Went in on Sunday @ 5:00. It was pretty quiet. The inside was nice and the hostess was pleasant also. Actually, all the staff were pleasant and accommodating. The front door was kept open so we had a lot of flies swirling around our table. They did not close the door when we asked. It was not quite 5 yet but I asked the waitress to bring us a couple of paper menus in case the QR code menu was not up to date. We waited and waited. I then asked the busboy to bring us the menus and he agreed. He never did either so I walked to the front and got them myself. My G.F had the Ragu Lamb with pasta and it was barely warm. They made some excuse about the sauce cooling it off. Umm.. yeah!! I had the Salmon with Bok Choy. It came in more of a bowl, not plate, and it was submerged ( swimming ) in sauce. I had to ask for another plate to rescue the fish out of the sauce. It tasted ok, but was terrible presentation.. Like I said, Nice people but all around terrible experience, especially with the lame excuse about the lamb ragu.
Everything was wonderful! Best pork chops I’ve ever had and amazing bread pudding!
Food was excellent as was its presentation. Service was superb—very attentive. A delightful experience. We will return.
We had a Saturday lunch at Albatross, sitting outdoor, and had a lovely lunch. Burgers are expensive but delicious. The fries are cooked to perfection. The green gaspacho was fresh and full of flavor. Service was attentive. We will return often.
This was our first time at Albatross and had a great experience. The food was delicious and we loved the dedication to local sustainable food. We dined outside and it was a great setting in downtown Danville. Definitely will return.
This was the best brunch we have had in memory. The mushroom omelette was the standout but everything on the table (chicken and waffles, salmon Benedict, lemon ricotta pancakes) was fantastic, including the cocktails (a delicious Hemingway daiquiri). How does a mushroom omelette, of all the things one could have, end up being that good? I do not know. Beautiful patio with succulents and great service. Pretty much a perfect experience, will be back soon to try different things at dinner.
This is my third or fourth time here. It is my second time in the last 2 months. The first time I was here, the food was exquisite. Today, the food was still very good. I chose to have the hamburger which was fabulous. The french fries, though, were extremely salty. The salt crystals were highly visible. It's stayed with me all day, the saltiness. The iced tea was freshly brewed and fantastic. The service was wonderful. It is a place that I will come to again.
Great food and excellent service. Def recommend. Just that one pesky fly that kept hovering over us was the only negative thing I can think of. But def would come again.
Fantastic birthday dinner!
The food and atmosphere is great here, such a delightful dining experience!
Lovely ambience, spacious outdoor seating, phenomenal food and presentation, and wonderful and attentive service. My party of 7 was here for Sunday brunch—we will be back!
Great atmosphere. Great food and amazing drinks. Wonderful service. Highly recommend going here for dinner and drinks!!
Excellent service, delicious food prepared with finesse.
Another great experience. This time brunch. Loved the peach & tomato salad, chicken & waffles and chilaquiles. Oh, and the Bloody Mary! Server was friendly and recommended the chicken & waffles. The owner was seating guests. We will be back.
excellent service and delicious chicken n waffles!
We don't come here enough - Albatross has a lot going for it, a solid menu which includes both entrees and tapas, as well as appetizers, a good drink selection. You'll pay more for less interesting food elsewhere, for sure. All-in-all, it's a fair value for the portion sizes, quality, and especially for the interesting twists and surprises you can expect in most of the items that you might order here.
Also, wide variety of gluten free options, clearly marked, was unexpected and a real plus, if that's your thing.
Delicious menu choices in a lively atmosphere. My companion and I ordered oysters, corn chowder, peach and tomato salad to start and enjoyed every slurp & bite :)
We were torn between a main plate each or sharing "smaller" plates, so we ordered four small plates including the halibut ceviche, mussels, short rib and lettuce cups. The plates did not disappoint and were more than enough for us both to skip dessert.
The service was superb; our server was the most charming, engaging, and helpful soul <3
I did notice that the support staff seemed perplexed about placing plates, i.e., they did not think about removing items no longer needed at the table and were a bit timid about moving tings to make more room.
All in all, this is a lovely restaurant that I cannot wait to come back to try more yummy dishes!!
We had the shrimp and grits, steak sandwich, BLAT and side salad. All were generous portions and excellent fresh ingredients. Attentive server, great experience!
I love this place. The pork chop and oysters are dynamite. I didn’t realize the owner was there because she looked so young. She was super sweet and She’s doing a great job running the place, even being short staffed.
The service was a little slow. Food took a while to come out but everything was delicious.
This was my second visit. Menu is okay and pricey. Post pandemic it seems to be par for the course to have less than optimal service level. Our waitress was sweet and apologized for delay. But the amount of time to get food was in excess of an hour and it wasn’t necessarily worth the wait. I will not return.
Wonderful service and wait staff…loved the menu choices. Everyone enjoyed their meal
Everything was great - food, service and ambiance.
First time at Albatross and we had a great experience. I wish I could remember our waiter’s name, he was extremely helpful and friendly. Food was great and so was the ambiance. Even though I never mentioned my friend’s birthday, our waiter noticed it was her birthday and brought her ice cream and a candle. It was a very nice touch to end our meal. Will definitely be back.
The service was excellent but the food quality was poor. Both our dishes lacked seasoning, and were not prepared correctly. Expected much more for this price point and in Danville. Would not go here again.
The Duroc pork chop was divine.
The halibut was just OK.
Aour meals were delicious and the service was great/ We ate outside and it was lovely
Wow. Excellent food, great service, nice atmosphere. The fried kalettes starter was maybe the best kale I've ever had, and I eat a lot of kale. My partner and I brought both sets of our parents here, and it was quiet enough for good conversation, even with a birthday party at the table next to us. Impressive!
Always a great time. Excellent food. Staff goes out of their way to make an enjoyable experience
We had dinner at the bar and received outstanding service. I believe the bartenders name was Todd.
Food was good but the service was very slow, and they kept forgetting or messing up our brunch order.
We a a very patient and helpful waitress, she helped guide us on drink and food choices, since we were indecisive! The food was delicious, and it was very pretty inside the restaurant, with great decor. Our waitress was explaining to us how the menu changes often, which we thought was great! We will definitely be back!
Everyone loved their dishes but the star of the table was the green goddess gazpacho. A beautiful soup both in taste and looks. Staff was helpful in getting us situated on the patio, getting us covered by umbrellas on the 100+ degree day. Will return to Albatross soon!
Great ambiance inside and outside. We sat on the patio which was lovely. Food tasted great. My daughter and I shared the steak and eggs and the lemon ricotta pancakes. Server and hostess were both friendly and provided great service.
First visit…. Yep, I’ll definitely return!!
We sat in the front patio in the shade for a lovely embience. Enjoyed the cool jazzy music too. Started with the lettuce cups, I could make that a meal, so flavorful, fresh and plentiful.
I had the halibut and licked the bowl clean…. So very good. I loved it…. Coconut milk sauce and black rice!
My friend had the short ribs…. She liked them but would order something g different next time.
My only comment t was the service started off slow, took almost 25 minutes to get our drinks I’ll give them a break as there was a large party of 18. I look forward to returning and trying something néw.
We were served by Dori who did an excellent job. Thank you Dori!
This was our first time here. Great menu, good consistent service, and food was excellent. We had 7 people in our party. Asked our server what some of the popular dishes were and ordered the top three : the glutton free fried chicken, the braised short ribs and the appetizer Kaletta. The rest of the party had mussels, Halibut, the Poke, and hanger steak. There was not a single plate left with food on it. Fantastic meal.
Excellent food and service! Love the new menu! Dined outdoor on the patio and it was wonderful.
Maria is an excellent server. We will ask for her whenever we go there.
