Well done dishes that were beautifully presented and incredibly tasty.
Restaurant week here was great!
We went to Ala for restaurant week. I enjoyed the watermelon feta salad, the lamb chop/shrimp dish, and the baklava. Wasn’t a big fan of the dips—I feel like mezze tastes better elsewhere. Our server was attentive, and I appreciated that. The unique wines were also good.
Such an amazing experience at Ala! We ordered mainly meze dishes and very full for the hot plates- I got the Pandora coctail and hubby went for more traditional raki. We got all the cheese dishes, lahmacun, hummus and lot of pita ! The ambience and service are top notch. Their brunch is amazing and their dinner definjtely matches it. Highly recommend - there is street parking and Colonial parking garage right next door so very convenient!
When I looked at reviews online one of the first things I saw was how hospitable the staff were. This was extremely correct. Our server was extremely kind & patient, and so was the manager. This was my date & I’s first time at the restaurant so the server took their time to explain all our questions. Food was good, but had a snack before at another stop so we did not eat as much as originally intended. The surf and turf was super tasty and the Pandora drink was delicious and smelled amazing. It helps that the Pandora was made and I believe supports financially, the efforts to stop violence against women. We also ordered something that was grains and tomatoes with cilantro. It was super tasty as well. We will definitely return to this spot to explore more of their menu.
Not to be missed.!.
Wow! Just all around amazing experience! The food was to die for and each plate had such a unique flavor. My favorite dish was definitely the watermelon salad. But honestly the best part was the friendly and knowledgeable staff! They guided through our whole meal. Such a special spot!
Saw multiple rats running around restaurant
Excellent choice … first time diners at this lovely restaurant just off DuPont Circle. Wait staff was attentive …. Helpful with menu choices … food was EXCELLENT … my husband says the best hummus he’s ever had … pear confit and baklava topped off our experience …. Complimented by Turkish tea, compliments of the house!!! Highly recommended
I highly recommend Ala in DC. We had a great dining experience. We chose their bottomless food option and were able to enjoy several items from the menu. We also had some delicious cocktails and a glass of rose.. They have a great selection of wines. Service was great and everyone was pleasant.
The food was good and server was knowledgeable about vegan options. They also had some very reasonably priced but interesting wines
Amazing drinks, food, and service!
Kimberly was a fantastic server and the food was enormously creative and flavorful. Some dishes were more spicy than expected but were all excellent. The desserts were fabulous as well and glad to see the zero alcohol beer.
Food was overly seasoned and somewhat spicy. Portions were very disappointing. The service was slow. The place and ambiance were nice, but great food is the most important thing, and what was served wasn’t what we expected at all.
Lots of vegan options! Portions are small (mezzo style) so get a couple plates to share.
Fun times B
The food was delicious, very fresh. Went on a Saturday night so it was very crowded and service was all over the place, but they tried their best to accommodate our orders. We can't wait to go back!
One of the best restaurants I’ve ever visited in my life. Food is beyond delicious, outstanding service specially our server Rahel. Very beautiful atmosphere... MUST TRY
We've gotten take-out a few times in the last year, but eating in person was wonderful! Main dishes were brought family style. Can't wait to go back
Absolutely a highly recommended place for great food and a nice atmosphere! Loved how the waiters were trying to help explain how to eat the bread and appetizers in the traditional way!
Also, we were accommodated earlier than our reservation time which was a great plus!
I Will definitely be back for more next time I am in DC!
Great service, wonderful food. The patio was very enticing and allowed for food people watching. Very glad ala made it through the pandemic. Also, DuPont is wonderful and safe. Worth a visit if you are in town.
Great food, friendly staff, amazing drinks, and a festive dining setting with good music.
My dad has been coming to this restaurant and it hasn’t disappointed me to this day. Drinks have their own spin on Levant cuisine, and the food is of great quality and flavors.
Many thanks for making the experience wonderful.
Great experience. Would definitely come back for brunch!
Great food great atmosphere love this place
Food and cocktails were fantastic. Great service, location, outdoor dining area, and vegan options. We can't wait to go back.
Some really tasty dishes here!
I enjoyed the ambiance and food so much that 2 days after my visit, I brought my visiting family there. Unfortunately, it was a significantly different experience on a Saturday night vs Monday night. The Simit kebab was not edible whereas it was a highlight during my first visit. The falafel were significantly larger and tastier over the weekend than on Monday night as well. I left disappointed that this was like going to a completely different and sub-par restaurant compared to the impressive one I'd experienced on a weekend night. Staff were absolutely lovely and attentive throughout both experiences. I think this place has great potential but needs to standardize its food quality so it doesn't leave diners disappointed.
I’m a fan of seasoning but they use way too much, you order seasoning with a small side of food. Drinks are nothing different from what other dc places offer - the dessert was hoping would be good but it didn’t taste like halva more like a chocolate rose water mousse.
The food was good but I ordered Salmon and I got upset stomach .
Bland food but good atmosphere. Too bad the chef isn't very good.
The food was meh (definitely not up to its price point, compared to some other Mediterranean cuisine locations in DC), the service was haphazard and distracted. Overall, not the best experience
if you're looking for a bottomless brunch with decent food, you will have a good experience. I've been to a whole bunch, and this one offers food options that are just OK. Dishes are tiny, even in comparison to other brunches, and only 1-2 were exceptional. I also felt the atmosphere outside could have been better. Yes, it's COVID time, but you can see some of the outdoor dining places and how they decorated the outdoor space much better.
Food was okay. I got the ribs and it was very dry but the harissa hummus was good. I might try again for brunch to see if it’s better.
Great food and great service.
Literally the best place ever the food was soooooo good
Our waitor was incredible. He was attentive and served us promptly and with care. I had a party of 5 do bottomless brunch (drinks + food) on Saturday, 04/24 which was delicious and inexpensive! We will definitely return ASAP! Great atmosphere, too.
Excellent good and service. Outdoor seating accommodated pandemic concerns. We will return!
Angel was an amazing server, made good recommendations and all the food and drinks came out on time and were delicious. 10/10 I will definitely be back soon.
Great experience! The staff was wonderful and knowledgeable, the food was delicious, and the wine was amazing. Looking forward to going back!
