Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Egg, and Bacon
Second Course: Three Pasta Dishes
Baked Eggplant Parmesan
Tomato, Basil, Mozzarella, Gratinee
outstanding service. Food does not seem to be as good as before. Margarita pizza is not the best anymore. pasta was ok but not as good as it sometime was for italian food. But service is great.
We are frequent diners at Al Dente and love it. Our favorite waitress is Jenny! We ask for her each time we dine.
This has become our go to spot for a great pizza!
Enjoyed our meal and server!
Excellent food and service. Fun atmosphere and decor. Great for pasta dishes. Loved the zucchini blossoms appetizer!
The drinks and starters arrived in a timely fashion but we waited for 50 minutes for the entrees. The place was not at all busy which makes the delay inexcusable. Manager kept walking around apparently unaware of what was going on. Some of the food was excellent, some just so-so.
Delicious food, great service.
The outdoor dining area is lovely. table distance fine, conversations nearby not overheard. wait staff attentive but not overbearing.
I ordered eggplant parmesan which was served in a bowl rather than on a flat plate. The amount of eggplant was too sparse/ lots of parmesan/tomato sauce, too little actual eggplant. Tasty enough but I will not reorder. I advise serving on a flat plate and adding a small amount of some sort of pasta, to avoid the appearrance of "soup"
Delicious Pizza, pasta dishes and wine. Great outdoor space
We understand that all restaurants are in need of additional servers and so appreciate the delays in service, but one would hope that asking three times over 15 minutes would elicit a response.
Otherwise , fine.
Good Food. Good service. Nice outdoor seating. Prices high but everyone has high prices to make up for all the money they lost to Covid.
Our Happy Hour visit was outstanding! The neighborhood is also very nice
We keep trying happy because the prices are good, but the service is so inattentive. And you always have to ask for the happy hour menu. Don't hold happy hour if you don't want to make it pleasant. Food is good if you stick with salads and pizza.
I would highly recommend this restaurant. The host and waiters were great and they brought out tiramisu for my friend's birthday. I didn't love my dish, but that's just because I ordered something I wouldn't like. Great decor as well as indoor and outdoor seating.
Accommodated us nicely on the patio with friendly efficient service. Both 1st courses were delicious. Main courses were disappointing: bolognese was over seasoned with nutmeg, grilled branzino overcooked and under seasoned. Not what it once was,
We went to Al Dente on a Friday night. Scored a table outside - quite a festive atmosphere. We were too late for Happy Hour - which is great, by the way - so ordered off the main menu. We had the Bolognese which was quite good. We have eaten here many times and it is a go-to place for us.
They were busy but the service was still very good.
Happy hour prices makes it worth it. Good fried calamari, nice pizza selection, good wine/beer deals. Otherwise, the service is so slow and inattentive that the only thing that keeps you there is the happy hour pricing.
What a lovely restaurant; Friendly service, decent food for a good price and great atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
Food was quick and delicious. Great service by friendly waitor Roberto.
Poor food quality and poor service. I ordered meat and they did not ask how I wanted the meat cooked, they did it overcooked. Not recommended.
Al Dente is a neighborhood gem, and the service is superb. At a reunion dinner with friends the other night the fried calamari was a spicy hit, and the duck agnolotti with mushroom sauce was wonderful. Don't miss getting a side of focaccia -- even those who said they didn't want any dug into the basket of warm bread! The inside tables were not full, but it was still difficult to hear sometimes -- lots of hard surfaces -- so if you want more quiet, elect to eat outside or come at an off time.
The best happy hour in town - half price pizza and wine
It was great! Highly recommend this place if you love good food & good service!!
The fire department was there, apparently there was water in the kitchen. It prevented pizza from being made somehow. That was unfortunate, but oh well. We found other things to order. After we got our drinks, the waiter told us the fire department was closing the restaurant and we had to leave. But, the waiter said, we could finish our drinks at the tables outside -- even though it was unusually cold (low
50s) and damp, and no heaters. Not what we were expecting, and didn't really want to do. As we were took our drinks and started out the door, the waiter made sure we paid for them first. Pretty tacky.
Food has gone way down in quality and portions - actually horrible food - only saving grace is pizza !
Nice patio during covid. Creat p ok ace to take family.
Took us a very, very long time to get any service (25 minutes!) , but once we did, the food and drinks were excellent.
Al Dente definitely needs more servers!!
We enjoyed the gnocci and eggplant parmesian. Espresso could have been a lot warmer.
Great lentil soup
Service was terrible. Servers weren't attentive at all. Mother's Day advertisement was misleading and food subpar.
Amazing happy hour place good service and good food ,I love the pizza definitely recommended
Amazing place good service friendly stuff ,good food tasty drinks
Best place for happy hour my new spot
$25 for pitcher of strawberry Mojoto half price pizza
I had lunch at this place Beautiful patio as great service, food was really good , I had zucchini flowers for appetizer was the best I had, branzino very fresh.
Definitely coming back for more
We arrived at 7pm for dinner and at 8:15pm we were still not served! The excuse was that the restaurant was full and that they were taking delivery orders! I guess they gave the delivery orders priority and we were left with no food and a poor excuse. Needless to say we left quite upset with an empty stomach. There was not a manager to put things right ...they seemed overwhelmed!
Food was plain and unseasoned, service was horrible. I don't rate restaurants on Google but my god was this place bad. I made reservations and they acted like I was inconveniencing them by showing up for my reservation. then, we didn't receive service for another 20 minutes (not even water). had to flag down our server about 3 times throughout the night for more water, wine, check, etc. do not sit at the "chefs bar"- the servers won't even acknowledge you there. will not be going back here. not to mention it's full of drunk college students
It was the worst ever. I was embarrassed for where I brought my dear husband!
The only eatable item on the menu was pizza. It should be just take out pizza place, not a restaurant. They can’t seriously consider their place an eating establishment. The service was horrid, the food was bad, the wine is not drinkable. You feel like you are at the train station with loud sounds coming from the open kitchen, the lights are so bright that it hurts your eyes.
I left the note in my reservation for a birthday candle, then I called in and reminded the restaurant about it. Nevertheless, the candle wasn’t brought up and no one remembered of the event.
The only reason I even decided to try the place is because it made it into the Washingtonian magazine. Now I know not to trust that source. I also contacted the magazine and shared my experience with Al Dente.
Recommend steering clear of the caprese salad. Only one small sprig of basil to accompany half a tomato and cheese cut up with balsamic salad dressing on top rather than balsamic reduction. Table next to us chose calamari, which looked like a better choice.
Beet Salad was delicious and duck pasta dish was terrific.
