Al Di La
Some features of Al Di La: handmade pasta selections, fresh daily-baked focaccia bread, delicate desserts prepared on-site, an extensive Italian wine list, a wine bar, and two outdoor patios. Guests also have the choice of enjoying wood-fired pizzette, Italian cheeses, meats, and vegetables to name a few. Join us anytime and prepare to get away, or as 'al di la' translates to mean, prepare to go 'beyond the beyond.'
Our dinner at Al di La was absolutely delicious! Our server was properly attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful. The food was fabulous and authentic!
The menu has changed significantly and not for the better. The food was very bland. I was with a party of 5 and none of us enjoyed our meal. Two of the guests had things floating in their wine. The options for salads were not good. At one time you offered a Shepards salad which was wonderful. It is gone. Italian food should be flavorful, and decedent. That is not what we experienced. It was also very dark in the restaurant. I could hardly see what I was eating. The vibe is not like it once was. There were very few people in what once was a vibrant restaurant. I am sure the above-mentioned items are the reason there were very few patrons in the restaurant.
Our first visit by a recommendation. Small, but very nice. After a while it got pretty noisy when all the tables were in use. All of our meals were good except for my wife's shrimp dinner. It had a total of one (1) shrimp. She did not tell me about the tasty shrimp meal until we were home or I would have sent it back. Overall we enjoyed our meal & would be willing to try again.
We came on a fairly calm evening but there only appeared to be 1-2 servers for the restaurant, which resulted in slow service. The menu is small, so I would suggest taking a look prior to dining. Mussels were average, gnocchi was very good. Caprese salad was delicious!
Very nice evening here with friends (and kids). Our server was very accommodating, friendly and provided great service. Food was well seasoned and portions were perfect.
Would recommend and would visit again.
I haven’t been to this restaurant in years and back then I thought it was amazing. This time service was not very observant and it was hot inside. Waitress never asked if we needed anything. She would run by, drop something off and keep going. Risotto was so salty it almost wasn’t edible. Salad was great.
We had a reservation for 8 PM and we decided at the last minute to dine inside instead of outside due to the extremely warm weather. Unfortunately, inside was just as warm as outside due to an A/C issue. The restaurant was understaffed and they where sold out two of their signature meals. My order of braised pork with mashed potatoes and sauteed broccoli was extremely salty. My wife's order of bolognese was delightful and she thoroughly enjoyed it.
As always, everything was delicious.
Great service. The food was mediocre. However, the Gnocchi was really good and I understand it is made in house. The other pasta dishes - meh. The bottles of wine were overpriced.
Great food and very good service. Prices are reasonable so I will make it a regular spot
Pleasantly surprised . Very good food and great waitress I will definitely go back.
The food and service are amazing here! Would recommend to anyone.
A nice place! Would have given the food a better rating, but it was not hot enough for 2 of the 4 in our party.
Will go back.
SO GLAD we gave this place another try. Went about a year prior and weren't too keen on the food, service or ambiance. This time - much better! It was nice enough to sit outside under the strung cafe lighting which provided an intimate setting - the inside's decor kind of strays from the italian feel.
Food was also great. I am an Italian aficionado and rarely am fully satisfied with my meal but all of us loved our entrees! The bruschetta is a must! Service is also spectacular and friendly from start to finish.
Excited to go back.
We were greeted in a friendly manner and seated right away. Our waiter Giovanni was so attentive, funny & knowledgeable. Everything was delicious and creatively prepared. My husband and I wondered how we hadn’t known about this outstanding restaurant before. I have no negative comments—just praise.
only thing we waited on was the check, lovely date experience
The food, service, and welcoming attitude at Al di La are exceptional. My one complaint is the level of noise once the restaurant begins to fill. When I can understand what someone is saying all the way across the room, there is a problem....not with the restaurant, but with the talker's manners. Although the restaurant doesn't cause such problems, the noise level makes one less inclined to eat there as often as they otherwise would.
I used to love coming here. It was busy, vibrant and kinda the spot to be.
However this past visit it just seemed blah.
Very quiet, kinda run down, not as clean as usual.
Carpaccio was not exactly the freshest. I was disappointed.
Bread and olive oil was great, the duck pasta was very yummy.
Tiramisu was tasty but over loaded with chocolate powder as was my espresso martini.
Again it wasn't bad it just wasn't as wonderful as so many other visits in the past.
Service was outstanding per usual.
The girls working were positive, fun, and worked very hard.
The food was mediocre at best. The waitstaff was very attentive and the ambiance was fine, although a little loud.
Amazing service and food! Everything a fun night out should be.
FIrst time visit. Did not know what to expect. It was wonderful. The food was amazing and we sat outside amid fresh herbs, flowers, fans, music and lovely lighting.
Forrest was inattentive. One example - he served bread to a table that was seated after us. He noticed and rushed bread over to us realizing his mistake. While there was an issue with the computer system, the computer system had nothing to do with the food quality. I’ve had better at this restaurant. This is one of my favorites in Avondale and overall I was disappointed with this visit.
Loved all aspects of this place!!
Service was great & food was good.
Food was okay, service was okay. Nothing spectacular - the restaurant had a very retro vibe which fought with the Italian menu.
Gathering with friends
I have eaten here many times and will continue to do so. The reason for 4 stars in the food category is, The steak I ordered was a little fatty. It was perfectly cooked and had great flavor, just a little fattier than normal. The service was excellent as always, I look forward to my next visit.
Staff courteous and professional, though slow. Food portions and meal quality not adequate for the price. Overall an okay spot, but expected more for the price.
We loved the food, very tasty and satisfying.
We’re absolutely not impressed with reception: “over there is your table - with finger pointing “ was not appropriate and disappointing.
Serving staff was very friendly but not attentive.
No inquiry if everything was to our liking nor offering of dessert menu - had to ask for it .
Staff needs some more training.
When and If recommending the restaurant to friends would certainly make them aware of all that beforehand.
Food was delicious and cooked well! The service was outstanding. We sat outside and I'd highly recommend doing so!
Al Di La has been a favorite for years. The carpaccio is reliably good, the bruschetta very sharable and tasty. The gnocci is the lightest I have ever had, the tagliatelle with duck confit ethereal. And they really have a wonderful and fairly priced wine list. If the weather is nice do sit outside. In spite of the fact that Savannah Highway is 50 yards away it is still very intimate and enjoyable. One day I may actually save room for dessert!
We truly enjoyed every aspect of our first visit to Al DI LA! We will definitely be returning!
It was a very limited menu. Food was just average.
What a hidden gem we have with Al Di La! We walked past it several times but just now ventured in.
Quiet, intimate and warm it is a breath of fresh air compared to it's neighboring restaurants.
The staff was friendly and our server Daniel was great!
The food was well presented, properly portioned and delicious.
We each ordered a different special of the day and were very happy we did.
The was our first visit but definitely won't be our last.
Very attentive and made both the Birthday girl and graduate feel special.
The restaurant decor looks very tired. It has not been updated for years. it really needs a makeover.
Our waiter Giovanni was very friendly and knowledgeable. He made our evening fun!
Food was fantastic. We sat @ the bar. I cant recall her name, and I do apologize, but she was wonderful. Made great drinks and took very good care of us.
Food was excellent. Staff does a great job.
