Restaurant was closed, and had been for 3 weeks, despite getting an automated ‘please confirm’ your booking 24 hours before. Owners should have informed the booking company and therefore avoid issues like this. Staffing issues apparently, which is a massive shame as this was one of the best restaurants in Whitby, and we go every time we visit. Hope the staffing issues get resolved for our next visit.

I had my reservation booked for my birthday weeks in advance. We arrived on the day to the restaurant closed, no one at Alberts Eatery bothered to notify me of this. There were no staff there to explain what was happening. Very unprofessional

We’d booked Alberts to celebrate our wedding anniversary and despite getting confirmation of our booking and even a text reminder on the day of the booking to say our table would be ready we got to the restaurant to find it locked and closed! I appreciate all business can experience emergency situations, but to not even try and advise people who had taken the time to make a reservation is unforgivable.

Very disappointing. Having booked a couple of weeks in advance, and confirmed the day prior, we arrived to find the restaurant closed. No notice outside, no message on the answerphone, no note on the website. It came to light that the closure was due to staffing issues. We understand the reason for closure but not the lack of information.

Due to staff shortages, there was hardly any choice on the menu , the service was poor , and when a member of our party asked for a decaffeinated coffee we were told they didn’t have any ! Unfortunately our friends had come to Whitby for a long weekend from Liverpool and having looked at the menu and the photos we thought it would be a lovely experience - however we couldn’t have been more wrong.

Nice food & great service Menu was different to that on website which was disappointing as no mussels or seafood chowder but still enjoyed what we had.
