Food was amazing. Service was above my expectations. Ambience Great. Very pleasant and welcoming staff. Price point was expensive but with this level of dining, that is what you would expect. The fried octopus was amazing and was the brother from another mother roll. Actually there was nothing we ordered that was not appreciated by our party of 7. No complaints. Dessert was very unique also. Definitely recommend for a fabulous experience.
Overall the Best Japanese restaurant in Canada no questions asked
We are fairly well traveled and consider ourselves “foodies”. Hearing this was a Michelin chef restaurant, we had to try while in Toronto. Ambience was cool, server terrific but food is always the star of any show. The food was simply amazing. We opted to share the ribeye with a side of wagyu-fried rice and then load up on appetizers and rolls to sample everything. Everything was ecstatic moaning quality. To highlight, he offered the most popular appetizer the tuna pizza. We were like “yeah, everyone place has one of those - we even have a mirimoto place nearby” this was the best we ever head. A super thing tortilla with a layer of onion and a light cream type sauce/cheese covered with super thinly sliced tuna topped with drops of truffle oil. They fly their fish in daily from japan and it makes a difference. Nuff said!
The atmosphere was beautiful. Black with gold touches. Seating was comfortable yet classy. It wasn’t loud at all and pretty busy for a Saturday night. The food was amazing and that’s an understatement. We tried a lot of dishes on the menu and it was all lovely but the Wagyu tacos were my favourite ever. The service was lovely as well. Spent a total of two hours in here. I would go again in a heart beat.
Terrible food, terrible atmosphere. Very overpriced considering the quality
Great food and very cool place to hang out with friends or date.
Amazing. Everything was delicious. We absolutely died when the Alaskan king crab dish came to the table. Easy to eat right from the shell and so tasty. Toro with caviar was exquisite. The freshest sea urchin. And surprisingly delicious was the share-sized seaweed salad which was a combination of salty, tart and a little sweet with the right amount of sesame oil. Yes, the place is pricey but it's very much worth it.
I was extremely pleased with my experience at Akira Back. The service was great and the food was absolutely amazing. I will definitely be back and I have already started to recommend Akira Back to friends and family.
Thank you for making my birthday outstanding and memorable.
Amazing dinner with family 😋😍😋our waiter Josh was outstanding -thank you again
great food service was a little slow. portion sizes are great and the food was amazing. was told to dress up, but people were in t-shirts and shorts. so dress code was not what the advertise.
Amazing experience. Waiter was helpful in selecting dishes
Excellent services, decent environment, very good food choices
Great atmosphere. Amazing food. The Bulgogi Tacos and Chocolate in a Cup were top notch! Will come back!
Came in around 10:30p and wanted to do the tasting menu. Waiter said it was too late but offered to instead replicate the experience by choosing our dishes himself. What followed was one of the best meals I’ve had in Toronto having live downtown for the last 13 years.
Amazing sushi. Expensive but worth it.
Very beautiful restaurant. Trendy and modern. Looks very posh. I like the black and gold details.
Service was impeccable. We arrived 5 minutes early but the host and servers were ready. We were greeted right away and seated. No waiting.
Very dark and cozy. Sets a romantic ambiance.
The food was delicious. The server had great recommendations for drinks. He was always available when we wanted to add another item to our order and our water was always topped up.
We ordered the tuna pizza, crispy rice, bomb croquettes, tuna tacos, hot mess rolls, brother from another mother roll, scallop sushi and sea urchin sushi. The flavours were all unique but came together very nicely. Our favourite was the crispy rice and the pizza. The crust rice has a very nice texture and the flavours rolled into your mouth but was not too overpowering. The sushi was ok. I highly recommend Akira Back as a special occasion or even if you want to just have drinks. It has become one of my favourite restaurants and one that I will return to again and again.
Expensive for the portions...very small portions, but food was terrific and loved the ambiance
Basically every dish we ordered is amazing！！ Great vibe and the restaurant decoration is so pretty! Just cant stop taking photos:)
We tried 6 dishes that were recommended by food bloggers or yelp. 2 out of the six were tasty but the rest of them were below average. In addition, we ordered the miso black cod - we needed to wait for 30 minutes for the dish, also the dish was very salty.
We were here for our anniversary. The food was amazing, and the service was also very good.
Great dinner and ambiance. The table next to me was so loud and their conversation ruined my dinner mood. When I got seated there were other options but for some reason the host thought this was the best option. If I could have got up halfway through dinner and moved to another table I would have as I came to enjoy a nice dinner not hear about someone's dating problems sitting beside me...........
Great food, great service, great location! It was my second time and I will be back.
Its perfect restaurant！
The server took so long to fill up water a couple of times. Always have to wave her down. Not intentive. Poor service makes irrating dining experience.
I brought a couple of clients for dinner at Akira Back and it was such a hit with them. Great ambiance and quiet enough to have real conversations. Would recommend to anyone interested in a more fun business dinner.
Brought my boyfriend here for his birthday, every member of staff was exceptionally welcoming and enthusiastic about the great food. Can't wait to come back for the fantastic food.
Fantastic food & service!
We walked in for my girlfriend’s birthday dinner and were greeted by a lethargic male host. Someone please give him an espresso! Thank goodness the server took over and walked us to the table. They chose a very nice one for our special occasion. We ordered five items at the suggestions of the server. It was far from enough food. This restaurant must be known for patrons leaving hungry. The food quality was amazing but generally I don’t want to have to order twice. Especially when the recommendations are millennial style sushi pizzas. Overall, you can tell the restaurant is trying. But slight changes would definitely improve the experience. I would likely not recommend this restaurant. We certainly won’t be going back.
Always the best
Loved the entire dining experience. Little bit of a bumpy start with our food but our server quickly corrected the error and the rest of our meal came out well timed. We never felt rushed. Will definitely be going back.
Popping rocks sushi roll is a must
Amazing food and service. We had counter seating, as that was all that was available, but it was probably the best seat in the house- we got to see everything being prepared and it was well lit. Our sever was very helpful recommending dishes and keeping our glasses topped up. We had all the signature dishes and enjoyed every bite. Will return for sure!
Food was good overall, some good (black cod) and some okay options (spicy tuna, which I found to be too mushy, and my friend didn’t care for the scallop dish). Portion sizes are quite small for the price (eg black cod). Also, there are not many vegetarian options. Server was very good and knowledgeable.
Our server was amazing ! Along with all of our dishes ! Must try is the tuna pizza, black cod, rock shrimp and wagyu fried rice
The only Japanese restaurant I recommend . Been here multiple times, I appreciate the consistency in the level of service that the servers provide. Servers are personable, professional and not pretentious. Food is amazing ... very fresh sashimi and cooked dishes have really unique and well-balanced flavors. Ambiance and interior design make this the perfect venue for a romantic evening or to impress clients.
Our server was very tentative. The place is very loud and difficult to carry conversations. There were a few dishes that we liked which included the miso black cod, sea urchin croquette and wagyu don. Other dishes weren't amazing but okay. The desserts are something that they need to work on. The cakes were dry and not smooth. The sorbets were very frozen and tasted like sugar. The drinks were really good. The non-alcoholic drinks and cocktails are very interesting.
The good was amazing but the reception was kinda rude.
Great food and outstanding service topped up with nice atmosphere and ambience make Akira Back great place for any occasion. P.S. added Akira Back to one of my favorite date places;)
Always great food an service!!
I have already recommended Akira Back to a number of people. I hosted an important and intimate dinner with colleagues from the US and Europe and chose AB for its ambiance, food and great vibe. It lived up to that and more.
The front of house staff greeted us warmly and professionally and the floor staff were amazing. We entrusted Tess to bring us all of her favorites and she did not disappoint, we had to reorder a few as we were fighting over the 5th piece when we were 4 diners. Engaging and happy to offer details of the dishes without ever being obtrusive when delivering each new surprise.
Taste, variety and presentation were all incredible.
I promise to return and continue to suggest to friends and colleagues.
