Our server Mackenzie was amazing the food was flavorful and tasty the pearl morisette Chardonnay was liquid gold loved it we will be back.
Some dishes were amazing (like the wagyu fried rice) but others didn’t taste like anything special. We attended as a party of seven and whenever we raised our hands for assistance, some waiters blatantly ignored us even though they didn’t seem like they were in a rush or were just standing around. It took forever to flag down waiters every time we wanted to order or ask questions. In the middle of eating dessert, a waiter handed us a single bill. It took us a while to calculate how much we had to pay and ensure that our calculations were correct. The ambience was nice but the service was subpar. As we went to a high-end restaurant, we did not expect to be treated like how we were treated. We went here to celebrate a birthday but because of the poor service, dinner was not a highlight of our day.
Excellent service. Extremely helpful and professional waiter
Fantastic Food and Service. Let waitress chose plates for us. Heavenly.
Everything was great and perfect !!
We will be back again!!
Great ambiance, decent food. Service could be a lot friendlier and less stifling. I appreciate the constant tending to my glass of water, but perhaps, you could be a little more amicable. A pleasant expression and attitude goes a long way in service - and no, my server was not a woman. You don't need to grin ear-to-ear to come off pleasant, but a smile would be nice. Sheesh.
Went there with my wife to celebrate a special occasion and had an amazing time. The food was really good - sea food was fresh and well prepared. The server was friendly and suggested great things.
Evan our server was incredible, truly amazing going above and beyond. The food was excellent although some of the sauces were overpowering for the delicacy of the seafood and should be on the side. Ambience was perfect.
Terrible experience from our waiter, he made us feel like we did not belong. We dressed up and went out for a birthday. Worst experience for my friends and I would not be coming back and it’s a shame because the food was so delicious. Our waiter had his nose up
I’m the air and we immediately felt it when we started asking questions about the menu, and noticed it a few time through out the night.
Good food, atmosphere and service. The tacos are very tasty.
My first gastronomic experience of 2020. Would highly recommend to try the chefs tasting menu. A great experience.
While the restaurant is beautiful, it was quite noisy, and the food just didn’t live up to our expectations. We ordered the omakase (tasting menu) which was $90 a person. The food was pretty good, but the portions are comically small and ridiculously overpriced. I’m no newbie to “high end dining” prices and portions, but it really just felt like a bit of a joke once we got to the end and realized how much we had paid for so little food. When the food takes up 10% of a giant plate and takes two bites to eat, it better be amazing, which it wasn’t. Maybe this is a good spot if you’re looking to impress someone and don’t mind blowing a ton of money on a meal that you’ll still be hungry after. Overall I wouldn’t go back or recommend it to my friends, as you can easily get more and better food for less somewhere else.
This was my second time dining here and it was disappointing in comparison to the first experience. Maybe it would have been best to stick to the tasting menu again because the food wasn’t up to the same standard I had expected from my first visit. It gave me the feeling that the tasting menu really does put the best of the best out there. I had hoped the rest of the menu would be similar.
Favorite dish of the night was the grilled Alaskan king crab as well as the ceviche.
Akira Back is my new favourite spot in Toronto. Everything was great.
Everything about the evening was perfect!
RIDICULOUSLY BAD SERVICE. Took 20+ minutes to bring water for the full table. Kept staring at different servers so that maybe someone else can help us order drinks/food but no one interested and our server seemed like she had forgotten we were sitting there. No explanation/excitement shown about specials/menu/the restaurant. Asked for dessert menu and were told the kitchen’s closed. Paid $400+ For four people for this experience - definitely not recommending to a friend or anyone. Food was okay, more fusion than pure sushi. Some items were good, others were average or below average.
It’s even better than when it first opened. Def going back regularly so good at all levels. Sexy presentations!
Birthday meal, service was prompt and courteous. Food was excellent prepared. All selections felt confident it was going to taste good, and each dish was well explained
Our family came for an early 5pm seating and were able to take in the beautiful decor and enjoy the quietness before it filled up with patrons. We ordered and all shared a variety of hot and cold shares, mains, rolls and desserts. Each unique dish was presented and described in detail by the server, superbly plated and absolutely delicious. The service was great and I did not feel rushed at all. In total we were there for almost 2 hours. On the pricey side, but well worth it!
For a crowded and busy NYE, the team did a nice job of making our celebration one to remember. The team recovered nicely after we had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation time for a table. The set course meal was an excellent variety of flavours and the salmon sashimi dish with the wasabi sauce was amazing.
Food was amazing. We went for new
The salmon belly melts in your mouth like butter the setting is beautiful and the staff are friendly
Amazing service, very knowledgeable waiter, bar seating was fun
Everything from service to food to the wine recommendations were all fantastic. We will be back for sure!
We had an amazing meal at Akira Back. The cocktails andvsaki were delicious. Loved the cold appetizers, sushi and miso black cod. Would highly recommend this restaurant for a special meal.
Great dining experience
Lovely place. Gorgeous restaurant and beautiful menu.
Amazing food, service and ambience. Perfect for a date.
Great environment. Fantastic food, the waiter was very good at providing recommendations and his service was very good.
Akira Back is a beautiful restaurant with amazing food. All in all it was an experience and the wait staff know their stuff. Evan was one of the best waiters I have ever met. I went in not knowing or wanting to experiment too much with sushi but now I am a big sushi fan.
Greg our server was the BEST! I am coming back!!
Evan was superb as our host for the evening! He sure knows how to make his guests feel like they’re dining at a Michelin star rated restaurant. Food was amazing and will definitely come back when my wife isn’t pregnant so we can try everything else on the menu. Akira Back for the win hands down!
Had a lovely celebratory meal here, excellent service and the food is exceptional
One of the best restaurants in Toronto! The Waygu tacos and crispy rice were to die for, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an upscale, fine dining establishment with amazing food. Great spot for dates as well!
‘Signature’ pizza and cocktail recommendation were not great but every other dish was amazing. Highly recommend the cold fried rice.
Very pricey dishes for flavours that didn’t seem elevated. Amazing presentation but underwhelming taste.
Great food difficult to talk easily; noisy venue when tables full.
Had the tasting menu, it did not disappoint. We will surely return!
Amazing experience from walking in to walking out. Food was great and very balanced. We went with the omakase, which highlighted the feature dishes of Akira Back.
Would recommend to all and can’t wait to go back and go a la carte
