Food was great. Issues were with cleanliness. There was a pile of food from the previous guest on the floor when we sat down, they cleaned it up after suggesting we move over. Bathroom was not checked often enough with paper products on the floor and in the sink. Waiter moved my chopsticks for food placement at the food end. Tea was refilled by picking up rim of cup.
The pacing was off as well. We waited about 15 min for server to take our order. First items came out relatively quickly, then waited 20 minutes for next course. The omakase was served quickly 6 pieces at a time after the wait.
Food was the saving grace for the restaurant.
Best meal I’ve had in San Francisco! Best quality sushi.
The best sushi outside Japan!
The meal was delicious!! The absolute freshes fish ever!!
Chefs always send us on a beautiful journey from appetiser to dessert. Hands down the best nigiri in the bay.
Awesome food!!! Funky atmosphere
Nice food. Cosy place
Food was decent but over priced. Tuna needs to be better.
Food was amazing. Loved how they brought out each dish individually. Really allows you to enjoy each thing you order and paces the meal nicely. Wait staff was attentive but not friendly by any means. The bill was EXPENSIVE, and I left hungry. Might have been the most I’ve shelled out on a single meal in my life. Overall, really amazing food but probably not worth the price tag
Simply excellent. I had the omakase lunch and the fish was so fresh and expertly prepared that it blew me away!
Best sushi in the city!
its overpriced, staff is not very careful and it lacks of quality and care. worst sushi experience in that price segment.
Awesome sushi! Fantastic service! A true gem in SFO.
Chef’s choice was awesome.
Best sushi around. Hard place to find as there is no sign on the door but once you find it you won’t forget where it’s at. For sure will come back every time I am in San Francisco.
Overall solid, but the kitchen and sushi chef forgot about items that we had ordered. In addition, enough with the glass lid smoker - I understand that it might be a fun party trick for novices, but it seemed that every other order was being placed under a small glass lid and then infused with smoke. Surely the quality of the ingredients should speak for themselves and not have to be masked with a haze of gas.
Fresh, fresh, fresh! Everything we had was exceptional. Kind and helpful staff. Extensive Sake options.
One of the best sushi’s i have ever had. Only had as good as that in Japan. Great quality. Definitely recommend!
Good food with nice serve.
Our server was incredibly rude. She also forgot to put in our side order of rice and then when we asked about it, she said the restaurant was "out" of rice. A sushi restaurant out of rice!!! And she didn't offer any accommodation or anything in return. The sushi itself was "okay"- but way overpriced, definitely not worth it. We will definitely NOT be going back to Akiko's.
One of the best sushi restaurants; anywhere.
Great tastes and excellent quality.
Really delicious fresh fish! Some items I wanted to try were sold out , so I will be back to try them !
The food was delicious, which is all that matters.
Every year when I come to SFO, Akiko‘s is a MUST. For those who say „I only eat sushi in Japan!“: this is a lesson for you guys that you are missing something! Creative but original sushi dining, top fish quality, excellent seasoning (to make sure you enjoy the right flavor the waiter removed our soy sauce pot —— and he was right!!!) perfect service, perfect ambiance. It’s a rather small place so book your lunch early!
Best sushi I’ve had outside of Japan, and on par with excellent authentic sushi in Japan.
Terribly slow service. We complained but that didn't change the situation. We left after the first course (and 45 minutes later) to another restaurant that had better service.
I had high expectations dining here, the food was good and fresh but nothing was really special that impressed me. Dishes came with small portion but delicate. Maybe I’ll try to go Omakase experience next time here.
Lucky to stumble upon an open reservation for weekday lunch. The waiter was knowledgeable and able to provide good recommendations on sushi and sake. He was also great for providing some insight into where the food actually comes from and what makes it unique, sharing personal stories that relate to the food. The food was everything you can expect and we felt like we got great value for money here with our one of a kind dining experience. Try the black cod - you won’t regret it.
The omakase was such a treat. Every bite was delicious and delicate. I felt like each piece of fish could melt in my mouth. The service was awesome. Our server, Allan, was knowledgeable about every dish he presented which I really appreciated. Can't wait to go back.
Best sushi in town. Creative chef with impeccable fish, attentive service. A special evening every time.
Excellent sushi. Good service. We ordered from the menu. The special sushi menu of the day was a bit pricey.
My favorite sushi in the city, hands down! These guys do such an amazing job. Whenever I’m asked, “which type of uni do you want...” I know I’m at the right place. Arguably the best sushi in SF.
Overpriced. Good fish and service but far too expensive
My absolute favorite sushi in San Francisco! Excellent!
Twice a year I take my granddaughter to Akiko for a sushi expreirence. It’s become quite a tradition for us in the last three years. This week’s visit lived up to the high standards of Akiko’s. Roger treated us to his artistry with a sashimi selection followed by a special roll and two choices of nigiri. the quality and presentation of the sushi at Akiko’s is the best! Can’t wait for your next time there.
If you want to experience some quality sashimi or beef, this is the place. They got variety of drinks as well.
food is ok to good. Price should not at $ but $$
Akiko’s was renovating their kitchen and we were informed the day of that they had moved around the corner to a pop up spot. The ambiance was poor and food was ok. We had the omakase and a bottle of jinmai sake. Around a third of the fish was tough, a third as expected and a third amazing. The Ume was melt in your mouth and the best I’d ever had. $450 for 2 was not worth the experience but it may be due to the temp location. I wish I had gone to the normal location as it was very highly recommended.
Simply the best quality sushi available. The staff is always friendly and provides excellent recommendations and descriptions of menu items!!!! Simply amazing!
