighting was lower / 'warmer'.
We received our starters and mains at the same time.
Some imaginative dishes, excellent quality and great service
Fantastic food and lovely staff. Amazing refurb of an old building.
King scallops with black pudding fritter were excellent, as were the hake steaks. Presentation was superb, ambience was excellent. Menu was original and creative. Best meal by far so far in Whitby (3 more restaurants to come)
Lovely and very different type of venue. Excellent food and delivered promptly by delightful friendly staff. Already recommended to others staying at same holiday accommodation.
Absolutely fantastic.. The greeting from the team was superb.. The restaurant decor was unbelievable,, so interesting, great music too...
But the food was amazing, just amazing,, well done to you all.. We arnt local, but woukd make the trip back to whitby,, just to eat at this wonderful little gem..
Lovely atmosphere, even though it was fairly quiet when we were there. Very helpful and friendly staff. Good, varied menu, we all enjoyed our meals.
The only slight issue we had was with one of the desserts, orange cream cake, it was a dry, overbaked sponge with a buttercream filling, no cream or orange in sight.
This did not affect our overall positive experience, we had a lovely evening and would definitely go back.
Quirky setting in Whitby’s jet museum. Food centres fish but menu includes meat and some vegetarian options. I had a smoked aubergine and white bean casserole which was lovely - much nicer than it sounds! Friendly and knowledgeable service. Good wine list with reasonably priced choices. Deserves to succeed.
Lovely setting, nice friendly staff offering a well spaced evening meal.
Lovely, relaxing lunch. Waitress was very helpful and friendly
Delicious food served in amazing venue. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely recommend to friends and family
Booked on line but on arrival our table was next to reception and did not feel part of the restaurant. Had a main abd dessert. Main was outstanding however desserts poor in comparison my orange cream cake had synthetic cream and little flavour.
Delicious well presented food. Flavours put together well. Great choice on menu and good portion sizes. Great value. Waitresses were smiley and lovely, took us to table, but left us far too long. Had to ask them to order. I don’t mind waiting but it began to feel like ages. Nice old hall. Lights too bright, so ambiance not great- as lights on in shop area. Wouldn’t want to sit near there.
Food excellent, service good.
