SO nice to know that this place is still SUPERB! Hadn't been in a while and have now been twice in the last month. Truly superb food and great value for the $$.
Family-owned and operated with a terrific menu of authentic home-cooked Italian specialties.
My only complaint is that the chairs are not very comfortable. Small, wooden chairs with no padding. Otherwise, great, intimate place with good food and excellent service.
Wonderful dinner with my daughter and son-in-law - the service was exceptional - the wine and entree recommendations by the waiter were great - it was so good that we all ordered the same entree again. Atmosphere was the best. I have been here twice now - the first time was with my fiancé - will definitely return.
We always enjoy Al Crostino and have been there many times. The cooking is always excellent and it is overwhelmingly obvious the owners insist on purchasing only the highest quality ingredients.
The food was spectacular, service was a little slow, but again, the food was spectacular. The owner /chef who took our order was Great. I was frustrated at first when I asked for some grated cheese on my spaghetti with shrimp in a lemon garlic sauce, and she said “NO, you will ruin it” .......she was right. I get this dish quite often, and have always added cheese.....not anymore.
We both really enjoyed our dishes, the drinks, and the service.
appetizer of special thinly sliced beef with arugula was spectacular and the sea bass melted in my mouth. The desserts are always wonderful. Our favorite restaurant in DC
Neighborhood gem, in a nabe (DC's Shaw) that's got more action than most when it comes to options for great food. Owner/chef, check. Small spot, check. Solid delivery on menu promise, double check. Really enjoyed my dinner (squid ink spaghetti, it was WOWZER), and since I'm in DC a lot, Al Crostino's now on my list of gotta-go places when I'm there.
Al Crostino is amazing! Every dish is perfectly prepared and delicious.
We were so lucky to find this fantastic, neighborhood restaurant. There are not many tables but we made reservation and our table was set and ready upon arrival. The service was perfect and the food was delicious! Would definitely recommend!
Absolutely delicious food, great wine choices and excellent service. Small, intimate setting makes conversation easier. Wonderful experience, we will be back!
Restaurant is amazing from the food to the service.
A "Neighborhood Gem". A wonderful Italian restaurant with great people. Owner and Chef are very much the signature of this restaurant. Active, ever present, they make your dining experience much like a cozy neighborhood restaurant in Italy. Fish and or pasta are terrific, the baked eggplant will warm your heart. Enjoy!
The homemade pasta and fish specials my wife and I ordered were fantastic. Service was well-timed and friendly, and the wines were affordable. The experience dining here is consistent as this is the fifth time we have eaten here and we've always left satisfied.
My 25th Birthday! This place is a 100% the best!!! Everyone should go here!
Food excellent, albeit a tad pricey for the neighborhood. Very quiet the mid-week evening we went. Service friendly and informative. Altogether, a very pleasant evening, but we probably won’t rush back.
DC dinner in the neighborhood!
Always great food. It is a pleasure to dine there.
Delightful restaurant. We go frequently. We very much appreciate the warm welcome and personal service we receive.
Feel in love with the restaurant and owner.
It's always a treat to dine at this family-run gem of a restaurant. Unlike the corporate-run places, Al Crostino offers a warm, welcoming experience...like dinner at a friend's house, that is, if your friend is a genius in the kitchen. The atmosphere is cozy and calm; it's the kind of place where you might strike up a conversation with other diners.
The mother and daughter team create delicious, authentic Italian fare, using the freshest ingredients to be had. They happily guide you through the menu they have crafted, helping you find a dish to suit your palate. And be sure to pay attention to the specials...whatever they are, each one is sure to be a winner!
ALWAYS an excellent dining experience!
Quaint and authentic restaurant, where you sort of feel like family
Quaint, inclusive, welcoming hidden gem. I just love this place.
We drove from G’burg, MD for a dinner date and from beginning to end everything was PERFECT. It’s a small, quaint place loaded with personality. The one female server was excellent with her timing & recommendations. The food was authentic and reminded us of our trip to Italy years ago. The food was sooo good we actually ordered another meal “to-go”. We will be back.
Thank you for an excellent experience.
Amazing fresh pasta. Great dishes. Excellent service. Everyone enjoyed!
The food as always was amazing. I took old friends from Puerto Rico there - it was there first time! I had the homemade pasta - ravioli's . My friends had meat - the lamb special and the steak. They said it was definitely their best meal in DC! Al Crostino is definitely a restaurant that should not be missed! Food & Service are simply amazing.
Al Crostino has quickly become one of my favorite go-to restaurants in Shaw. The food and service is both authentic and fantastic. I could eat here every week!
My experience at Al Crostino was just simply lovely! The food was insanely delicious and the service was spectacular. You can really tell that the family that owns this small restaurant puts so much pride in their craft and the service they offer to guests. The space is great to bringing visiting family (which was the reason for my visit) or a date night. We had a lovely night here and will definitely be back – especially for the Rigatoni! :)
Great place for a date night. We enjoy coming back, again and again.
Absolutely my favorite Italian restaurant in DC! This is not my first nor will it be my last time to Al Crostino.
Fantastic find in Shaw. Service was attentive, polite, professional. The chef came out and greeted everybody several times and created absolutely delicious dishes: our table enjoyed tender calamari skewers to start served on mixed greens and a touch of house olive oil vinaigrette, main courses were a handmade pasta in a light and flavorful cream sauce, lamb “lollipops” (chops, phenomenal!), and a veal chop special in a porcini cream sauce. The sauces all complemented the dishes without overwhelming and the meats were cooked perfectly rare/medium rare with outstanding grill flavor. They were out of the wine that we asked for but offered a better bottle at the same price to compensate for inconvenience. Limoncello, ricotta cheesecake, and homemade sorbet to finish. Overall delivered and I highly recommend!
Great birthday celebration!
Great neighborhood spot; really good food and attentive service. Limited number of tables made it feel intimate and homey. Chef came to every table and clearly is very passionate about the dishes. Would definitely go back!
Food was adequate, setting nice. But price was high for what we got.
It was hot in there and the food was mediocre. The server was good though. Overall it wasn’t anything special.
Exceptional food and service! The unlimited mimosas make the brunch even more amazing!
Always predictably an excellent meal ! Service outstanding and personal. Our favorite by far !
