Al Vento Ratings and Reviews
Had dinner midweek and ate on the open porch. We were there during a rainstorm. The windows were open so enjoyed listening to the rain. The beet salad was amazing. It was freshly made. We both had pasta dishes and they were perfectly prepared. This is one of our favorite restaurants.
A friend and I went there during Restaurant Week. The set menu was a combo of regular menu items. Delicious! Every dish was great - get the mussels and the encrusted salmon with spinach risotto.
We sat on the patio, and service was friendly, and they let us have a leisurely dinner. We'll be back!
We had a fantastic meal during restaurant week and the service was great. We tried the wild mushroom bruschetta, the caprese salad which was simple yet, amazing, and the salmon. The flavors with the salmon were perfect. I would definitely come back. They have a nice patio if you are willing to wait or get their early. The noise level in the inside dining room gets pretty loud when all the tables are full.
Delicious menu for Restaurant week! The steak frites were scrumptious, Chef Hunt always teases tremendous flavor into his steaks. My date loved the salmon and our mussels were delicious as usual. Delightful to hit Happy Hour and sip the Parker Station Pinot Noir for a super price!
Once again Al Vento made our anniversary special. The food was wonderfully prepared and the portions were just right. The half price bottles of wine is always a great deal and the selection is amazing. The service was perfect, Nicholas was attentive, friendly and offered great advise. All in all, a memorable dinner!
Our food was a mixed bag- some good, some lacking finesse. Service was mixed as well - we were promptly sat and served water but had to ask the assistant to order drinks 15 minutes later. Our server later told us she thought we were not happy when we first sat down?! Likely won't be back.
Ice machine was broken on this hot night where we waited and waited for beverages....then waited and waited for menus....and so on. The company was good so filling the time wasn't difficult but it was noteworthy. I had requested outside seating on the open table app but they sat us inside.
Always a delightful meal at al Vento. Come early, come late... but come often! You will be delighted with the innovative tasting menu, the seasonal dishes, (fantastic Halibut) as well as the core favorites. Chef Jon Hunt and his bar team also curate a wine list that is as robust as it is afforable, especially on half priced bottle of wine nights!
Featured wine (a Barbera) was excellent; tasting menu variable very good to OK; boar and pork dishes a bit dry; pork a tasty cherry based plate sauce that while good with the sautéed veggies, a bit of flavor disconnect with the walnut crusted pork. I've had better luck here in the past.
Food was delicious but the service was laughable. Our appetizer came very late and we were assured that we wouldn't pay for it. Then it was on our bill but our server told us it "just looked like that but I took it off." No, they were figured in the total. We had to wait for 35 minutes for our dessert, too. And the server asked us multiple times how we wanted our check and it was still messed up (beyond the mushrooms...).
Great Neighborhood gem. The staff is very attentive and friendly. We went for our anniversary and the manager brought us each a glass of prosecco to start the evening. The food that followed was outstanding. I would recommend Al Vento as they also have a great tasting menu that changes weekly. And watch for the wine dinners as they are also a great deal.
I had the Bucatini pasta which was spicy and delicious. It was similar to the dish at Rinata. It was half off bottle of wine night so that made the drinks affordable. Otherwise ordering a bottle or by the glass might get kind of expensive. We sat on the covered patio while it rained and it was dry and very cool to feel outside in the rain. The only negative of the patio is that it has small tables for two out in the middle and in the open. We were seated there first and asked to be moved. There is just no privacy at those types of tables and spending close to $90 we wanted some privacy. Service was great. Overall we would defiantly to back. It's a cute little neighborhood place in south Minneapolis.
