Food is good & clean! Service is ok but never fantastic. Way loud inside!
Service and food was excellent. Just slightly overpriced
I always meant to try Akasha, and what a wonderful find. The food & service were outstanding.
Do get the mushroom toast - out of this world!
Good food. Service was a little shaky at times. Kind of silly that we can't order happy hour items at the table when the bar has such few seats.
The food was good but the personal atmosphere was not welcoming. The waitress was gruff saying it was coming when I asked where my drink was some 15 minutes after it was ordered, and we didn't appreciate her sort of dumping info on us after our order was placed that there would be an extra $5 charge to cook one of the portions of our split salmon dinner to be more well done, especially when the tiny salmon portion amounted to a few bites per person. it was a good dish, though, with a few extra tasty parts to it.
Mid week dinner with friends. Delicious appetizers and shared main courses.
It was the only restaurant open on Thanksgiving that was listed on more than 1 best places for Thanksgiving dinner list. It did not disappoint. The pie buffet was delicious!
Totally overbooked for Thanksgiving. Arrived on time for our reservation, but took 30 minutes to be seated. Once seated the service was excellent.
Overpriced for what we received and on top of it 25% tip automatically added in. So a turkey, stuffing and veggie meal with dessert cost $100/plate. One if the $100 plates featured 2 scallops, stuffing and a veggie...for $100!!! WTF???
Food is good but we felt duped with final cost.
Would NOT recommend this place for Thanksgiving again
The bar was a little crowded as the seats were a little too close together for me to get in and out of my seat. Other than that, it was great!
It was Thanksgiving and the entire staff was rushing. Which didn’t allow me to slow down and enjoy. The staff were fee compared to the customers which had them spread thin. Little things were missed like sugar for tea, salt and pepper for the food and an adequate amount of gravy for the turkey.
I won’t be back.
Went for thanksgiving and food was tasty esp the sides. I wish there was more turkey. The pie bar was good addition but place was crowded and little noisy. It didn’t feel festive our waitress was great.
We went for Thanksgiving. It was our first time at Akasha. Though it was nice it was way overpriced for what you got. A typical thanksgiving dinner. It was a bit bland and tasted the same as it would at home. We weren’t impressed. Unfortunately, based on the food alone it was worth half the price they were charging.
I used to love thanksgiving day at Akasha, but this year they were clearly overbooked, leading to massive delays. I saw a number of patrons walk out due to the slowness. Very unfortunate, and I felt bad for the staff...
My wife and I have gone to Akasha two years in a row for thanksgiving. Both times were great experiences. The food was great and the selection of desserts at the pie bar is delightful. I had the turkey and it was great, while my wife had the vegan delight and could not stop raving about. If we don’t return home for a family thanksgiving, we’ll definitely return to Akasha for another Thanksgiving feast.
Waiter could’ve been a bit friendlier. He wasn’t very attentive. And without even telling us they turned the heaters off to try to freeze us out of the patio area instead of just politely asking us to leave or telling us we could move into the bar area.
Made brunch reservations for a group of women and we had a fantastic time. The service was great and the staff was very friendly. I appreciated that there was space between tables so we didn't feel cramped.
Very attentive server. Food was delicious. We went for dinner before a play at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. Dinner and a play, perfect evening,
Took my women's group out for dinner here last night. Everything worked out great. Comfortable table, not too noisy, excellent service, great choice of food for people with different palettes, delicious food, and yummy desserts. We were there on Wednesday so were able to buy a bottle of wine for 1/2 price, after getting a chance to test a few bottles up front. All in all, it was a great meal and everyone loved it.
Akasha is a gem, festive space, beautifully prepared food, fresh ingredients, and lovely wait staff.
Wonderful food and service..
I'd advice the busboys to slow their roll .. A bit too quick to clear our plates.
Birthday celebration! Salads were fantastic! Delicious desserts!
Everything was fantastic. We have been here a number of times, and are always very happy with the food and service. Highly recommended!
The food was good and the design of the restaurant interesting.
The food was excellent and the service was very good! Definitely worth the drive from Long Beach!
Unhappily, I'm writing to complain (and sounding like a bore) about a place I like.
My wife and I have previously enjoyed dinners at Akasha and, but for the bad acoustics, would probably go more often because it's nearby, a very attractive space, and offers quite good food at reasonable prices. We went early for brunch on Saturday with another couple and had reserved a table in the corner which we knew to be quiet, and would give us the chance to talk privately. It's a huge room and we were the only ones there at 9:45am. Then the percussive music went on. When we asked the waiter if it might be turned off or, at least, turned way down, he said he'd take care of it - and he did. When our food arrived there were only three of our four orders delivered. As the waiter walked away, we assumed the fourth order was to follow - and we were distracted because, with the food, the music was turned back on, louder and more percussive. We were still the only ones in the room. I went to the bar to ask the bartender if he could comply and he said he didn't have the controls. When I asked who did, I was told the manager. I then had to ask where I might find the manager. When I found her and asked about the music, she replied, "well, I have reservations." I pointed out "we are your reservations and currently the only people in the room." She seemed bothered by my response, but not looking at me said she'd turn it down. Eventually, she did, and when I returned to the table and my meal I discovered my wife's meal was still undelivered. I went and found the waiter who said he'd take care of it. Her meal was served later - and, without my asking, he took her order off the bill which I told him I much appreciated. Mistakes happen. People have bad days. But in a good well-run restaurant I think it's unprofessional when the manager and others not only lose track of you, (especially if you're their only customers), but act displeased when you have a reasonable request. I'm just sayin...
Great service. Tasty Greek salad but chairs were very uncomfortable.
I've been frequenting Akasha for many years now. It's great farm to table food, delicious and consistent. The menu changes with seasonal ingredients. The dishes are varied and interesting with enough choices even for the pickiest eater. The atmosphere is perfect, enough of a buzzy vibe without being too much. One can talk and enjoy each others company. Service is always stellar. This is my go to neighborhood restaurant. Akasha and Alan know how to run a restaurant!
I've been going to Akasha for years so I was shocked by the how bad the food was this time. Everything had no flavor. Also, it took almost 20 min to get one scoop of ice cream not to mention they were out of numerous items that we had wanted to order. Terrible experience. So disappointing.
The service this past time was not on par with my past visits although I have normally gone to Akasha for lunch, not dinner. Our waitress was not all that attentive and she purposefully switched the wine she served one of my friends without notifying her ...
AKASHA is a great restaurant. A great assortment of food that will rock every taste palette. I love coming here. Great spot for meetings and connecting with friends/family. All the staff are friendly, service is efficient, and food is always flawless.
sorry but we didn't enjoy the food ! my guest didn't want to complain but if i was by myself I would
we will not come back
you need to work on your dishes !
Love this place, they always have great specials - this time we tried the Eggplant Fries with Kung Pao sauce, they were delicious. Also, their Rice-Flour Onion Rings are sooo crunchy and satisfying.
I got the Veggie Burger with salad as my entree and my boyfriend got the Turkey Burger, both were good but those starters stole the show.
Nice ambiance, attentive staff, very good overall.
Our server let us taste 3 wines. The cauliflower is amazing, would absolutely come back.
Such slow service. Maybe they were short staffed.
The host was a complete disaster. There was literally no one at the front desk for 10min. When he did arrive, he was completely frazzled, had no menus, took forever to work his way through the line of guests waiting. When we did finally make it to him, there was no greeting, no smile, no welcome. Made us feel like we were a burden for him. Almost left that instant.
When he did seat us, he disappeared saying he would try to find us menus. Never returned. At some point a waiter approached us and ask if we had seated ourselves! Another charming introduction.
The hostess was very disconnected emotionally, apathetic.
The waiter was gruff and unaccommodating.
The restaurant seemed dirty and noisy.
I asked the waiter for the Bali Seafood Curry dish, but without scallops. He indicated that it was ok to order the dish without the scallops. I then asked him if they would just give me a few more shrimp in place of the scallops and he said no, they would not. The plates have portioned ingredients.
When I received the dish, it was mostly leafy vegetables, overall a small portion, and the curry was thin but tasted good. The dish was overpriced for the content and the size.
I went there for a special occasion and felt cheated.
This was my third time in this establishment and will be my last.
Great food and service. Perfect brunch spot. Now overly crowded. Definitely will come again :)
We were here for Sunday brunch. The space is nice, the atmosphere was lively, the service was attentive, the food was fine. Our table of six agreed that the only truly outstanding dish was the shakshouka; the chilaquiles were disappointing--bland. We asked for hot sauce and were brought bottled hot sauce.
