Alan Wong's Restaurant
Our flagship restaurant in Honolulu has been recognized by numerous awards including those for "Best Tasting Menu", "Best Wine Program", "Best Service", and "Best Desserts." The culinary team is always striving to create new dishes that speak of our Farm to Table commitment, and our staff strives to make your romantic dinner, special occasion, or visit to Honolulu a memorable one for every guest.
Not only would I absolutely recommend this experience, but I would say don’t miss it! I’m definitely going to dine there once each future visit to Honolulu. The space itself is really nothing special, besides the city and hillside view out. It’s like a fancy hole in the wall, if such a thing exists. The food is epic! Large portions for a chef of his caliber and bold flavors. The presentations are tangible proof of cooking passion. And the value of said experience is excellent, compare to La Mer and other fine/unique dining experiences.
definite bucket list for me since culinary school years ago on B.I. Alan Wong's did not dissapoint. from our cocktails with "Da Bag" appetizer all of the way to dessert.
We had the most fabulous server,Jennifer, who added tremendously to the enjoyment of our dining experience. She was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu and very helpful when choosing our dishes. What an absolutely pleasant disposition!
Simply amazing! I did the fixed menu and they were super accommodating with me being pescatarian. Would highly recommend!
Had a wonderful 50th birthday celebration here. The staff even printed a personalized menu and gave it to me as a keepsake. This place always goes above and beyond - food, service, ambience. We love it here and keep coming back for a reason. This is a very special restaurant.
We went their for my partners birthday. He has never tried Alan Wong’s and we thought it would be ultra special. The food was great to excellent depending on the dish. Our busser was fantastic and deserved all the credit. Our server was at our table twice, although at other tables. My partner actually asked did we do something wrong? We ordered a bottle of wine and other than the initial pour, we did the rest ourselves. I was burnt on a oxtail dish that apparently comes from the oven. No I’ve ice was brought, I still had burns on my fingers three days later. I was so excited for my partner to try Alan Wong’s cuisine, and it was the biggest disappointment. We were over from the Big Island and to make a point of going and then being so disappointed. We had dinner with some of our friends from Oahu the next night and they said the same thing, they have stopped going because of the service. For the amount of money spent we all agreed that service should be a bit more. Out of this whole experience though, our busser was by far awesome.
Returning as a vacation to the island after a fifteen-year hiatus, I made sure to make reservations to Allan Wong’s Restaurant. Consistent, and to no surprise the food, service and ambiance was spectacular. They kindly accommodate for our situation. My son had become unwieldy and created a fuss and staff were attentive, ready to help. Due to some eating restrictions, the staff was polite to comply to our unorthodox request of a single meal. Overall wonderful experience and will be making it a point to stop by and visit again on our next visit to the island.
The best restaurant that I’ve been to in my life!
Amazing flavors in every dish, beautifully presented and impeccable service.
Outstanding food, lovely restaurant, amazing service! We loved our dinner at Alan Wongs!
Love this place.
Had a great experience. The special touches to celebrate our wedding anniversary was much appreciated. The food was amazing.
Came here for my birthday and was absolutely pleased! I did the tasting menu because I tend to not know what I want and would rather have options when I eat. That said, I didn’t realIze that the portion of the dishes in the tasting menu was quite large (though I guess it makes sense since it was a total of 5-6 dishes). My only thing would be to make the dishes small for the tasting menu but other than that, absolutely great!
I recommend going here and I would come back again.
Food was as expected, 5 star we had the Tomato Salad, Kaui shrimp escargot style which was my favorite of the night, The bag with its presentation was amazing and simply delicious and the texture and flavors of the diced Ahi Tower, well that dish is well thought of and creative!!!! The Watercress Ribeye I ate it with my eyes first since it’s beautifully presented and cooked to perfection and of course you also couldn’t go wrong with such a delicate dish the Opakapaka with its Truffle broth. Service was on point , very attentive and knowledgeable Micheal I believe was his name was a great Server and the chocolate crunch bars not a bad way to end this perfect night......
OFS! Superb professional service. Enticing menu; difficult to choose. Powerful and intense flavors. Everyone thoroughly their meals and will certainly recommend and return.
Food is excellent. Service is definitely lacking at a restaurant of this quality. We were always waiting on our server and when he did come, he was usually busy looking around the restaurant at his other tables and not listening or paying attention to us. Perhaps it was just our server as the others seemed more attentive.
I had heard many good things about this restaurant, but was sorely disappointed with my experience here. On the good side, presentation and service were top notch. On the poor side, most of the flavors were a miss for me and my girlfriend. We ordered the Ahi Stack, Da Bag, Whole tomato salad, XO scallops special, and the ginger crusted red snapper. The apps were good, although there was sand lingering in 2/5 of the clams in Da Bag. Both mains were a miss, flavor wise and in cooking technique. The scallops were overcooked and the sauce was too sweet, and my fish was also overcooked and tasted fishier than the snapper should have. The one redeeming course was dessert. "The coconut" both tasted delicious and looked amazing.
Overall, would not recommend, find another place to go for a fancy date.
The fish was not that fresh for our standard. The restaurant took it off the bill. I appreciate that. I was expecting a lot from this restaurant and we only order the item that was with the pineapple sign which mean famous recommended dish. However the food was average.
Wonderful meal that easily accommodated food allergies. Will return before our flight home. Excellent value at price point and superb service. Could not be more impressed
Food was delicious with perfect portion sizes. Aaron provided expert and stellar service.
Everything was fantastic!
Service was pretty slow. Took 3 hours for our entire meal.
Service was great! Very friendly. Appreciated the staff’s understanding and retelling of the story of each dish. We like knowing where our food comes from. Serving staff was very attentive. Good came quick and overall experience was wonderful!
We heard that this is a great restaurant known as international dishes. Althogh american taste food was so good, other Asian like dishes were under expectation. Combination of Asian dish and wine was not working well as well.
Food wasn’t as good as when I was here three years ago, but I would give it another try.
This was the best meal I’ve ever had. Such an amazing experience all around. I heard it was going to be great but every bite from appetizer through dessert was unbelievable.
Great quality food, small quantities though! They really do go with quality over quantity. Servers were timid, shy, and didn't talk much. The ambient is okay; the tables are so closely crammed together like sardines to the point where the neighbouring table spilled some red wine and it got all over my dress shirt...
I forgot how wonderful the food is at Alan Wong restaurant! We celebrated my husband’s birthday and our anniversary, and the food was fabulous! We each had the tasting menu, and each dish was so delicious! The waiter was kind enough to give us 2 different desserts and also a birthday and anniversary dessert! ( which we took home)
It was such a nice evening out! Thank you!
We always love to go to Allan Wongs for dinner when we are in Oahu. This time we came with family friends from Denmark. My criticism is singular. We were on time for our 7:45 dinner but despite giving our order in a timely manner we received no food until nearly 9:00 pm waiting almost an hour to receive the first of 3 courses. For a restaurant of Allen Wongs quality that is not acceptable. Though the food was wonderful as always and even a bit better than usual, it was completely overshadowed by the wait. Too much wine gets imbibed during a wait like this and pair that with hunger of an already late dinner and the fun goes right out if it! Apologies were rampant but restitution was no where to be seen. We’ll come again but I would not bring friends again and perhaps subject them to this possibility. It was also far to cold in the restaurant for the 3 hours we were there. 3 of the 5 at our table had to ask for a shawl just to try to stay comfortable.
Consistently great food and service. Preparation, presentation and taste - superb!
Went for a birthday dinner with two others. We ordered the menu tasting and had a great time. Everything tasted delicious and the waiting team were very informative and made really good suggestions. They really knew their stuff. Their tea selection is amazing too. Will definitely be coming back the next time I visit the island!
Was great. Very attentive staff. Meals were very well portioned.
A spectacular restaurant with impeccable knowledgeable service and delicious interesting asian fusion food combinations. The details and length they go to for a special occasion are like no other, and it has earned “my favorite restaurant on island”!!!
A birthday celebration for our granddaughter. It was excellent!!
A delicious meal, outstanding service, a wonderful experience!
Great service and food
