   Excellent experience and sadly it's not often you have good ones; they sat me at the bar offered to push in my seat, hung up my purse and then we were off to the races. The bartender, Bryan I believe, made me a cocktail after I told him my normal go tos and it was amazing. I've never had a bartender make me a cocktail when I gave free reign, that I lovedddd and he nailed it. Atmosphere was beautiful and food was both different and great. Will absolutely be back!

   We came back to Akira Back for a date night and our experience was wonderful. Rysha was our server and she did an astounding job making us feel welcomed and serving us. This is a restaurant that we highly recommend to anyone looking for amazing service paired with one of the finest Japanese food in the city.

   Absolutely fantastic, one of the best all around eating experiences I have ever had. Some of the most unique sushi I have ever eaten. Nothing was bad.

   I stayed next door at Bisha and felt like a nice meal after a busy week. Akira Back exceeded all my expectations from the moment I passed through the doors. The ambiance and soft house music set the scene for what turned out to be possibly the best dining experience I can remember. The cherry blossom special was absolutely delicious. The miso cigar dessert made for a wonderful finish. The exceptional service by Jen and pleasant conversation with Chris matched the meal. 10/10 I'd definitely eat here again.

   We came here to celebrate a special occasion and were excited to try the food, especially the black miso cod. Unfortunately, we found two large bones in the dish, which was really disappointing, especially at a fine dining restaurant where you’d expect more attention to detail. When we brought it up to the server, the response felt dismissive. We were told it can happen because it’s fresh fish, but there was no sincere apology, no gesture to make up for the experience, not even a comped dish or drink. Accidents can happen, but it’s about how the situation is handled and this didn’t feel like the level of care or service you’d expect from an upscale restaurant. Choking on a fish bone isn’t something to take lightly, and I think that should have been acknowledged more seriously.

   Just want to start off with saying the service was lovely and we were very comfortable, however I couldn’t help but feel underwhelmed by the food, especially at the price. We ordered the wagyu tacos as a starter, which frankly did not taste like wagyu, just regular beef mince with bulgogi sauce (maybe it was overcooked) - I was expecting it the meat to melt in my mouth which it didn’t, so paired with the crunchy taco it just felt dry. Also quite small but that’s not that surprising. We also ordered the mystery box ($130), and overall we weren’t blown away by any of them. We also weren’t told if there was a specific order to eat them in, I wish we did because some of the sauces / flavours were way more overpowering than others so it felt unbalanced because we (maybe?) ate them in the wrong order. Some sauces also overpowered the main ingredients too. For $130 I would’ve hoped to enjoy it more ;-; The salmon aburi and tempura roll was good, not blown away either but still good. I will say the scallop was delicious and so were the complementary desserts, the service was really amazing, we just felt underwhelmed by our mains / what we were most looking forward to.

    All the food we tried, including their signature tuna/mushroom “pizza” and the bulgogi tacos, was absolutely incredible. We trusted our server to recommend some options, and weren’t dissatisfied with a single thing. Service was also top notch from both our server and all support staff, we will definitely be returning!
