Service was terrible. Had to ask for water refills, salt and pepper and bread which never arrived. Excuse was we do better at dinner. Why be open for lunch then. Online menu was different and not updated.
Bday. For my wife.
I was traveling from Connecticut on a business trip and found this restaurant on Open Table. Had dinner Sunday at 6 pm. Albatross is a super place for delicious and healthy food. Very fresh ingredients and a creative chef make this a special place. Great location with many options including outdoor tables. The service is outstanding. Everything went well and everyone working at Albatross has a great attitude and positive outlook. I highly recommend Albatross. It’s a huge plus that Albatross is in a great location in Danville and there are many other places nearby.
Excellent service, delicious food and amazing atmosphere!
We had reservations at 7:00 and were seated in the bar. Unacceptable. Because of being seated there, our service was not prompt. We order the cheese platter, and the bread was stale. The mushroom ravioli were not hot.
We had wonderful food for a large group. The Cheesemonger appetizer, wings and flatbread were delicious!! My only complaint was the delay between appetizers and the main meal. Otherwise, a great meal and atmosphere.
So yummy, the oysters were delicious. We enjoyed the wedge salad which was pleasantly different than any we have had and the shishito peppers we good too! The best is the ambiance oh and the cocktails! Love the patio
Amazing service by Cierra and the owner came by to make sure all was great. Excellent!!
Family lunch. Lunch was delicious.
We came to Albatross to celebrate a birthday. The food was fantastic and our server Jake was attentive and offered some excellent wine recommendations. It was an unusually quiet Monday evening other than a couple rowdy football fans at the bar that added a little entertainment.
Great service and we had a nice table outside. The food was tasty.
Decor was lovely. Food was good. The staff was very accommodating. Will go back.
Awesome service. Made for one the best birthday meals I’ve ever had!
Great flavors; however, portions of some plates were very small. It is a shame that the restaurant doesn't serve tasting menus / family style plates any more.
loved it! Favorite place in Danville!!! Worth a visit!
Birthday dessert was amazing!!
Food was fantastic and our server allowed us to linger!
This restaurant has `found its feet'. Disappointing when it opened it is now excellent. The food was well-prepared and the staff attentive without being over-bearing. The menu had choices for every preference and diet. we'll be back.
Danville's most exciting new restaurant continues to impress with regular seasonal additions to their menu. The non-traditional Caesar salad was topped with boquerones and dressed with a savory vinaigrette. My wife and I ordered similar entree, one was salmon and the other halibut. The latter was the most succulent we had ever eaten. We shared the chocolate cake dessert which was moist and very tasty.
The food was great, and the outdoor seating was nice. However this is our second visit and they still haven't tuned their service with their food offering. On both occasions, I found myself waiting for very long periods before our drinks and/or food were delivered. It wasn't very busy, however I was always looking over my shoulder for our server who we didn't see very frequently to inquire about our order. Pricey, but the food was very good. Once they get the service figured out, I would give it higher ratings.
Steamed halibut was moist yet firm, retaining the delicate flavor of the fish. The sauce had a kick that gave the fish a tangy taste. Served with black rice and a blend of veggies. My wife had the ravioli which came in 2 sizes. As a lighter eater she chose the small size and it was perfect for her appetite. Will definitely return. Plus with our Open Table $20 reward we reduced our cost!
Have had two lunches and one dinner at Albatross. Food is very good and service is good although slow at times.
First of all, we ate outside, which is why I rated the noise level as low. Inside is a different matter.
Both the chicken and the salmon, plus their accompaniments, were delicious, about as flavorful and well cooked as any we’ve had anywhere. The wine list is interesting and eclectic, with some great choices.
There were a couple service mistakes, but they were professionally and quickly corrected.
We’ve dined at Albatross before and thought the food was good. They have broadened their menu, and the meal we had this time was wonderful. Give them a try.
Our son had lunch there and suggested we go for dinner. We sat outside, service was very good and everyone enjoyed their dinner. The salmon was especially delicious.
Outstanding food and inviting decor. Looking forward to our next visit.
We chose Albatross because it was such a beautiful Saturday evening and we wanted to enjoy the patio dining experienc. The evening would have been perfect were it not for a large family seated next to us with two screaming babies...all night. I doubt the restaurant can do anything about this type of behavior so I write this for any patrons that might read. Parents, a fine dining restaurant is not the place to take your young childres - it is rude, inconsiderate and selfish to expect a restaurant full of adults. to endure your screaming children - they are unhappy and so it everyone else around them. I realize that you are likely numb to the chaos but others are spending money for an enjoyable experience and do not appreciate it being ruined. There are plenty of restaurants in town that cater to families and children, you could choose more wisely or at the very least take your children out of the restaurant - and don't keep bringing them back again and again to start up once again.
Always a favorite, good food and ambiance at Albatross.
The food was exceptional. The clam appetizer was a large enough for 4 but the two of us ate it all. Delicious! The main courses were presented with care. Highly recommend even though the service was a little slow.
The food is amazing. The presentation of the food is so artistic. The atmosphere is great!! I have been there 3 times in the last month. They are falling short with service. It’s extremely slow. Slow to order a drink, order food, get water filled, ect. I hope the service improves because the food is so fantastic!
This was my fourth time there. The host & owner were very friendly! Our waitress was not. She never smiled & seemed like she didn’t want to b there. In the past I’ve always had good service. The food was good as usual.
Was there to celebrate a friend's B-Day. We both were impressed with the food and service.
I had heard mixed reviews about Albatross. We sat at the table at least 15 minutes before anyone addressed us. The manager did give the table a cheese plate and truly outside of the meatloaf it was the best food we had. Two of the items we wanted to order were replaced with completely different dishes without much explanation.
We didn’t have the best experience, despite other times we’ve been and it’s been great. It was a Sunday night, so not sure if that made a difference. Ordered the Daquiri and were informed they had no salted pistachios, which was one reason we wanted to try it. Got it anyway. It was ok. Wanted to order wine by the glass and menu didn’t list all the ones available so waiter rattled off other wines not listed (no pricing offered). Just strange and confusing way to offer drinks.
Ordered the avocado hummus as a starter, but they brought it after our salads. Ordered the ravioli and were informed they didn’t have “ravioli” that night but were making the dish but substituting the noodle with boccatini and no ricotta but feta instead. Sounded strange but waiter insisted is was going to be good. Got it and it was not “ravioli” at all!!! Very strange bowl of noodles and squash blossoms and mushrooms. Not what we expected at all. They did comp that off the bill, however.
We had to ask twice for extra crackers for the hummus and bread for the table (available upon request). Just felt like they weren’t up to their A game. Hope they can get it right, with all the competition in town. I like them in general.
I think they need to have a daily printed menu if they have so many changes to what is available. I know they do farm to table and always want to offer what is fresh.
Too expensive for value received. Just avg quality. Portions small. Drinks very expensive.
Overall a disappointment. Based on recommendations we were hopeful that Albatross would elevate the Danville dining scene. Unfortunately, this is just another "B Grade" restaurant. Food was OK, at best. Mussels were overcooked and chewy. Accompanying "toasts" were untoasted slices of store-bought loaf bread. Ravioli pasta was gummy, a collection of odd flavors and unsatisfying. Fried and Ceasar were, well you get the idea. Can't fault the service and it wasn't over-priced given it's in the Bay Area. Perhaps best suited for patio dining, or a seat at the bar--though we haven't sampled the cocktails. Perhaps your experience will be better.
Excellent food, ambiance and service. This restaurant doesn’t disappoint!
Lovely place. There were 6 of us for a birthday dinner. Other than waiting a while for water, the staff were helpful and friendly.
The food is generally very good! Nice cocktails. Ravioli, ribs & caesar were great. Mixed reviews on the lettuce cups (I liked them). Unfortunately, wedge, meat loaf & burger were considered nothing special. We had a lot of fun though.
Unfortunately, the menu and food quality has changed dramatically.
We understand that the menu changed on Friday.
They are trying to become ordinary instead of special and unique.
Dishes don’t have the same unique flare and taste.
Store bought crackers with Hummus and store bought sliced bread with Mussels?
Very disappointing, will not go back and cannot recommend.
Danville is sophisticated and deserves better.
Please reconsider your strategy.
While the dishes were lovely, the service was slow, and absentminded, especially for being so empty. Dinner here previously has been fantastic, brunch was not up to the same standards. Great potential, just needs refining.
Great food, but lots of service mishaps. Took over 20 minutes to get our drink order and 40 minutes to actually get our drinks.
