I have visited this spot on several different occasions and have always been pleased. Unfortunately this last visit was less than great. Our server was absent most of the time we were dining, my guest was served cold food and when she brought it to his attention he gave no suggestions on how to remedy the problem. We involved a member of the management team and she was very eager to make sure the rest of our visit was pleasant. I will go back again, but I do know who to request as our server next time, Divine!

We have been going here since the restaurant keeps getting better all the time. Service is excellent since some of the staff have been there since opening and it always a pleasure to have some of them greet us personally. Kudos to Akasha and her husband Alex for running a truly superb restaurant in the hear of LA.

I’ve enjoyed every meal I’ve ever had here. Always delicious, staff great, and service is tops. If I could change anything it would be the slippery leather chairs that look good but are not designed for a human spine or butt. Sitting back sends you further into the hole and sitting up can only really be done by perching on the edge=not comfortable. Even with that
gripe It’s a favorite place for me.

Great service, food, presentation, and ambiance. We had the beet salad & seafood curry and were very happy. Went on Saturday night, and it was a little noisy, but otherwise, recommend.

Loved that Akasha is serving drinks with metal straws!! Someone is making earth friendly decisions. I also appreciated their efforts to create interesting cocktails including 2 for designated drivers.

Service was a bit rushed. I wondered whether our waiter had a hot date.

The food was generally very good although I found the mung bean main course to be quite bland.

Good neighborhood spot. My boyfriend and I had a nice Sunday dinner here and enjoyed the space, and friendly service. Food was good, if a tad overpriced for what it is. We closed out the place and never felt rushed at all.

We were a party of four celebrating a birthday. The public parking lot behind the restaurant was a nice surprise and made meeting our friends easy. We were seated on time by Akashi's front desk staff on a busy Saturday night, had a friendly and professional waiter and simply enjoyed ourselves for two hours. We loved that they had a Foxen Chardonnay. The gin and tonic with lime that I ordered was not delicious, but the others ordered Manhattans and were very pleased. The food was very good, prices were not unreasonable and we gave our waiter a 22% tip. Ps. I had been to this restaurant some years ago and didn't like the food, prices, service or noise level, so didn't return, until I saw the review reported a new menu and improved acoustics. Some reviews complained about rude staff, but this was not true for us.

Our friend was visiting from Northern Cal and had been to Akasha once before. He enjoyed the food so much and the ambiance, that we went there again when he came back to Culver City.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Two of us had the King Salmon....it was cooked to perfection and so good. The kale was just ok; a little tough. We sat outside on the side - not the front - and the ambiance there isn't great but there were 5 of us and it was easy to have a conversation, which is very important to me.

Akasha,
I always love your restaurant. Food and drinks were exceptional.
Service suffered a bit as it was so crowded and it is possible server was inexperienced and served us the 2nd course while we were still eating the first. I asked her to take the plates away as we weren’t ready for them. She seemed shocked I had asked that. Then she took away 3 but left the 4th. My date didn’t want to make waves so started to eat his but that meant that we couldn’t share as we had planned. The very nice manager came over and I relayed what happened and he said he would replace my date’s meal as he agreed to do with the others. Then he admitted he had just run out of shrimp curry so did we want something else. It felt like a comedy of errors and did mar our evening. But it was the last day of Dine L.A. and I think everyone was exhausted
We did have a good table so thank you and all the food was great.
All best,
Beverly Levitt

I have been going to AKASHA for several years now. It is a wonderful environment. great food, and really pleasant experience. Anytime someone wants me to meet them for dining when they are staying at LAX or on a layover, I demand we go to Akasha. It is 1/2 between West Hollywood/Westside and LAX...easy, breezy and worth every moment!

I had the fried chicken sliders and we shared onion rings and the Indian street food appetizer. I would recommend this restaurant for a nice/casual dinner with friends.

I have dined at AKASHA many times, mostly for business lunches. The service at the front desk and from servers is always superb. The food is delicious and high quality with enough vegetarian options to please everyone. The wine list is always interesting if somewhat overpriced. The restaurant can be loud at lunchtime but still is comfortable and workable. On my most recent business lunch visit, the Host and Hostess seated us outside which worked out perfectly.

Went to Akasha before going to the Kirk Douglas theater. Very convenient, parking was easy. Food was god, servers were very capable, and service was timely. Probably won't go here often since we live in the San Gabriel Valley, but Akasha was a good choice for this particular evening.

 (Los Angeles)·Dined on January 5, 2018

My summary from a family lunch on a Friday: overpriced and poor value meal, good but not unique menu, sloppy and unconcerned service, industrial noisy atmosphere.

The majority of patrons at Friday lunch hour were Culver City film studio hipsters likely paying with corporate credit cards, unconcerned about lackluster service and bizarre prices ($5.25 Intelligentsia "pour-over" coffee, $4.50 generic quality green tea served in a bag and suspended in a cheap metal Chinese restaurant teapot with a chopstick, $3 upcharge for fries rather instead of cole slaw with sandwiches). The food runner came to deliver the drink setting with a sour face and--after we directed him to the proper person--left the tray on the opposite side of the table and walked away, unconcerned. Later, when we showed surprise that the fried chicken came as a sandwich and not as a platter, the waiter became defensive and rushed to grab a menu as evidence of our error, rather than poor menu formatting.

I may be a bit cynical, but I highly doubt Akasha would survive in a "regular" neighborhood not supported by studio money and customers as uncreative, indifferent, and self-absorbed as the restaurant staff. For normal people, the nearby Grand Casino offers a lovely, authentic, genuine, and affordable day-time dining experience, but with no pretentious pseudo-ethnic vegan menu and outlandish cocktail list. By the way, the coffee there is just as good, much cheaper, and the refills are free.

Akasha was a waste of money. I ordered the salmon which was recommended to me by a friend. It was thin and was about an inch and half of salmon. Thirty dollars ($30) would puchase 6 good portions of salmon at the fish market at Ralphs. I couldn't find the kale or pine nuts in this dish. I did find the squash -- two little slivers under the fish -- but the fish didn't even cover the two tiny portions of squash -- it was peeking out!! I started with the beet and avacado salad. This is great combination, but again -- way too small for $13 -- mostly luttuce and small bites of beets and limited avacado. It's a good thing my refrig was stocked. When I got home I had to have a real dinner. My friend from New York commented her dinner was also BAD. She had the chicken!! There are better places and greater value at other restaurants in Culver City.

Mostly just ok experience. Chicken in red quinoa dish was dry and over cooked, waiter was mostly attentive until he forgot my latte and dropped the check. The couple next to us was so loud that we couldn’t carry a conversation without inadvertently over hearing theirs. We’ll try a new place next time.
