Valentine Day Menu was great. Service was as good as any place we have been in Napa in many years. Great mixed drinks and friendly bar staff. We will be back soon!
We had generally very good food: pork chop yummy, lobster mac and cheese tasty but hardly any lobster, corn soup very good. Key lime pie disappointing -- small, lacking acid -- although fruit on the side with it lent acidity, and kind of watery. Expresso coffee tasted like the machine needed cleaning -- bitter oils. Pleasant atmosphere with comfortable chairs. Menu very limited.
I would give the place a 3.5 or 3.75. No such classification here, so I gave it a 4.
What a fun and energetic place to dine! We came for the Napa Restaurant Week special and can't wait to go back for Happy Hour. The food was incredible, the wine pairing was amazing and the Key Lime Pie was to die for. Can't wait until my next time to dine there!
Excellent service, we had a very friendly waiter who offered us good menu suggestions, like de ahi tuna tacos as appetizers (really tasty). They have live music every Friday and Saturday from 5 to 9 pm.
We were there for Restaurant Week and had a tasty meal. Service was OK, but it was pretty loud for a nice meal.
We had their special 3 course prix-fixe menu as part of Napa Restaurant week and we were not disappointed! The Mushroom bisque was to die for - I could have had 2 more bowls and would have begged the Chef to give me the recipe. The salmon filet and pork chop entrees were beautifully prepared and presented. Finishing it up was a small piece of Key Lime pie. Service was professional and friendly. The bar had a lively happy hour that emptied out soon after ending, leaving the dining room more sedate and calmer. We will be back!
Alba is really great from the hostess to the server to the ambiance and especially the food! We decided to jump out of our Napa Box into something fun and different because of Restaurant Week (thank you for offering this super fun option) and are we happy we did! We cannot wait to return to Alba after Restaurant Week as there are still many more restaurants to try out this week. The mushroom bisque was so yummy! The portions are substantial and the seasonings and pairing phenomenal with the pork and the salmon. Really looking forward to returning and trying the entire menu!
Terrible. Food was all too salty. Music was so loud we had to eat outside.
We’ve been here several times. One of Napa’s best kept secrets! Everything we’ve tried on the menu has been great. I’ve seen folks complain about slow service on some websites, but this isn’t meant to be a “fast food” establishment. Relax, take your time and soak up the environment. Live music on Friday and Saturday nights if you want some nice ambiance, otherwise it’s a quiet, cozy place to enjoy some great food. Hosts and wait staff are all friendly, helpful and attentive.
The outdoor patio will be great once it warms up. This is a great place to have dinner or brunch, or just a casual drink after a long day wine tasting. The staff is fun and attentive and everything we ate was delicious. I can't wait to come back to stay and eat!
We had dinner at ALBA on New Year's Eve. They had a pre-fix dinner menu and felt a bit forced to order from that menu as the other options were appetizers and not really dinner items. The food was bland and nothing spectacular (over priced also!). The ambiance and the service was very good, however. I would recommend going for early evening appetizers and drinks, would not go again for dinner.
Waitress was inexperienced. Potatoes (in appetizer and entree) were undercooked—almost raw in the app. Dessert was delicious but about twice as big as it needed to be. Steak was excellent.
I rarely leave a bad review, but I will be as fair as possible. Our friends were staying at Meritage and when we left we thought we'd eat in Napa and found a place on open table that was available with a short notice. We showed up and the ambiance was phenomenal when you get inside - I think they share with a hotel, so the restaurant is located inside and has a beautiful outside deck.
When we arrived i told the guy we had a reservation and he was kind of rude when asking for my name, which is fine. The younger guy was probably in high school and he was nicer/more service oriented than the guy who "welcomed" us.
Our hostess was better, but did not know liquor, so when i asked him about a drink on the rocks he said they didn't have the liquor so we ordered some very horrible cocktails. I don't know how to put it any better than that. It was a long time in between the next round of drinks, but lucky for us I saw that the liquor I was told they didn't have, they did have it in one of the cocktails so we ordered that. They were the worse cocktails. My pisco sour was luke-cold. We ignored this red flag.
The music was great, a guy was playing acoustic guitar and there were some opportunities to sing along to some favorites, to which we did one or two songs. We would have eaten outside, but it was a little bit too chilly even with the blankets.
There is no other way to say it but that the food was horrible. My steak was bland and everything else on my plate. My friend had fish and it was not seasoned well and it was not cooked fully and it was rubbery.
There needs to be a major overhaul/training to create solid systems and to maintain some form of quality control. I would say it's a great place to come for drinks, but the ONLY great aspect of the meal was the grilled shishito peppers.
With some time having passed, Alba was a poorly executed experience. I love the decor, but unfortunately that is not enough to carry the food and drinks.
We were not greeted at all when we arrived. We asked a waiter what we should do, and he said 'just sit anywhere'. Indoors, the live music was ear-splitting and terrible. Outside, it was very cold and they had very few heaters, all of which were being used by other diners. All of the people inside were just drinking...we didn't see any food at all.
We just decided to go elsewhere, so I can't rate the food. I think on a warm summer evening a table by the river would be very nice. Unfortunately, we were there in December and the temps were in the forties outside.

The service was horrible and slow. It took a while for the waiter to come to the table. When he finally showed up, he didn’t know the menu. After he took the order, it took too long to get the food. My wife’s order came first and mine came 10 minutes later. My wife’s food was good but had gotten cold. Mine was too salty. The chicken pieces were small also. The waiter never came back for my drink order until I finished my meal. When the bill came, we were charged twice for one meal and we were supposed to receive a “locals” discount. That didn’t happen either. After getting that straight, I only received one receipt. I signed it and we left. There is no excuse for this. There were only two tables and we were at one of them. I don’t blame the waiter. I blame management. It was his first day and someone should have shadowed him. He was completely lost. The restaurant has no style. The room that we sat in had NO pictures and the walls are white. It looked like the inside of a refrigerator. They better make changes if they want future business.
It is a beautiful setting. Food was delicious as was the presentation. Service was perfect. Our only disappointment was that we wanted to sit outside and visit. They had live music and it was too loud. Music was good but too loud for dinner. I made the reservation through open table . It would be nice if somehow we could have known there was music and then we could have made our choice differently.
Food was delicious, service was very good, BUT, the music that was played was so LOUD that we couldn't have a conversation...asked if the volume could be lowered, was told there was nothing they could do...music is played on Thursday, Friday, Saturday - so if you want to have a conversation, maybe those are not the nights to go...by the way, except for a couple of tables in the bar, this is an outdoor restaurant...
On our last night in Napa we ate here, what a great experience !
We were running late and they held our reservation for us, a great start.
We were seated outside by one of their stunning fire pits which added to the already great ambiance .
The food and drinks were outstanding , but mostly the service. Relaxed and not rushed, a perfect experience .
We loved sitting outside and the guitar/harmonica player entertainer was fabulous. Good wine, tasty food and a lively crowd made the experience a happy one. We especially liked the Caesar salad and our entrees but we wished they had decaf coffee.
