We had the boneless ribeye and it was AMAZING! Sitting at the chef's counter was a treat as everyone behind the counter was friendly, engaging and actually complimented us on our food choices. A great time as usual.
I was disappointed in the entree, hanger steak. It was very chewy. I asked about this ahead of time and was assured it would not be if I ordered it a certain way which I did. There was a wine pairing with the chef's tasting menu but when I asked where was the wine for one of the courses was told the one glass was for both courses. I've never heard of this before. There were only 6 entrees.
The food was excellent as was the service. The only issue we had was that the courses came too quickly. We ordered a drink and they immediately brought our appetizers. Our main meals came before our wine. We will come back again but for a later time slot..
The space is lovely and design modern yet inviting; the light beautiful; The service is excellent. The food was very good, but my guest's poached eggs were cold.
Absolutely love this restaurant! The tasting menu is a great value and allows you to try several different dishes. You can’t go wrong!
Food was really good. I will definitely be visiting again!
Perfect service and beautiful food!
Went for restaurant week and got many items to share among the 3 of us. The food was outstanding and the service was great.
Portion of food way to small for the price!
It was restaurant week. As usual? The food was delicious. BUT there was no way to order ala carte. It was two courses for $20 or bust, no flexibility. For us, that was too much food.
Went for the restaurant week menu. Loved it because they let you choose from the regular menu. Very accommodating to food allergies. Everything was perfect. Definitely will go back.
Our first time eating at A.kitchen. We loved it! We ordered quite a few things, and everything was delicious. Great service and atmosphere. Will definitely be back to be wowed!!
We loved everything and can’t wait to come back!
The restaurant did not serve a lot of dishes from the Restaurant Week menu displayed online, which was really disappointing. Bait and switch. At least the food was pretty good, and the wait staff was very attentive.
Great setting (the counter seats are comfortable while giving you the pleasure of watching the kitchen in action), and the food was wonderful: imaginative and daring in its conceptualization, and well executed at that. One of very few good restaurants to eat in Philly, where the food can surprise you.
Absolutely great food!
Just a terrific dinner and experience. Best gnocchi ever. Best desserts, too. Portions were just the right size. Friendly and attentive staff.
Service was lovely. The lamb sausage
A fabulous experience!! The food is outstanding and the service team goes way beyond expectations. Frank leads a very busy and attentive staff, who are always open to special requests.
Tonight we had amazing mussels among 4 creative and delicious starters, perfectly cooked tri-tip and brook trout.
It may be the best restaurant week value in The Center City District.
Root vegetables nicely done. Fish and beef were very delicious.
Delicious small servings for lunch. VERY SMALL PLACE BUT I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM.
It was pretty nice but the food seemed a little bit salty and then my entree was pretty much tasteless. The environment is nice and pretty comfortable! I would go back to try their sandwiches.
The restaurant is quite small and aside from my husband and step-sister and me, everyone else seemed to be 40 or younger. The noise level was considerable. I think this is a good choice for the younger crowd but not for senior citizens. We decided to try it for a restaurant week meal. The food was very plentiful and quite good.
Wonderful meal and great service even though it was restaurant week!
The chef made special accommodations for our friend with food sensitivities and her meal was excellent. We'll be back often.
A glass of wine is $16.00, the place is very small and noisy, and the food is just ok. I will not be returning.
Brought my Mom from out of town here for lunch before visiting Barnes Foundation! She LOVED and we had a wonderful meal and fabulous wine!!
We came for lunch during restaurant week. The menu was different then online but we each found something we could eat. The gnocchi with kale and green sauce were excellent. They were light and flavorful. I had the burger with homestyle fries. (I asked for medium rare and got it)! I was pleased with the choice, tasty meat and fries were crisp on the outside and tender inside. The salmon with a few strands of veggies was bland and uninspired. Dessert was 6 tiny(Very, very small) cookies. Because of the noise level, we will not return.
food was cold & not even tasty at all ..
service was soooo bad, i only left 10% because i was being generous.
bartender has a Major attitude when i asked for a.mojito on a Saturday night, he said--
" we dont have fresh mint" .
wait.. whaaat ?
oh my .. what a mess..
Ellen Yin would be so disappointed in this place , how its gone from Hero to Zero in just a few months..
tsk tsk .. bad management all the way around .
Sit at the counter for a great show!
The food was amazing and the gnocchi was the best I’ve ever had. The sommelier helped us select amazing wines to go with our choices and the service was perfect. One of the best restaurants in Philadlephia.
I love the creative menu at a. kitchen. I gave the food and service a 4 instead of a 5 only because I had asked that my egg whites not be runny at all, and they also cooked through the egg yolks. I think it was a miscommunication with the waitress, but it detracted from the overall meal. What was absolutely fabulous was the latte. I've been to a. kitchen a few times, but I will never go there again with getting a latte or cappuccino while I'm there - out of this world. Dessert was also delicious.
Let me get the negative out of the way: we had an 8 o'clock rez and weren't seated until 8:40. The bar was delightful as were the cocktails, so no hardship, but we had to leave at 10' so it added a little stress wondering when we'd be seated. Beyond that it was as close to perfection as a meal could be. Delicious salad with dressing. Delicious wine. The Dorado with cauliflower in a tahini-based sauce was perfection and kudos to the waitress who suggested sharing -- it was the perfect amount for 2 people. One of the best meals I've had in Philly, and I've had some fine meals!
What a let down. The only thing our entire party of 4 enjoyed was the freaking burger. Never again
the waiter was especially helpful in pairing wine with particular dishes. excellent food. wine by the glass was rather expensive.
We always love to have dinner here when we're in town. I don't know why this place is not recognized for their outstanding food and service. In the meantime, we will enjoy going there and keep it as our secret spot!
I like it and I will go back. But I do have to say that they are very heavy on sauces and it tends to be heavy and filling. Over all it is good but I prefer very plain dishes. It is very modern in the atmosphere and food as well, for example an omelet has this heavy truffle or mushroom sauce instead of a plain omelet, I do like it though. This restaurant is very up to you preference and you need to take if you like heavy food and if you want to experience their take on “modern cuisine”. Altogether, I do recommend this restaurant to anybody who wants to try new things, and try new food.
The eggs Benedict were fabulous and complimented well with delicious Bloody Marys. A lovely setting, delicious well prepared meals.
We were celebrating so the welcome drink of Prosecco was a lovely touch ! We were excited to try a couple of appetizers and were really impressed by the two we picked as well as the two curtesy of the kitchen, you can’t go wrong they were all delicious though our favorites varied . Main courses did not disappoint and we left wanting to come BACK on our next visit to Philadelphia
Each dining experience I’ve had at a.kitchen has been exceptional. The creatively prepared seasonal ingredients deliver delightful bite after delightful bite. The chef team is very talented and the service team is so pleasant and hospitable. Attention to detail is evident. We love a.kitchen!
