Alan Wong's Restaurant
Our flagship restaurant in Honolulu has been recognized by numerous awards including those for "Best Tasting Menu", "Best Wine Program", "Best Service", and "Best Desserts." The culinary team is always striving to create new dishes that speak of our Farm to Table commitment, and our staff strives to make your romantic dinner, special occasion, or visit to Honolulu a memorable one for every guest.
Service was slow and unpredictable. Our waiter seemed to have to many tables. He was very polite and friendly though (as were all the people we spoke with). Food was part great and part not great. Appetizers were okay (lobster bisque and shrimp escargot dish). My main dish was sea bass. The sauce was delicious but the fish was almost raw. My husband had the short ribs. They were tender with good flavor. Thought shrimp on plate was confusing though. Wine by the glass was limited in selection. All in all was hoping for more.
Great food and great atmosphere. Nice candlelight setting, along with a nice view and service.
My wife and I do not normally go to "fancy" restaurants. We are usually just happy staying home or going to one of our regular places. But this was a special occasion (our 11th anniversary) so we decided to give Alan Wongs a try.
The service and the ambiance were terrific, but the food was beyond our expectations. By far the two items that stood out the most were the "Soup and Sandwich" (which we say on Food Network) and the "Seafood Lasagna". WOW is all I can say.
This truly was a wonderful experience and for two people that typically do not do something like this often, you guys hit it out of the park. Thanks!!!!
Best meal of the year! Fabulous!
Innovative and great tasting pacific regional cuisine. Food looked and tasted great.
My meal was delicious and lived up to expectations. My husband was not happy with his entree- the pasta was overcooked.
Service was extremely slow- we waited a very long time for our dinners.
Easy five stars. I got the "menu tasting" option plus an appetizer. Every course and dish was carefully crafted and artfully presented. Alan Wong's is a bit out of the way, being a mile or so away from Waikiki, but it's worth the detour. It wasn't hard to get a table there, but if Alan Wong's was in Waikiki, I have no doubt it would be packed.
Excellent service and management. Menu is wonderful and drinks range from moderate to expensive. Definitely need reservations.
The food was exquisite, the service was excellent, and the experience was worth every penny.
I never miss going to Alan Wong’s every time I visit hawaii,, always the best place for us to dine.
Everything was perfect! The kabocha soup was delightful, I have been thinking about how delicious it was and truly want more! I ordered the ginger crusted Onaga, it was wonderful! Another diner ordered ahi and loved her dish. Another diner ordered the steamed fish and was delighted with her dinner. We shared the coconut sorbet dessert, presentation was beautiful and it was DELICIOUS! Our waiter Conner was exceptional, as were the other servers who assisted him. Our dinner was a birthday celebration and they made it so special. Can hardly wait to return!!!
Alan Wong's food was great! Great quality and exotic flavor was interesting.!
Staff are really friendly! Our family all had a good time
Must go place to celebrate your special day.
Incredible experience...my only question is why we dont dine her more often? Each dish, each bite was excellent and well thought out. Erin was excellent!
Came on a recommendation, and Chef Wong’s reputation.
My wife and I had the Tasting Menu, and it was fabulous. The flavors, wine pairings, timing, and attention to detail, made it a memorable evening. Well Done!!!
Alan Wong's lives up to its well earned reputation. Food is delicious and creative. Service providers are knowledgeable about the menu and the flavors. Love the place!
Food very pricey and very good. a little bit inconsistent. my wife ordered the beef ribs. of the two pieces, one was overcook and the other was perfectly cooked. One reason why I chose this restaurant is that they have Onaga fish on their menu - it's one of their signature dishes. I personally would prefer the Onaga to be sautéed with minimal extra flavors; I feel that the restaurant overwhelms the fish with ginger crusting and miso sauce. We weren't impressed with the dessert menu. Their version of "Affogato" is so different that it's confusing (and disrespectful) to call it that: it's got coffee melee, chunks of biscotti, shave ice and a mediocre vanilla ice cream drowning at the bottom.
Service was very good and attentive
Atmosphere. the lighting is all indirect and even, so the tables and food are cast in a uniform shadow. I would have appreciated some lighting on the table to add color and contrast to the dishes -like even a small candle - and to create more of an intimate mood.
The best dinning in Honolulu, hands down. Food and service were tops.
Outstanding service with great attention to detail, the food was delicious and a perfect choice to celebrate an special occasion. Customized menu with signatures for the birthday celebrant was a perfect touch.
It's been almost 10 years since last dining here. A favorite then and good to see that some menu items are still available. Treated my hawaii family to dinner for putting me up while in Kaneohe. All enjoyed the evening!
I dine at AWs once a year and never disappointed. This time the timing of the appetizers and entree was a little too close, possibly needed another 30 minutes between courses. It’s always a little noisy, but who cares. It’s always fantastic to eat there!
Always consistently excellent !
Seating on time, food, service excellent !
We always return when we can.
Service was good but the scallop rissotto were a bit salty and twice cooked kalbi was a bit dry. Other than that everything was good
We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary. The restaurant made it extra special with our own menu souvenir and a delightful desert. AND the waiter was very helpful advising menu choices considering my salt sensitivity. We’ll be back!
We celebrated my birthday on our last day in Hawaii. I felt they made the evening special for my birthday. However, our appetizers did come out pretty slow. I did overall enjoy my food.
The class of Yelp. Excellent food, great and impeccable service.
A friend shared with us that Alan Wong's was running a Pau Hana special for a limited time and we were just blown away by the amazing food, ambience and high level of service we received. The menu choices included some of their customer favorites, such as the ahi and avocado stack, the twice cooked beef brisket, and "the coconut". Our server was very attentive and friendly. He made our evening there extra special. We're looking forward to our next visit!
Fabulaous Tasting Menu Dinner.
Try the tasting menu with wine pairings. Just sensational and the service was incredible!
Always superlative food and excellent service.
The presentation was beautiful and the taste was delicious. The lobster and shrimp “lasagna “ was amazing.
Service was extremely slow and my husband’s fish was overcooked. We’ve come to this restaurant every year for over 20 years and have never experienced such slow service. It was disappointing for these prices.
Great service and amazing food. The wait staff personalized our menu as we had just gotten married and signed it for us to take home.
One of the best meals we’ve had. The attention and service from the staff was superb and they really went above and beyond to make our anniversary special. Highly recommend.
Superb! Lived up to the hype. Amazing experience from start to finish. Will definitely come back here!
Food was good but not exceptional as we had grown accustomed. Also staff mistakenly took entree order and had to wait for proper order to arrive. Also appetizers arrived before our drink order. Not a great experience.
Wonderful meal. Too 10 experience. MUST DO if in Waikiki
Amazing food, delicious drinks and great service! Alan Wong’s exceeded all of our expectations. Thanks for a great night!
