AKASHA restaurant/bar/cafe features New American cuisine offering comfort food with big flavors and sustainable ingredients, for carnivores and herbivores alike. Chef/Caterer Akasha Richmond brings visionary cuisine to her own neighborhood eatery located in the historic Hull Building in downtown Culver City. Keeping the principles of sustainability in mind, the building's original steel, wood, concrete and brick arches were restored while the design materials pair with a seventies modernity to exude an inviting and lively atmosphere. The artisan bakery has both sweet and savory selections, as well as locally roasted direct trade coffee. The 20-seat bar highlights fresh juice cocktails, organic and premium spirits, beer and wine. The entire menu is available for catering or to go.

Everything was great except the noise level, which made my party ask each other to repeat what was said at least twice. It completely ruined the dinner. I expect Akasha to be busy and bustling with voices audible but this was something else entirely. I have had dinner at Akasha at least once a month, but this is the last time.

Literally the best happy hour around. 2:30-7 every day (yes, even weekends!) half off all glasses of wine, draught beers, and house cocktails. They have a really nice wine selection, so you can get a $16-20 glass for a reasonable price on happy hour. It's great!

We were a bit crunched for time and let our server know. He was great. Got our orders in quickly and accurately. We got out of there in time for our next event of the evening.

Everything was delish!
Thank you!

I liked everything about the meal except that the noise level increased as more people came and made it increasingly hard to have a conversation, to the point where we left.

Overall I would say it was "fine." It was a Saturday night, which probably explains the service which was on the slower side when we were there.

We did have to ask for new chairs as the leather seats were worn and warped so much that we were sliding off them from the back.

The food was good, nothing terrible but nothing spectacular.

Very convenient for our post-dinner movie plans.

My sister and I enjoyed a nice dinner in the neighborhood of our hotel. Everything was well-prepared and delicious and the menu was broad to offer variety without trying to be too many things at once. Drinks paired well with the menu and the wine list was concise and interesting. Nice atmosphere even though it was a non-busy holiday Monday. No disappointments!

Love this place - it's been relentlessly setting the gold standard for Culver City for a decade. Evert time I go (which is quite often) I'm surprised again by how lovely the food is. Not overreaching, not underwhelming, just perfect. My wife is vegetarian and I'm not, and that's another reason I love eating here: each of us think this place is made for us.

It wasn’t a bad meal but it felt very over-priced. My cocktail was quite good and the wine was very good too. The food was forgettable, but everything was priced like it was top-tier. I could go on and nit-pick several other things but the main take-away was just that it didn’t feel worth it.

We had Mom Day dinner. Place is very nice. Food was good but was a bit disappointed on delivery. Plates seem to be hot but the food on them wasn’t. Mac/cheese in skillet was hot but most other plates just warm. Surprised also because we hot there at 5 so would think food would be really hot coming out?!?

Not a breaker but won’t be first dinner choice again.

We were having a small business dinner after a day of meetings. First time at this restaurant and loved the vibe and ambience. Live music was a nice touch. For appetizers, we ordered the olives, teff chips and mushroom toast. Devoured all of it and by far our favorite was the yummy mushroom toast. I ate all of my seafood curry and my husband enjoyed his salmon. He ordered it medium rare and we think that the food server did not include that in our order because it did not come as ordered. Delicious nonetheless. For dessert we shared the salty chocolate peanut bar which was perfect, except that there were four of us and it came with three pieces. I think our food server could have brought a fourth one. She seemed like she did not want to be there, was not attentive, and didn’t seem to care about taking care of us. Maybe she was having a bad day or maybe dealing with people is not for her. Would have given our experience a 5 star but for her blasé attitude and lack of engagement.
