Intimate dining. Not too loud. Good fixed price tasting menu. Pleasant environment. Plan to return!
Took Mi Corazón to dinner here, and we had the most Romantic night. She went to school abroad in Italia and said the food at Al Vento is up to par with with its roots.
Fantastic food and service. Nice wine selection. Strongly recommend. The only negative was the very icy sidewalk. Walk carefully the food is worth it.
Tried this restaurant with family for my birthday celebration...the food was not good, especially for the price you pay, and the service was not good either. The only enjoyable part was that the atmosphere of dimmed lighting, which was nice/romantic if you were to go there for a date, but I unfortunately would not recommend this place.
This was a wonderful venue for a "friends get together"; the staff gave us plenty of time to catch up and have an unhurried evening together. Great recommendations for drinks and foods. The food was very tasty and creative. Will certainly go back again. Will love the outdoor space when the weather warms up.
We came in as first timers for my birthday dinner (40th). The restaurant itself was very cute. It was a Tuesday night at 630 so it was pretty quiet. Our server had only 1 other table. We ordered the tomato bisque soup and a Caesar salad to start, the soup was delicious, very unique unfortunately the salad never came. Based on my research we ordered the Bucatini and Linguini with clams. Both entrees were delicious. Tiramisu for dessert...made in house was everything I hoped it would be an more. I could have licked the plate. All in all it would’ve been a 10 had we gotten the Caesar salad we ordered. Either way I will be back...hopefully soon.
We enjoy eating at Al Vento's. The food is always good and the service is great - very attentive. We had one of their pasta specials along with a glass of wine during their happy hour from 2 - 6 PM. Their prices are reasonable and the setting is quiet so you can have a conversation without shouting. If you like Italian food, we recommend that you try Al Vento's.
As always, the food was delicious and service friendly. My friend and I shared the bruschetta sampler, each was better than the last. Especially like that the bread was sliced a little thinner, a better balance with toppings! My friend had the bean and vegetable soup which was delicious and served piping hot, as soup should be. I loved my meatball with mother sauce, but wish it had been warmer. Tiramisu was a delicious treat. Al Vento is one of my favorites!
There were only a few tables full when we arrived at the restaurant so the experience started out strong with the cold starters coming out in a timely manner. Unfortunately, we then waited an hour for our hot egg entree. We asked the server several times when the dish would arrive. Finally after being at the restaurant for one and a half hours without receiving our egg dish we asked for our check. The server did comp our bill .
Always excellent service and food. Kind of loud but all places seem like that these days
The scallops were phenomenal! Lovely wine. Knowledgeable staff
Everyone in our group chose the tasting menu, which appeared to offer an exciting exploration of interesting food. My wife and I chose a first course of shrimp, oysters and mushrooms with a black olive aioli. I was startled that everything but the aioli was battered and deep fried. I was also disappointed with the result. For the second course, my wife had a competent, but unexciting, beet salad. I had a blah navy bean based soup. For the entree, I had short ribs which appeared and tasted like mystery meat. My wife's (and our friends') choice for an entree ran out. My wife had a so-so chicken saltimbocca as a replacement. The meal was topped off by an OK gelato. In sum, what looked very promising on the menu resulted in no good reason to return.
Felt ignored. Although there was an event in the back, staff were on top of their game in the front... except our table for 2. I still can’t figure out why. Good food. I’d go back again. Just odd that I had to wave down staff multiple times. Bummer.
Great food and beverages. Knowledgeable staff. We were there for almost 3 hours and they continued filling our water glasses and never made us feel we were over staying our welcome.
Nice place for brunch with a group! The bottomless bloody was a hit too!
Food was delicious. Service was excellent. No complaints.
we went to Al Vento for restaurant week in the Twin Cities, and we enjoyed a two course meal. The choices were good.
The food is soooo good. Had the scallops and they were perfectly cooked and the deep fried oysters were crispy but moist and tender on the inside. My favorite place to go for a Old Fashioned. Service was attentive, I have never had a bad meal there.
Our meal was extremely well prepared, very flavorful.
As always, Al Vento delivered. I had the gnocchi and it was amazing.
My friend and I went to Al Vento for Restaurant Week. It was a four course tasting menu. Our server was running around and I feel they should have had another one in that section. The first course was a fried oyster with black aioli. The presentation was something left to be desired. The aioli was salty and the dish was swimming in it. Second course was a clam soup. I had bits of clam shells in my rich soup. Also they were not properly cleaned, thus I found bits of sand and grit. Third course was a braised short rib. The balsamic reduction was overwhelming. It seemed like it was more of a pot roast. Last was a tiny scoop of ice cream, but it was a nice palette cleanser. Overall the courses were timed perfectly. However, I feel the food was not up to par with the description given on the website. I might be inclined to try this restaurant again, when they aren’t overwhelmed.
I took my mother in law to Al Vento on Sunday (2/18/2018) for Restaurant Week and it was AMAZING! We got four courses total and the menu was so diverse, anyone could find something. I had the oyster fritto black aioli, which I would explain as a deep fried oyster with such light breading and the oyster was still basically raw. They were perfect! Then the Caesar salad with the best tasting dressing I've ever had - I can only assume house made (just like everything else). Third course was three giant scallops with avocado, pomegranate seeds, beet shoestrings, and a creamy polenta. My mouth is just watering thinking about it. Final course was a cherry, pecan, cinnamon, rum cake gelato specially made just for Al Vento! There was also a 1/2 off special on a particular bottle of wine. Our waitress told us on the way out they ALWAYS have a tasting menu (similar to restaurant week) and it changes every so often so you can keep trying it. My M.I.L. had completely different choices for each course, but they were equally delicious! Ambiance was quiet (but not TOO quiet) and very special feeling. They had an outdoor area about the same size as the restaurant, but closed for winter I'm assuming. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone that asks for a hidden gem or delicious food. 10/10
My wife and I had a great Valentine's dinner! Parking is a bit of a trick, but it always is at the good places!
Al Vento is always fantastic! Every time we go I wonder why we don't go more often. It truly is a neighborhood gem that I love to recommend to friends who have never been there before.
Wonderful for a quiet date. Though we were scheduled to arrive at nine and they close at nine, they allowed us to dine at our leisure in spite of the reservation error. This should explain all you need to know about their devotion to the diner. A+ service that you barely realize is there until you need them, often moments before you look for a server. Amazing food. If there's a low point, it's in the somewhat variable crowd (a couple were drunk and loud), but be assured, it was tolerable.
This is our "go to" whenever we want a great meal at a great value. Fresh made makes it good everytime.
Changed a reservation to take out babysitter canceled due to illness all good but they forgot a salad.too late to get another.
Went for valentine's day. We thought the food was good but slightly overpriced for what it was. Not uncommon for a V-day menu though. The covered patio was a little loud when it filled up but it didn't bother us. The inside would've been much quieter if we had wanted it. Overall, had a great time. Looking forward to coming back for their outdoor summer patio and trying their regular menu.
Charming place with a friendly staff......Groovy atmosphere too
We have eaten at Al Vento several times per year for many years, but this was the first time we decided to try their special menu for Valentines Day. My wife had the crab crostini, Ceasar Salad and Salmon while I had the Beef in Tomato juice appetizer, the Ceasar and the Braised Short Ribs. We very much enjoyed all of the courses in our respective meals. Despite every table being filled, the serving staff was very efficient and were always just a step away whenever a course needed to be served, a water glass refilled, a dirty dish cleared. They provided great service and always did so with a smile. Al Vento continues to be one of our favorite restaurants and we highly recommend it to all who are seeking great Italian food at good prices.
It was an amazing time!
Great place to grab a quiet, fancy dinner with your SO. Food was great, service was friendly and amazing - manager made sure to ask us a few times how the night was going so you can definitely tell they care about their patrons. Definitely recommend.
Our dining experience started off great. We arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation due to a snafu in our plans before dinner. They were able to seat us right away which was aweomse and much appreciated. Things went downhill from there. We ordered the calamari to start and it came out overly breaded and over fried. Our server never stopped by to see how it was or how we were doing but a very courteous assistant/busser inquired and we told her we didn’t want it and why and asked her to relay the message to our server. She asked if we wanted a fresh order and we said no, but maybe 7 minutes later another order arrived (not much different from the first), we didn’t eat much at all. Then our entrees came out and my husbands was cold. A man in a sport coat came by and asked how everything was, we told him my husbands meal (spinach ravioli and meatball) was cold and they sent it back to the kitchen to heat it up. Again, our server never stopped by to see how our meal was and didn’t acknowledge the disappointment with our appetizer or entree when she brought the bill. And the bill included the full cost for both of them. Our total bill for an appetizer, soup, two entrees and a glass of wine was around $78 (before tip). We’re used to paying that for a night out but not for underwhelming food and poor service. I must say the assistant/busser was great, just not our actual server. If you’re looking for consistent, tasty Italian food and great service - I’d direct you to Broders, Prima or Bar La Grassa.
We were disappointed in a couple of the entrees. Unfortunate for us the hanger steak was very salty and half our party ordered it and weren’t able to eat it. My husband however was very pleased with his tasting menu and the appetizer of shrimp and calamari was fantastic. Love the atmosphere and will go again and maybe be a little more cautious and ask more questions when ordering.
I had been here previously for date nights and it was amazing. This past time, was just okay. Our server was impeccable and the food was great, but we were there (a group of six) celebrating a special occasion and were crammed up front near the hostess desk. There were people hitting my mother in law with their coats and forcing themselves in the small space between her and the hostess desk waiting for their tables, as there isn't an official waiting area. I had only sat in the back room previously and this was my in laws first time visiting the restaurant, so we were all taken aback by the experience. It was just frustrating because reservations were recommended and the hostess continued taking walk-ins when there was no space for them to wait. During this time, she never apologized to our table for our inconvenience. My advice, request a table in the back room, otherwise, it'll ruin your experience.
We really enjoyed our evening here. The building is beautiful and cozy and the menu had some fun cocktails and amazing food choices.
Everything was great from the service to the food...we will be back
4 course wine dinner was great. Food was imaginative, and paired well with the wine. Portions were generous for that many courses.
Great food. We been to your place about 20 times- always good. We had a wild 18 month old child but were there very early and staff seemed forgiving .
