This restaurant is consistently excellent. The menu items were creative and well presented. We ordered the beef tenderloin and steaks and they were so delicious.
50th Birthday celebration. Busy valentine weekend so it was a full house. Staff still provided excellent service with attention to every detail including special menu and dessert
Been going to Alan Wong"s since its inception. Fee l like it has s downsized it menu. Would like to see the lamb and ophi shooters back on the menu.
Yes it was very good. Great wine pairing. Even the port which I usually don't like went well with the decadent gourmet kit kats and I was able to force it down.
Great tasting menu. Thank you for the experience.
The food was awesome and service was top notch
We have the salmon special on a bed of black risotto and the Machong fish both were delicious
The tasting menu is fantastic value, with ridiculously good food and very creative designs (I love the idea of the kalua pig sandwich with the glass of tomato soup!). The view of the mountains and citylife is also really beautiful. And finally, the service was amazing, from the great introduction to each dish to the general friendliness that everyone contributed to from the moment you get through the elevator doors.
Overall, one of the most extraordinary dining experiences we have had in a long time. Service was attentive and overbearing. Only mild complaint is that our waiter got tied up with a large table of 12 and this caused some inordinate long pauses late in our meal. Food was amazing; creative and seasoned perfectly. Atmosphere is special due to being on the 3rd floor, which allowed for nice scenic view of the mountains. Top notch experience.
This restaurant was highly recommended. I found what I ordered was overpriced and not much different from many other restaurants. I’d try it again but preferred other lower priced restaurants that were more innovative!
The food and service was good. Portions a bit small. Waiter suggested tomato salad. I wouldn't recommend it. Nothing stood out. A nice dinner. Just no 'wow' to speak of.
Had the tasting menu. Overhyped “signature” dishes. Short ribs were dry and tough. Other dishes mediocre at best. 1996 James Beard award winner. Seems not much has changed since then.
Two of us celebrated our milestone birthdays here and they made the evening memorable. Thank you so much!
Alan Wong’s exceeded expectation we had a wonderful experience with them. The food was good all around and service was very attentive. The personalized menu for our anniversary was a nice touch. The prefix menu was great value. It would have been nice to try more as we saw many of the other items on menu served around us. All beautifully presented as was ours. As the end of dinner I thought dessert summed up the whole meal. As my wife offered me the last of the chocolate crunch bar and says just a little dark for her as I was thinking could be a little more bitter lol. Alan Wong’s strikes that balance well
Darren, our server was excellent! He knew all the dishes, gave good recommendations, would request to sit in his section next time we go back.
Fantastic!
Delicious and beautifully presented food.
Excellent bartender.
Also appreciated the wine flight option.
Restaurant is consistent...We went there awhile ago and went there on the 10th and the food is just consistently good. We had two young and very attentive servers. Their service excellent! What more could we ask for?
We have eaten at Alan Wong’s a number of times, and this was something of a disappointing. We split a tuna spring roll, which was a good sized piece on tuna, which had been fried in rice paper. The tuna was was good, but very dry because it was served without sauce or herbs. A disappointment so I will not have it again. We both had the mahi-mahi which was good, but not great. We are dropping this restaurant from our rotation of our usual visits during our annual visits to Oahu. Others are better.
Alan Wong’s dishes are absolutely delicious! I highly recommend.
The tasting menu was the perfect choice for us because we couldn't make up our minds. The haupia sorbet dessert was amazing. I am going to dream about it.
We had a wonderful time at Alan Wong’s! We were there for our anniversary, and they made sure it was a special experience for us. From little touches to multiple people congratulating us, it was all a very enjoyable time.
Had short ribs that were not very tasty, hearts of palm Caesar salad unusual very large hearts of palm and pickled vegetables
Very nice attention to my birthday (menu signed by chef and team and presented to me to take hone at end of meal)
Team of servers - attentive at beginning of meal (5:15 reservation) and disappeared at end portion of meal. Gave large birthday dessert but did after we had eaten our dessert. Would prefer they told us it was coming. On third floor of office building. View from terrace is nice of mountains.
2 out of 6 had the short ribs, it was very, very dry and tough, veggies over seasoned. Our waiter was indifferent and not attentive. The lI hing mui dressing is not the same as before. We always look forward to our vacation visit to Alan Wong’s every year. We will not go back, will go to 3660 on the rise instead. Very, very disappointed, certainly NOT Alan Wong’s standard.
The food was amazing, the waiter incredibly helpful and the ambiance was perfect!
Favorite restaurant when we visit Hawaii. Never disappoints
Always ono & excellent!!! AW’s is a must every time we come back to the islands. Fresh. Light. Amazingly prepared fish. Make a reservation b:c tables usually all booked.
The tasting menu offered a fabulous tomato fusion that was terrific. The lobster and shrimp offering would have been good without the tomato sauce. The white fish with mushroom and nut crush was OK. The short rib was dry and grossly disappointing.
The wine pairings of cheap wine were a joke. A Spanish Galacian was terrible. The special Alan Wong selections are to be avoided.
Our waiter tried but telling me every dish was his favorite was preposterously offensive. The service was far below what I have enjoyed in less expensive restaurants.
Disappointing night. Not going back.
Service felt a little rushed although tables available throughout our visit.
Short rib in the tasting menu was over cooked and most not finished.
We’ve eaten here many times over the years. It was by far our favorite restaurant in Hawaii in the past. The past 2 experiences have been average at best. The menu hasn’t been updated in a while and the food was OK. Definitely a change from when it was such an exciting culinary experience.
席が出入り口に近く、落ち着かなかったのが残念。
THE beat red snapper I have enjoyed anywhere! Excellent service too. Don’t let the front of the building or neighborhood deter.
Food was excellent, fresh in terms of recipes, nice sauces. Granted it was Honolulu, so prices are what they are, but I'd overall recommend. One thing that was really nice was the noise level, most restaurants today you can barely hear yourself think, let alone talk. Here is a great spot for a nice meal to celebrate the end of a great holiday
We always make a point of coming here when on Oahu. Always a treat!
Excellent set menu dinner. Went twice and mercer désappointéd
Bon resto, mais cher. Il y a de meilleurs restaurants pour le rapport qualité prix.
On our last night in Honolulu we always go here for a meal.
Never disappoints. Love trying something new each time. This time had the beef which was cooked to perfection. Great service as usual.
Food was excellent, wait staff tried hard but the timing was just not up to par. ESPECIALLY for the birthday dessert!! My dessert arrived quickly, as it was ice cream, I started eating it...slowly of course as I expected my friend's birthday dessert to arrive shortly...BUT IT DID NOT!! In fact, it did not arrive until we had gotten up to leave!!!! Granted the waiter asked us "if we could wait a few more minutes as there was a birthday surprise coming", this was as he placed the bill on the table. So we waited & waited then decided "the heck with it" & got up to leave. Just then he whisked a plate of chocolate cake in front of my friend but upon seeing us standing, he quickly said "I'll box this to go then" and he whisked the plate away quickly returning with her take away. We were very disappointed at the bad timing of that. The ice cream could have been served later along with her birthday dessert so we could both have enjoyed the desserts. We may return but probably NOT TO CELEBRATE ANYTHING.
The Ahi sashimi, ox tail soup and coconut dessert were excellent. The Onaga and short rib very good. Parmesan mashed potato are not mashed but pureed. We decided not to order fixe menu as it is a must for the table so it didn't allow us to order the Ahi sashimi or ox tail soup which were both excellent. The coconut dessert is a must and large enough to share.
Great! Unique experience to sit in front of the kitchen area. Very interesting to watch and associate chefs preparing dinners and they were very cordial.
So happy to get the tomato salad again
Enjoyed the twice cooked short ribs and Oxtail soup. The best dish at our table was the talapia; amazing. If you like it exactly right...eat here.
