Love it, everything was delicious.
Misleadingly exciting selection of nigiri and sashimi coupled with a pricing that would hopefully guarantee an above-average experience but does not. Lack-luster flavor profile throughout the entire meal.
Don't get me wrong, it's not the worst sushi I've ever had. However, I was much more satisfied with the french dip I got as follow-up when we decided to cut out early after underwhelming appetizers, nigiri moriawase, and self-selected sushi choices.
Seems strange to say, but this place made me miss the sushi I could get at Bob Wasabi in Kansas City.
Ray took care of us the chefs were amazing and very accommodating.
Excellent menu, very high quality fish. The price is a bit steep, but it is top notch.
We had such a great time! We were so impressed by the service and knowledge that each server had
Their king salmon belly was among the freshest and best I have had in sf. Yellowtail was very good. The Uni was sweet and incredibly flavorful. Very expensive though as they charge for one piece what most other places charge for 2.
Super fresh sushi. Black cod was amazing.
Tbe grilled fish (mackerel, hamachi Kama) was excellent. The sushi was very fresh and tasty, though the unagi was a bit over cooked. Loved our server - she was attentive and super friendly!
Good environment!Sashimi is pretty good
Best sushi ever!!!!! I love this place!!!!!
Nice ambiance but this place was too expensive for what you got. The fish was fresh but nothing special. The servers and staff seemed to be bothered you were there. Won’t go back
Best sushi is SF
We had the omakase and it was such a pleasant experience. Every thing we ate was so special and picked out for us. It was a very thoughtful dining experience
We had a reservation for 6:30 pm. When we arrived, the hostess told us that we had 2 hours before we had to leave because the next party would be arriving at that time for the table use. when we got seated, she said "Remember, you have to leave by 8:30 pm") The waiter later told us that the hostess was wrong. The hostess' "greeting/warning" was total baloney and not the way to treat customers. The food was the worst sushi I have ever eaten and way overpriced. One dish was a $28 piece (maybe two ounces) of very ordinary fish. I did not feel that the ambience fit with sushi. The restaurant did not seem clean either.
Very high quality fish with prices to match. Been there 2x both times hostess forced me to sit at specific chair at the sushi bar saying other seats at bar were reserved. Later nobody sat at the "reserved " seats. Portion size of food quite small even for Japanese person. However fish quality is excellent. Wine list is meager yet pricey as well.
Awesome! Sake Salmon roll was unreal!
Outstanding quality. Fish was incredible. Best I have ever had!
Food was great. Issues were with cleanliness. There was a pile of food from the previous guest on the floor when we sat down, they cleaned it up after suggesting we move over. Bathroom was not checked often enough with paper products on the floor and in the sink. Waiter moved my chopsticks for food placement at the food end. Tea was refilled by picking up rim of cup.
The pacing was off as well. We waited about 15 min for server to take our order. First items came out relatively quickly, then waited 20 minutes for next course. The omakase was served quickly 6 pieces at a time after the wait.
Food was the saving grace for the restaurant.
Best meal I’ve had in San Francisco! Best quality sushi.
The best sushi outside Japan!
The meal was delicious!! The absolute freshes fish ever!!
Chefs always send us on a beautiful journey from appetiser to dessert. Hands down the best nigiri in the bay.
Awesome food!!! Funky atmosphere
Nice food. Cosy place
Food was decent but over priced. Tuna needs to be better.
Food was amazing. Loved how they brought out each dish individually. Really allows you to enjoy each thing you order and paces the meal nicely. Wait staff was attentive but not friendly by any means. The bill was EXPENSIVE, and I left hungry. Might have been the most I’ve shelled out on a single meal in my life. Overall, really amazing food but probably not worth the price tag
Simply excellent. I had the omakase lunch and the fish was so fresh and expertly prepared that it blew me away!
Best sushi in the city!
its overpriced, staff is not very careful and it lacks of quality and care. worst sushi experience in that price segment.
Awesome sushi! Fantastic service! A true gem in SFO.
Chef’s choice was awesome.
Best sushi around. Hard place to find as there is no sign on the door but once you find it you won’t forget where it’s at. For sure will come back every time I am in San Francisco.
Overall solid, but the kitchen and sushi chef forgot about items that we had ordered. In addition, enough with the glass lid smoker - I understand that it might be a fun party trick for novices, but it seemed that every other order was being placed under a small glass lid and then infused with smoke. Surely the quality of the ingredients should speak for themselves and not have to be masked with a haze of gas.
Fresh, fresh, fresh! Everything we had was exceptional. Kind and helpful staff. Extensive Sake options.
One of the best sushi’s i have ever had. Only had as good as that in Japan. Great quality. Definitely recommend!
Good food with nice serve.
Our server was incredibly rude. She also forgot to put in our side order of rice and then when we asked about it, she said the restaurant was "out" of rice. A sushi restaurant out of rice!!! And she didn't offer any accommodation or anything in return. The sushi itself was "okay"- but way overpriced, definitely not worth it. We will definitely NOT be going back to Akiko's.
One of the best sushi restaurants; anywhere.
Great tastes and excellent quality.
Really delicious fresh fish! Some items I wanted to try were sold out , so I will be back to try them !
Fresh wasabi!
