I would go here anytime
Love this place for any occasion
I’m not sure if this review should count. Made reservations. Drove there on a busy festival weekend for brunch. When we walked in they said the kitchen wasn’t serving and apologized bc they were going to call to let us know but just didn’t do it. Wasted our time, gas, and we were still hungry. Bummed that they were so unprofessional.
Strangely my reservation through open table was not received by them. They said this has happened before. It has never happened to me at any other restaurant. Our one disappointment was that we were not told there was outdoor dining available. It was a beautiful evening and we would have jumped at the chance to enjoy it. Instead we were seated indoors in a small room off of the bar. It was really too late to change tables when we realized there was the outdoor option.
alba is nice if you are staying at the river terrance inn. but, weird if you are just going there for dinner or lunch. menu was small and not worth the price. wouldn’t eat there again
Seated and never acknowledged for over 15 minutes. Finally got up and went to the bar to get a drink. Passed the manager and mentioned how terrible the service was and he looked at us and just kept going. Truly a horrific experience. Would not recommend!!!! Too bad as the location is lovely n the river.
Got there was greeted, seated everything fine. Got a mimosa drinks fine, but when friends arrived took 15 min to get a second mimosa and waters for 4. Placed order and 25 min later came back to tell what I ordered they were out of!!! It was 10am and they already ran out??? Had to settle for an egg sandwich, meh, it was okay. Wife ordered eggs Beni and was not runny the egg was done, dead , hard. Just not what would have excepted from a nice hotel when there aren’t busy. They did comp my portion of the breakfast but come on, 25 min to tell me you don’t have the pizza dough to make you signature flat bread breakfast....lame. ....
Food way too salty, not able to eat.
Beautiful setting. We ate on the patio and it had a great view of big trees near the river. Food was good. Service was ok but our waitress disappeard after we finished brunch and we sat for 20 minutes and eventually had to go in and ask for our bill. We were told our waitress went on her lunch break. The manager on duty took care of our drinks for the wait which was appreciated. Would try it again
The service was great excellent the food not so much.
We each ( my wife and me ) ordered the short rib, the short rib was more like a piece of tough stew meat and the pasta was less than al dente, the meal was served in a cold dish which only accentuated the shortcomings of the food. On a positive note the flavor that the chef achieved was very good. I informed our waitress of the issues with the meal, and she apologized for it to which I asked her to please tell the chef. She returned a short while later and said she had notified the chef and that she had removed the items from the bill.
We will try Alba in the future because the service Wes excellent and perhaps we just hit it on a bad night for the chef.
We came on a whim. We live in the area and wanted to try something different. So glad we did!! We had the pork belly crepes (amazing!!!), 2 salads, the filet mignon, the chicken, the pork chop and we tried the beignets and chocolate lava cake. Our meal was absolutely wonderful. Our server was great. We found out ALBA doesn't charge corkage for the the first bottle. The whole dinner for 3 with all that food as $132.00. We were so impressed and will be back for sure.
Relaxing brunch on the patio. Server was good, atmosphere with the trees by the river was very nice.
We were underwhelmed by the entire experience. The meal was prepared and presented nicely though the portions were much smaller than we expected for the price. Glad I had a gift card to take care of some of the damage. Won't return for a rerun and will not recommend to friends. There are too many other restaurants to return to this one.
We have been here twice. Both times the food was outstanding! The service is great and you can't beat the deck by the river with the fire pits. We kind of appreciate it's undiscovered nature because it's quiet and intimate. Price is very reasonable.
This is my 2nd time experiencing ALBA, the first time was a nice happy hour on the patio. This time while kids away parents play evening. We were looking for something quiet and it was getting late. Checked on Open Table and had a reservation for 730pm. Everything else in Napa was a 90 minute wait. Got there on time and was seated immediately. Staff was welcoming and
very friendly. Offered the specials and some personal choices as well. Everything was delicious!
I was looking for somewhere new to take my grandma to celebrate her 94th birthday and came across ALBA on Open Table.
We were seated at a lovely table with a loveseat on one side and two big, comfy chairs on the other. Unbeknownst to us, they have terrific Happy Hour offerings and we ordered at least one of each and shared. We had sliders, pork belly crepes, roasted shishito peppers, truffle fries and a couple of us tried the corn chowder. Being it was taco Tuesday we also got an order of those. Beignets were dessert and they brought them to the table with a candle while everyone sung to the birthday gal.
The server was adorable and attentive. The food was excellent. The ambiance was lovely. My grandma is still talking about it!
Kudos to ALBA. We will be back!
This was our second trip dining at Alba and we were not disappointed! We took friends this time and everyone enjoyed their appetizers, salads and main dishes right through to dessert! It was a Friday night so there was some live entertainment - a little too loud for our taste as it made conversation at the table a bit trying sometime.
I would not go back to this restaurant - the food was over salted and just okay. The waiter had way too many tables and service was slow.
Valentine Day Menu was great. Service was as good as any place we have been in Napa in many years. Great mixed drinks and friendly bar staff. We will be back soon!
We had generally very good food: pork chop yummy, lobster mac and cheese tasty but hardly any lobster, corn soup very good. Key lime pie disappointing -- small, lacking acid -- although fruit on the side with it lent acidity, and kind of watery. Expresso coffee tasted like the machine needed cleaning -- bitter oils. Pleasant atmosphere with comfortable chairs. Menu very limited.
I would give the place a 3.5 or 3.75. No such classification here, so I gave it a 4.
What a fun and energetic place to dine! We came for the Napa Restaurant Week special and can't wait to go back for Happy Hour. The food was incredible, the wine pairing was amazing and the Key Lime Pie was to die for. Can't wait until my next time to dine there!
Excellent service, we had a very friendly waiter who offered us good menu suggestions, like de ahi tuna tacos as appetizers (really tasty). They have live music every Friday and Saturday from 5 to 9 pm.
We were there for Restaurant Week and had a tasty meal. Service was OK, but it was pretty loud for a nice meal.
We had their special 3 course prix-fixe menu as part of Napa Restaurant week and we were not disappointed! The Mushroom bisque was to die for - I could have had 2 more bowls and would have begged the Chef to give me the recipe. The salmon filet and pork chop entrees were beautifully prepared and presented. Finishing it up was a small piece of Key Lime pie. Service was professional and friendly. The bar had a lively happy hour that emptied out soon after ending, leaving the dining room more sedate and calmer. We will be back!
Alba is really great from the hostess to the server to the ambiance and especially the food! We decided to jump out of our Napa Box into something fun and different because of Restaurant Week (thank you for offering this super fun option) and are we happy we did! We cannot wait to return to Alba after Restaurant Week as there are still many more restaurants to try out this week. The mushroom bisque was so yummy! The portions are substantial and the seasonings and pairing phenomenal with the pork and the salmon. Really looking forward to returning and trying the entire menu!
Terrible. Food was all too salty. Music was so loud we had to eat outside.
We’ve been here several times. One of Napa’s best kept secrets! Everything we’ve tried on the menu has been great. I’ve seen folks complain about slow service on some websites, but this isn’t meant to be a “fast food” establishment. Relax, take your time and soak up the environment. Live music on Friday and Saturday nights if you want some nice ambiance, otherwise it’s a quiet, cozy place to enjoy some great food. Hosts and wait staff are all friendly, helpful and attentive.
The outdoor patio will be great once it warms up. This is a great place to have dinner or brunch, or just a casual drink after a long day wine tasting. The staff is fun and attentive and everything we ate was delicious. I can't wait to come back to stay and eat!
We had dinner at ALBA on New Year's Eve. They had a pre-fix dinner menu and felt a bit forced to order from that menu as the other options were appetizers and not really dinner items. The food was bland and nothing spectacular (over priced also!). The ambiance and the service was very good, however. I would recommend going for early evening appetizers and drinks, would not go again for dinner.
Waitress was inexperienced. Potatoes (in appetizer and entree) were undercooked—almost raw in the app. Dessert was delicious but about twice as big as it needed to be. Steak was excellent.
I rarely leave a bad review, but I will be as fair as possible. Our friends were staying at Meritage and when we left we thought we'd eat in Napa and found a place on open table that was available with a short notice. We showed up and the ambiance was phenomenal when you get inside - I think they share with a hotel, so the restaurant is located inside and has a beautiful outside deck.
When we arrived i told the guy we had a reservation and he was kind of rude when asking for my name, which is fine. The younger guy was probably in high school and he was nicer/more service oriented than the guy who "welcomed" us.
Our hostess was better, but did not know liquor, so when i asked him about a drink on the rocks he said they didn't have the liquor so we ordered some very horrible cocktails. I don't know how to put it any better than that. It was a long time in between the next round of drinks, but lucky for us I saw that the liquor I was told they didn't have, they did have it in one of the cocktails so we ordered that. They were the worse cocktails. My pisco sour was luke-cold. We ignored this red flag.
The music was great, a guy was playing acoustic guitar and there were some opportunities to sing along to some favorites, to which we did one or two songs. We would have eaten outside, but it was a little bit too chilly even with the blankets.
There is no other way to say it but that the food was horrible. My steak was bland and everything else on my plate. My friend had fish and it was not seasoned well and it was not cooked fully and it was rubbery.
There needs to be a major overhaul/training to create solid systems and to maintain some form of quality control. I would say it's a great place to come for drinks, but the ONLY great aspect of the meal was the grilled shishito peppers.
With some time having passed, Alba was a poorly executed experience. I love the decor, but unfortunately that is not enough to carry the food and drinks.
We were not greeted at all when we arrived. We asked a waiter what we should do, and he said 'just sit anywhere'. Indoors, the live music was ear-splitting and terrible. Outside, it was very cold and they had very few heaters, all of which were being used by other diners. All of the people inside were just drinking...we didn't see any food at all.
We just decided to go elsewhere, so I can't rate the food. I think on a warm summer evening a table by the river would be very nice. Unfortunately, we were there in December and the temps were in the forties outside.
Wonderful food, beautiful inside and outside seating areas
The service was horrible and slow. It took a while for the waiter to come to the table. When he finally showed up, he didn’t know the menu. After he took the order, it took too long to get the food. My wife’s order came first and mine came 10 minutes later. My wife’s food was good but had gotten cold. Mine was too salty. The chicken pieces were small also. The waiter never came back for my drink order until I finished my meal. When the bill came, we were charged twice for one meal and we were supposed to receive a “locals” discount. That didn’t happen either. After getting that straight, I only received one receipt. I signed it and we left. There is no excuse for this. There were only two tables and we were at one of them. I don’t blame the waiter. I blame management. It was his first day and someone should have shadowed him. He was completely lost. The restaurant has no style. The room that we sat in had NO pictures and the walls are white. It looked like the inside of a refrigerator. They better make changes if they want future business.
It is a beautiful setting. Food was delicious as was the presentation. Service was perfect. Our only disappointment was that we wanted to sit outside and visit. They had live music and it was too loud. Music was good but too loud for dinner. I made the reservation through open table . It would be nice if somehow we could have known there was music and then we could have made our choice differently.
Food was delicious, service was very good, BUT, the music that was played was so LOUD that we couldn't have a conversation...asked if the volume could be lowered, was told there was nothing they could do...music is played on Thursday, Friday, Saturday - so if you want to have a conversation, maybe those are not the nights to go...by the way, except for a couple of tables in the bar, this is an outdoor restaurant...
On our last night in Napa we ate here, what a great experience !
We were running late and they held our reservation for us, a great start.
We were seated outside by one of their stunning fire pits which added to the already great ambiance .
The food and drinks were outstanding , but mostly the service. Relaxed and not rushed, a perfect experience .
We loved sitting outside and the guitar/harmonica player entertainer was fabulous. Good wine, tasty food and a lively crowd made the experience a happy one. We especially liked the Caesar salad and our entrees but we wished they had decaf coffee.
Amazing food, wonderful ambiance, great service for breakfast! We asked for 4 cappuccinos all done with different kinds of milk and increased espresso shots. Food was hot, fresh and fast. Loved it!!
The corn chowder and garlic fries were amazing. The pork belly crepes we're so oily and thick that I didn't want to eat them. So mixed bag. I would definitely go back for the chowder. The service was also very good. If the server attending you was busy the others were willing to step in if they noticed an empty glass (for a refill) or plate to clear.
Don't. Just don't. Even if you are staying at the Inn and the temperature is 155F outside, go somewhere else.
Uninspired food. Service that tries its best to be surly but can't work up the energy. Live music with a guy who only seems to know three chords.
My pork chop managed to be both dry and tasteless. My wife's salmon was at least pink.
Go somewhere else. Really.
