Great food and great service.
The food has gone down hill. Our meatballs were all pork, no prosciutto, or beef, & the weren't sautéed. Had a limy texture. Also, should use local shrimp. The gnocchi were a fabulous texture.
Was really hoping for a side order of risotto but was told no. 😩
Work dinner/holiday party.
Our server Daniele was awesome! And the food was and always is, delicious.
Waiter was rude. Second time I have been back after living in West Ashley 15 years ago and twice had terrible rude service. It is a shame. This was my favorite restaurant in Charleston.
Very limited menu and no kids menu. My food was good but kids took most of it home.
We had a wonderful meal at Al Di La!! The food is consistently delicious! We also enjoyed the Montepulciano wine that was on the wine list by the glass. The service was great- our waiter Carl treated us very well!!
Danielle was our server tonight. Although most of their staff are fabulous, Danielle came from Italy only a few years ago and given that he loves to cook (and eat), we know we can trust his recommendations. The owner always treats us as if we are his only customers -- it is nice to be treated special.
If you have just two or three eating, ask for their elevated booths...very romantic.
It was a very pleasant experience. The food was really good authentic Italian. The server was very knowledgeable and attentive. We will be sending our guests at Waterway to Al Di La
Went there for my birthday dinner and all 7 of us were very impressed. The menu and taste were very authentic, fresh, and delicious. Our server was polite, pleasant, entertaining, and accommodating. The atmosphere was on point. Excellent experience ...
Great service and the host was quite talkative. Overall loved the authenticity of the food and they even did a special gluten free dish for my girlfriend. But don't expect that kind of special treatment when they're super busy, I was told the dish was very time consuming.
Food is consistently good with excellent variety. The service is also consistently outstanding with servers that are knowledgable, personable, there when you need them, but also know how to let you dine in piece. Wine selection is a bit limited and cocktails seem to be easier to order on the bar side rather than the restaurant side.
Portions are a little on the small side for the cost, but that was OK. The thing I was not crazy about was ordering the pasta and eggplant special and there was absolutely no eggplant or very, very little. Waiter was very nice though. They were all about turning over tables. I get that also, but I did feel rushed. Not going back unfortunately.
Penne pasta with vodka sauce not so good as last time...delicious pasta sauce we normally get not in evidence. Egg plant Parmesan good and ravioli special excellent. Still a favorite and we will be back soon. Service excellent.
Always an outstanding dinner. The gnocchi are unbelievable!
Very good warm feeling. Delightful waitress. I don’t like the fact I hat I must take the time to write a 50 character review.
Quality has slipped. Used to be one of our favorites. Overpriced and below par. Arugula and beet salads fine. Eggplant parm with overcooked spaghetti on side - could do better at home. Mussels - sauce OK but 3-4 unopened (dead) and 3-4 broken in bottom of bowl - terrible. Lots of bread and decent wine. Server fine. Will not return.
Danielle was fabulous! He selected an outdoor table for us and installed a nice umbrella. D was very gracious and welcoming my out of state clients who along with me were celebrating a significant court win! The gnocchi was pillowy soft (home made) and easily the best in West Ashley. One of my clients also very much enjoyed the Vodka sauce with sausage. I did not get a chance to sample the wine but will do so next time around.
Had the most wonderful birthday dinner at Al DI LA for my daughters 30th birthday. Food was scrumptious from the appetizers, right to dinner, and let’s not forget dessert which is made in house. Service was impeccable while at the same time light and fun. Can’t wait to go back, win win choice all around.
The food was authentically divine and the service was professional yet intimate. Loved every bite and every second!
The pasta and sauces here are out of this world delicious! We had lunch and I ate the gnocchi with shrimp. I was so happy with the chef: he is very talented.
Great food and service, just a tad bit noisy once it filled up
We had dinner at Al Di La on a Thursday night. Service was good and pretty attentive. The wait staff was very personable. We had beet salad and tomato basil soup to start. The salad was very good. The soup was good, but not outstanding. For entrees we had chicken parmigiana and the risotto of the day, which was a butternut squash risotto with sausage. The chicken was OK, but nothing special. The chicken breast could have been trimmed more thoroughly. The butternut squash risotto was unexpectedly sweet, with bits of what seemed to be caramelized sugar. The sausage in the risotto was tasty, but the disconnect between the savory sausage and the unusual sweetness made for a dish that was weirdly at odds with itself We have had much better meals at Al Di La in the past.
Wonderful! Delicious! Great service!
Always like Al Di La, this time we had to wait over 15 minutes after being seated for a Server to come to our table! We had guests with us who were new to the restaurant and this poor beginning set a bad tone. Very embarrassing!
This is our favorite Italian restaurant in Charleston.
Avondale Restaurant Week - staff was overwhelmed, running in all directions. We were seated for 10 minutes before our server stopped by to apologize and provide water, poof he was off again, and that pretty much describes service for the evening, long pauses. Food was mediocre at best, if I didn’t know how good the food is when it’s not restaurant week, this restaurant would be off the list. Owners should have added more wait staff or stagered reservations and walk-ins to allow the kitchen and staff time to keep up. We will be back, but not for restaurant week.
I really can't now look at my yelp review
Fabulous dinner. Delicious food and fabulous service.
Tried items from restaurant week menu and aside from small portions all was very nice. Had theater tickets and the waiter tried hard to get us out quickly. Valet park to avoid the tight lot
Dinner was amazing! We caught the start of Charleston Restaurant week. We had a 3 course meal with multiple choices per course. The fresh mozzarella, filet and tiramisu were fantattic! I would recommend Al Di La to everyone!
Very good food with good service, but the very high noise level made it nearly impossible to carry on a conversation.
In the past, I didn't particularly care for this restaurant for several reasons. This time was beyond what I was expecting. The steak was very tender and tasty. The waiter was very cordial and attentive. My one star review from past experience got changed to five stars with one visit. We do plan to dine there again.
Great meal. Had the special cod and scallops. Service wa prompt and knowledgeable.
Great food, service was soso, wait for was more concerned with chatting than waiting. The atmosphere was a bit cheap for what you pay, then again there were only 6 people in the restaurant. The chef would not substitute chicken for shrimp, we were told that they only had shredded chicken. This is Italian right we should have cutlets for days.
we arrived at 7PM. ordered our meal selections at 7:15 . we were ready to leave at 8:30 without receiving our meal. It finally arrived at 8:40. OPne mealarrived with scallops not shrimp which was ordered. We rejected the scallops cancelled my daughter's meal and left. Did not want to wait another 30 mins. Our 3 pasta meals were not hot.It appears they were wainting for the other 3 meals to be cooked,. Very disappointed since we frequently ate at AiDiLa.
Friendly, courteous staff, delicious fare, good wine selection.
Service was beyond stellar! It was my first time visiting the establishment and it most def will not be my last!
Al Di La never disappoints! It has consistently good food and always attentive and timely service. Our favorite Italian restaurant.
