Lydia was amazing! Even though she wasn't our server, she came over to check on us periodically and chat with us. The staff were all so friendly. Highly recommend!
Great food, friendly staff, wonderful middle East dining experience, everything we were hoping for.
A terrific place to enjoy a great meal with friends and family. Bring your appetite. Everything is so delicious that you might find yourself going for seconds. When in doubt what to order...just put yourself in their hands...everything was terrific.
The food was delicious
Wine was ok
Staff seemed friendly
Unfortunately even so we were the first guests and the host mentioned how slow it is they appeared to be in a rush. The Main dish was served while we were still eating the appetizer which crowded the table extremely.
The bill was served when the dessert arrived.
Great place, great food!!
Another wonderful family celebration at Al-Amir! We have eaten here so many times and always find the food, service and bar menu is consistently good! The staff is warm and welcoming but also incredibly efficient. Don’t bother with a menu-just do the Meza sampler, sit back and enjoy. Be sure to try a Lebanese margarita and/or one of their famous Spanish coffees. The Lebanese wine is also good!
Fabulous vibe! From
Walking in the door to our dinner. Service attention food drinks everything!
Outstanding. The family that owns this place are welcoming and engage with their customers. The food is amazing. It is the closest thing to my grandma’s Lebanese dinners I grew up with.
My husband strongly prefers to stick with American comfort food, but we both greatly enjoyed each one of the many dishes we tried at Al-Amir. Everything was delicious! But what we will remember most will be the hospitality of the man who seated us and took our order. He was wonderfully generous and kind about adjusting the meal choices to our liking. I am sure he must have been the owner, and he truly made us feel welcomed.
It was fantastic! Food was delicious and staff unbelievable sweet and dedicated to an excellent service. Ready to comeback soon!!!!
Grated warmly, service fantastic, food amazing
The grape leaves were the best ever! The Falafel and baba ganoush we’re out of this world. The lamb dishes were delicious with more than ample portions! Our waiter was extremely attentive and very friendly!
Al-Amir is a warm space to dine with family and business partners alike, home to fantastically authentic Lebanese food. Pro tip: ask to eat family style. You'll get a taste of all their signature dishes. The service is fantastic and Lydia is uncompromising in the quality of her ingredients -- from fresh eggplant to home made hummus. Sahtain!
Aways consistently fresh, flavorful. and delicious. Great assortment of dishes to select from and the service is impeccable. Very reasonable for the quality of the food served.
A must for anyone desiring to try Lebanese dishes at their best.
Always fabulous, I have been a customer here since it opened decades ago. We love Lydia and Mo.
I accidentally made my reservation for the 12th instead of Valentine's day like I meant to. Moe, the owner, remembered me by name and let us get a table despite my mistake. They were completely packed on Valentine's day and the staff were stretched thin, the service was still amazing. The food was incredible, and the price is reasonable as well. Can't get much better, we will definitely go back.
Al-Amir is my favorite restaurant in Portland, I've been going there for over 20 years! The food is delicious and the service is outstanding!
We had an excellent evening here. I was taken aback when I walked in To loud music but that was a brief period accompanying a dancer. Otherwise the restaurant was quiet (the furnishings help here), the food was excellent and the service was truly outstanding. We’ll be back.
The food, hospitality and experience is excellent 💓
I return to this excellent establishment on every visit to Portland.
Lamb shank and rice was excellent But the rest of the meal was lack luster. Restaurant is in an old building and has an unappetizing smell. They did take charges off the bill for an uneaten entree.
We had a large group (12 people) and this provided a great space for us to enjoy a meal together. They offered family style dining with a full selection of Mediterranean foods. At 8pm there was a round of belly dancing- quite the show!
Mo was FANTASTIC! This was the best service I’v had in Portland, well, ever. Great food, great hospitality, really yummy Lebanese wine. I recommend doing the tasting menu and letting the kitchen/staff have some room for creativity with your meal. Definitely coming back!
This is the third time we have been here and I love the consistency of the food, staff and drinks. We have never had to wait long for food. The staff/owners are super friendly and always willing to tell us what we are eating. We took some family from out of town and they said it was the best meal they had eaten on their trip here to Portland!
As always the food here is fantastic!
The bread is always warm and the Kafka is perfect. We eat here at least once a month and love it.
Al-Amir is the best Lebanese restaurant i have ever experienced! From the moment you walk in the door, you are not treated as a customer - you are extended family. Lydia and her staff create a warm and welcoming environment, and have created some of the most delicious and satisfying Lebanese cuisine you will ever enjoy. 5+ stars all the way around!
We had a delightful experience at Al-Amir!!! The food was outstanding and Mo, the owner, treated us first time guests like family! The service and food were incredible and I can’t believe I haven’t eaten here before! It’s a hidden jem in Portland!!! We’ll definitely be back! The space was tastefully decorated and we were surprised by a belly dancer who was lovely with our multigenerational family and really fun to watch! I highly recommend this restaurant!!!
This is a wonderful place to have in the heart of downtown. Our server Mo ensured we were well taken care of, as did the supporting staff. I had the stewed lamb over rice, it was tender and cooked with all the right spices. My wife enjoyed the shrimp over rice, which was also excellent. Try the rosewater lemonade, it has a unique taste.
My only suggestion to them is to consider offering a rotating draft beer (maybe a local ale) in addition to the bottled beer selection they have.
First time here. We went for Christmas Eve dinner and it was amazing. Everything that was suggested was delicious, service was excellent. Can't wait to return.
Awesome! Family style with near continuous plates of food served by a very warm and service oriented staff, and even some belly dancing between courses! Great food and great experience.
At Al Amir, we have been treated as if we are family, every time we dine there. It is friendly and engaging, with food you would expect on a special occasion/family celebration. The food is fresh, delicious, presented well and food-allergy safe.
Enjoyable in every way. Great appetizers and delicious dinner choices. Service excellent, friendly, attentive. Love the baklava. Will come again.
Great food, great service, such nice people! I would definitely recommend.
Thank you for the excellent meal and service!
We've been to Al-Amir many times over the years and this year we celebrated my husband's birthday there. The staff was so gracious and took great care of us. The dinner recommendations were spot on and everything was delicious.
There is enough room that it's great for large parties as well. Top notch spot.
Always a great experience love this place!
Always great food, great people, and great experiences. Not sure what to order? Ask them to serve family style with Lebanese Margaritas, sit back - and enjoy!
Great service delicious food and lovely atmosphere!
Wonderful warm atmosphere with friendly people. Family owned for at least 26 years! They donate 1000 meals per week to kids in need.
The belly dancing is a bit unusual but doesn’t last too long.
Al Amir is a wonderful experience and treat. The authenticity of the Lebanese dishes are incredible.
The appetizers to the main dishes are absolutely scrumptious. We have been going to this restaurant for the last 5 years and never do we tire of the menu. We have seen Steve Kerr, coach of the Golden State Warriors, of the NBA there on many occasions. He was raised in Lebanon, when his father was President of American University in Lebanon. Obviously Coach Kerr wants to dine on authentic Lebanese food.
