Al Dente Restaurant
Every thing was fantastic and we all had a great time and everyone really enjoyed their food. The only issue was that my Linguini Al Vongole wasn't good - the pasta was a little hard and the sauce bland but not bad enough to send back. However it made me sick that night and the next morning. I would recommend it for a night out but say to stick to their featured entrees.
Small location, noisy, excellent food. It's all part of the ambiance and a real hidden gem. Love it! Seafood or lamb were outstanding. Nutella creme brulee is a favorite, maybe have it as an app next time :-).
Our table was ready when we arrived. Waitstaff was great. Although the restaurant was full, our food came in a very timely manner. The food was excellent and came in very large portions. The noise level was high, but it’s what you expect in a full Italian restaurant! Highly recommend!
Great service and a good meal in the North End.
Food was good while the manager who took care of the customers around the entrance was not so polite.
Recommend making a reservation in advance because there was a big line outside the door. The food is delicious though once you do get a table! I had the gnocchi al dente, and it was out of this world. It came very hot with a delicious red sauce with mushroom. The portions are huge (in a good way)! Service was efficient. Definitely want to come back once I'm in Northend again.
Al Dente has a limited menu but it is very good. I recommend spending a little more for one of the homemade pasta options.
Really do like this place. Eggplant Parm is very good! Can't go wrong you will definitely love the food and the service is generally much better than this last experience - it was fine, but just not as good as we typically receive here.
This place was seriously great. We were greeted by our waitress Angela and she was the friendliness lady. Super sweet and helpful with the menu. The food was great! We ordered calamari for an appetizer and my lobster ravioli was amazing after. The place had a cute charm and you could tell everyone who worked there wanted to make sure customers were first priority.
This place exceeding my expectations! Great service and amazing food. The host (I think he’s the owner) has a funny personality and was very friendly. So much flavor in the sauces and fresh seafood. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone inquiring.
Like always the food was spectacular and the portions were huge!
Mike was especially helpful and friendly!
Food was delicious. Service was great too.
The good and the bad. The noise level was excruciating... so much that I couldn't even hear my dinner companion. And the food awful. I ordered the pasta with tomato sauce and pancetta. The pancetta was as hard as a rock. To be honest, I've made better. The portions very large so I suspect most people take half of their dinner home. But I rather have quality over quantity. And the salad boring.
I told the staff that we were celebrating my friend's birthday and they brought out a cake which she really appreciated so I couldn't have asked for more at that level.
We were here with the family on vacation. The place was packed at 8:00 on a Monday night. We got in right away with our reservation. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. True old school Italian restaurant
So delicious! Very generous portions in an old-school vibe. A great find in the North End!
Awesome as always. Having been going here since the late 1990s.
The man who was the host waa very rude! he was moving tables on people who were sitting on them, slammed our menus in the table and when entering the restaurant when he walked us to the table didn’t hold the door for me.
Do not make a reservation online!!! At least 10 people walked up to the restaurant while we were waiting for our table (30 minutes) that had made a reservation online through Open Table and the restaurant did not have any of the reservations!!! The host (a true character!) told us they do not check online!!! Fortunately, we had also called the restaurant to make a reservation over the phone and they had that one. Aside from the reservation fiasco, the food was incredible, massive portions (definitely splittable), and the service is supreme! The pasta puttanesca was amazing, as was the eggplant Parmesan and carbonara. The host even sat with us for awhile and chatted. Absolutely worth the time and effort if you’re in Boston!
The food, the atmosphere, this place is amazing. My husband and I have been going here for years and we are never disappointed!!!! We love Al Dente Restaurant and cant wait to go back.
Only one other table being served. Brought us water and bread. Did not ask if we wanted anything else to drink. Did not ask if we wanted any appitizers. Server was very short with us. Seemed like we were getting rushed out. They were getting ready for the dinner rush. Had to ask for a missing item. No offer for dessert. The food on the other hand was excellent.
Here on our family vacation, and Al Dente did not disappoint! Everything was amazing- the atmosphere, the staff, and the meal.
I love Al Dente. It's the perfect place to bring visitors for an authentic 'Boston experience'
Food was good. They were very accommodating in changing the sauce on the Fra Diavlo. Service was exceptional
Delicious food (large portions) and friendly, personable service.
The veal dishes are so tender. The Veal Valdostona is my favorite!
Veal scallopini layered with prosciutto and mozzarella cheese with artichoke hearts and mushrooms in a marsala wine sauce.
Amazing food! Chicken parm was fantastic, homemade ricotta delish, everything tastes so authentic and fresh! Best place to eat Italian in Boston!
This place is great! The building is quite small, but it has a great ambiance. The food was amazing, and our server, Angela, was AMAZING! She really made the experience.
Food and people were great!!
Server was great but food was awful and place was extremely crowded and so loud it hurt. Shrimp cocktail had shrimp that was still hot obviously they were slammed and didn’t have time to chill them after cooking. Seafood pasta dish was totally over cooked and tasted awful. Chicken cacciatore had a burned sauce taste and chicken was hard like dried up cubes of cardboard. Would not return, I know it was a busy summer night but not a single dish was cooked properly.
It was good
Loved it! Great atmosphere great server great food!
Great North End restaurant! Service was friendly and fast and food was delicious.
The food was outstanding. Angela, our server, was friendly and attentive.
This is the spot. It's not hard to find a good home cooked Italian meal in the North End, but I don't think you'll find a better value than this. Eat like a king, but don't overpay for it. Win/win for all parties.
We all enjoyed our delicious meals. The service was wonderful. Highly recommend you check out Al Dente, on your next visit to the North End.
Great food with HUGE portions... fast service and truly authentic taste. Went two days in a row when on vacay this past week..
Fabulous food. I had the pesto linguini. Husband had eggplant parm. Both were huge portions that we have now gotten 3 meals out of, all delish. We also shared a house salad, something they will gladly accommodate. A fav in the north End!
Veal was burnt sauce had no taste. Place is small didn't feel comfortable
This is our go to restaurant whenever we are in Boston. Reservations are highly recommended since this location is in Boston Historic North End. Our reservation was for 6:30 and we got to the restaurant 5 minutes early and there was no delay in being seated. Waitress came right over and took our beverage order. Nice wine list and plenty of varieties of beer but not a full liquor permit which is definitely not an issue. Menu has a lot of variety covering all the traditional Italian fare. My wife had the seafood pasta and I had the Al Dente Special which was sauteed veal, chicken and shrimp with veggies over your choice of pasta. Food comes out fast, is plentiful, and very tasty.
