Amazing happy hour place good service and good food ,I love the pizza definitely recommended
Amazing place good service friendly stuff ,good food tasty drinks
Best place for happy hour my new spot
$25 for pitcher of strawberry Mojoto half price pizza
Food was plain and unseasoned, service was horrible. I don't rate restaurants on Google but my god was this place bad. I made reservations and they acted like I was inconveniencing them by showing up for my reservation. then, we didn't receive service for another 20 minutes (not even water). had to flag down our server about 3 times throughout the night for more water, wine, check, etc. do not sit at the "chefs bar"- the servers won't even acknowledge you there. will not be going back here. not to mention it's full of drunk college students
It was the worst ever. I was embarrassed for where I brought my dear husband!
The only eatable item on the menu was pizza. It should be just take out pizza place, not a restaurant. They can’t seriously consider their place an eating establishment. The service was horrid, the food was bad, the wine is not drinkable. You feel like you are at the train station with loud sounds coming from the open kitchen, the lights are so bright that it hurts your eyes.
I left the note in my reservation for a birthday candle, then I called in and reminded the restaurant about it. Nevertheless, the candle wasn’t brought up and no one remembered of the event.
The only reason I even decided to try the place is because it made it into the Washingtonian magazine. Now I know not to trust that source. I also contacted the magazine and shared my experience with Al Dente.
Recommend steering clear of the caprese salad. Only one small sprig of basil to accompany half a tomato and cheese cut up with balsamic salad dressing on top rather than balsamic reduction. Table next to us chose calamari, which looked like a better choice.
Beet Salad was delicious and duck pasta dish was terrific.
A hidden gem of a happy hour!
Dined outside....it was just what we wanted.
Slow service had to ask for water and tea twice. Appetizer not even enough for one person let alone 2 person.
Eggplant Parm was more like CHEESY parm according to my friend.
not a great experience--only came here because Chef Geoff's was closed for lunch. I will not be back to Al dente.
We had a late reservation, though still more then 30 minutes before closing, and they had shut down their pizza ovens, so no pizza. And then told us the kitchen was closed when we asked for gelato for dessert. They could have told us when they seated us and when they took our drink order that they weren’t serving their full menu. I had to settle for another entree option which was only OK.
Always good food & attentive service. The baked eggplant dish is marvelous.
Everything was too salty
i just love this place amazinng mojito pitcher for $25 half price on the pizzas . my new spot for happy hour i will be here most days ,
This place getting better and better , good food and happy hours specials , definitely coming back for more
It was clearly amateur night in this previously five-star restaurant. Cold entrees were sent back and returned cold. Appetizers were ordered and only after announced as unavailable. The by the glass wine list hadn't been adjusted to show selections that were not available. The busboy tried to clear the table while one of us will obviously still eating.
Chef Roberto Donna should be embarrassed to have name associated with this mess.
Delicious pizza! Lots of diners meant a bit of a wait but the waitstaff was friendly and the atmosphere was great.
Nice patio to seat outside but we ended up indoors because it was too cold. We had the bronzino. Average to poor, dry and not much flavor. The bread was good. The service was very good. I’m not going back.
The Italian cuisine here has never been better. Master chef Roberto Donna is no longer a regular presence but whoever is running the kitchen is doing an amazing job.
Noise level inside us very high. Don’t go for a quiet intimate dibbed, go for the food.
I went for lunch to aldente i had great experience , I had the calamarata pasta and my friend had the mezzo rigatoni both dishes was delicious, service was very good and smooth, definitely I recommend this place also they have big outdoor seating will be good for nice weather, my new favorite place in town
The food was extremely disappointing. The Caesar salad was badly dressed and had stale dried anchovies the duck dish was completely tasteless in a gummy sauce of some kind the Cascio Pepe was a very poor rendition of the dish sticky and More like Macau and cheese with none of the lightness that this dish has when it is well-made. The white pizza was terrific. We didn’t complain at the time as we had taken another couple oas guests and did not wish to embarrass them but this was really a very poor meal
Amazing brunch menu and wherever you can drink in mimosas for $19 for 3 hours, good place for brunch with friends, my new spot for brunch
I went to aldente for Dinner with my family, outside seating was full of people, amazing food and service all staff are friendly , I had the best zucchini flower in the city, great wine selection with good prices , definitely coming back for more
Very nice day for good food.
The cocktail were out of the world for me . The fried calamari was great, the branzino was really good my favorite. THE Service was really amazing thanks to MUSTAFA great service

Beautiful place, great service and delicious meal.
I love the food on this place amazing service and good ambiance, definitely be back for more food and happy hour
Manager was great and the food was AMAZING!!! Can't wait to go back
Friday night. Had reservations. Still long wait. Another couple came after us and was seated before us. No hostess on duty to monitor reservations and seating. Server was pleasant but not attentive. Food comes, asks if everything ok and leaves. I had a request after sampling and would asked her but she was not around. Food was good but not outstanding. Popular spot with lots of customers and takeouts.
We had a great lunch date. Food was delicious and service was very smooth. We’re new in the neighborhood and it was our first visit, we’ll be back!
We had a terrible experience at Al Dente. Our food took 1 hour and 45 minutes to come out, with no explanation from the staff. The service was poor (our server actively avoided meeting eye contact with us when we tried to inquire about where the food was). Manager was there, but his from customers and did not address the issues. The food, when it finally came, was disappointing. Things were unevenly heated (microwaved, perhaps??) and just were not good. Will not return.
GREAT food and FANTASTIC service! We will definitely be coming back soon!
Food was mediocre and the restaurant week menu's value was abysmal . The place was full of screaming college kids and the cacio e pepe I had was not, in fact, cacio e pepe (it was a cream sauce). I expected more :(
In efforts to support local businesses during COVID-19 and Restaurant Week, my Son and I decided to visit Al Dente. Our excitement was slowly diffused once we waited at the door to be seated for nearly ten minutes even though we had reservations. Not to mention, several of the staff saw us standing at the booth without enough care or concern to greet us or let the Host know we were there. Only when I decided to inquire with a staff member about the normal procedures is when the Host/possible Manager decided to give us attention. When I told him we needed some assistance, he asked was we Uber Drivers. REALLY?! What service allows kids to deliver food. As I looked around, I realized we were the only two individuals that were not Caucasian or Hispanic. So then it felt like I was being racially stereotyped. I would have left then but my son and I was too ready to eat and traveled from Woodbridge- we we're not leaving! Pushing pass an extremely disappointing start, we did dine on some pretty decent food. Unfortunately service was still proving not to be so good. Even though my son and I made the best of it we'll never go back! If you're African-American and NOT working for a delivery service BEWARE!
Nice bright space, service was attentive, and the food very good.
Outdoor dining for lunch on election results day was the perfect respite for any Saturday. We usually pick Al Dente for inside dinner dining, but lunch worked out very well. We had salads to start that were really good, but much to big as a first course; we recommend you order them as a solo dish. Our main course was the veggie/cheese omelet for each of us, which we both highly recommend. We declined the potatoes as a nod to our diets, so cannot comment. We had such a lovely time, we will certainly return to the outdoor seating of this neighborhood fave. PS: The bubbly was perfect!
An excellent meal. Outside patio has nice ambiance.
Fun to go for happy hour and remain - heaters work
