Contemporary American
AKASHA restaurant/bar/cafe features New American cuisine offering comfort food with big flavors and sustainable ingredients, for carnivores and herbivores alike. Chef/Caterer Akasha Richmond brings visionary cuisine to her own neighborhood eatery located in the historic Hull Building in downtown Culver City. Keeping the principles of sustainability in mind, the building's original steel, wood, concrete and brick arches were restored while the design materials pair with a seventies modernity to exude an inviting and lively atmosphere. The artisan bakery has both sweet and savory selections, as well as locally roasted direct trade coffee. The 20-seat bar highlights fresh juice cocktails, organic and premium spirits, beer and wine. The entire menu is available for catering or to go.

Akasha is one of our favorite spots. The ambiance is amazing (live Jazz some nights!) and the food is consistently delicious and beautiful. We always have a very knowledgable server who knows the menu and can make recommendations. This trip was especially great, as the restaurant was impeccably clean, our waiter was super fun and knew his stuff, and our food was perfection: from the Smoked Salmon Egg scramble to the Benedict and then the GF Lemon loaf that we took home was perfect for our afternoon snack. Go to Akasha, they are great!

I had been here once for happy hour and loved it so I brought my fiance here for our date night. I have a lot of allergies so going out to eat can be annoying. Our server was kind enough to check on all the ingredients for me and make sure I was safe. The dinner and dessert was delicious. Was it mind-blowing? No. But it was a tasty meal out with a beautiful ambiance. We'll come back again!

Food has become dull. Needs a change up in menu. Server was good. Odd wait at front before anyone showed up to seat us. Venue can be extremely loud when busy,

Not at all what it used to be. Two of us. In and out in 45 min. Not a good experience. Drinks were terrible and the food was really disappointing. If it wasn’t for the romantic building, I wouldn’t have gone back. Now I won’t for sure.

Absolutely amazing, once again. I have eaten at Akasha's many times and never cease to be entertained by the food, as well as the atmosphere. This time I indulged in comfort food, sampling the GF Onion Rings and GF Fried Chicken Sandwich, but I also had to have a bowl of their special Split Pea soup. Thanks to all for a wonderful meal and evening!

I've eaten here twice for lunch and both times it was outstanding. Some interesting menu items keep it fresh. Also terrific service.

The food used to be outstanding....I had the chopped salad and it was below average. The help was not very helpful nor engaged. They rarely checked in on us.

Burger was good but bacon was half raw. My side salad had literally five pieces of lettuce. And my colleagues side salad was half her plate. Consistency could use some serious work.

Every night with exception to this one has been great. My recent experience was an "off" night. Poor service by waiter, food came super late, the person delivering the food to our table felt like he was just dropping it off, the Caesar salad was soggy (too much dressing), and we had to run to catch our movie time.

All other nights than this last one have been great, so this was just an "off" night and we'll give Akasha a pass. ;-)

I have always loved the Ambience- but the new menu is now VERY limited. Seems half were burgers...menu is now poor. Good service. Great atmosphere.

We were seated promptly and service was above par. Food was very good and delivered not long after we ordered. Perfect place for a Sunday brunch get together!

Normally I love Akasha but the turkey burger was so boring. We were the only ones on the patio and were frequently overlooked for service. 1/2 off bottles of wine on Wednesday is great!

Very accommodating staff. I dropped my avocado toast while transfering it to another plate. The waitress replaced it without additional costs. Food was absolutely fabulous.

Great ambiance and service. Heard good things about the food from my clients -- I personally didn't like what I ordered for lunch as it was bland (Red Quinoa Pilaf w/ Lemon Grilled Chicken).

By far the best burgers in LA! Great ambience--a bit noisy but comfortable. It's our neighborhood place to eat. Great wine list, too! The service is always fabulous, too.

I have previously had good experiences at Akasha. However this time when we showed up for our 2 p.m. reservation there was a sign on the door saying closing at 2:30 for the Super Bowl. This was not mentioned on the website nor when I made the reservation that morning. The hostess told us that just the kitchen would be closing but we would be free to hang out. Once seated, we were not served. I had to chase down the waitress twice, once to give our orders, the second time to get sugar and a spoon for my coffee. Then at 3 we were told we had to leave, in direct contradiction of what we were told when we arrived. We would have gone somewhere else to begin with if we had known we were going to be chased out. I was with friends visiting from New York; this was not a good impression to make. Akasha is off my list of places to eat in Culver City!
