Chef/Caterer Akasha Richmond brings visionary cuisine to her own neighborhood eatery located in the historic Hull Building in downtown Culver City. Keeping the principles of sustainability in mind, the building's original steel, wood, concrete and brick arches were restored while the design materials pair with a seventies modernity to exude an inviting and lively atmosphere. We have tickets for the Kirk Douglas theater so we stop at Akasha before the performance. Although the kitchen doesn't officially open until 5:30, they have a great Happy Hour menu so we usually have a glass of wine; order 1 or 2 items off the Happy Hour menu; and put our order in early for some additional items off the regular menu which comes out quickly after 5:30. They have some great small plates which we love to share and a very diverse menu. The food is good, the servers are always nice. We usually eat indoors but they also have an outdoor eating area. And it's within an easy walk to/from the theater. It's become part of our theater experience.

The food is good but the experience was pretty much ruined due to them rushing us out because they close at 10. They should Not let people make a 9:15 reservation if they kick you out at 10! It was so rude and so tragically American.

Convenient, safe and inexpensive adjacent garage parking. Seated earlier than scheduled time. Plenty of food options for kids, adults and vegetarians. Multiple staff service each table to take empty plates away. Enjoyed the onion rings, Mac and Cheese, Indonesian BBQ ribs and Key Lime pie! Appropriate portion sizes for entrees. Plan to return!

Akasha is a great neighborhood dining choice. Food never disappoints. Had a delicious grain bowl with tofu. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. French fries are super crispy and delicious. Will be back soon.

Always love eating at Akasha. Great experience last night, as usual. Our server was warm, attentive and accommodating. The food was excellent (cacio e pepe with turkey meatballs added, salmon and sweet and sour Brussels sprouts with toasted cashews, turkey burger and onion rings). Cannot recommend this welcoming, always popular place enough.

I’ve loved Akasha for years but the lunch we had last week as a birthday lunch was not good. Service was disjointed, many errors and we were kind and just kept asking for the items we needed. Wrong food delivered, no dressing on salads, tiny piece of salmon on my salad (3 ounces), iced teas not filled, no dessert menu just pastries which is great for breakfast but after lunch? We were all disappointed.

Food was delicious while being very clean and healthy. I shared a lot of dishes with my friend and it was super relaxing and fun. Service was great. We sat outside after a long work day and it was easy to unwind and appreciate the care and love that went into creating this restaurant and food. Thank you so much, Akasha!!!! Highly recommend. Also so much variety in the menu: they cover the bases from meat loving to vegan to gluten free or not. You can be naughty or nice depending on your mood and still have a delicious meal!!!!

The server did not come to our table once during our meal. The seafood curry was too much curry soup compared to the rice and seafood. taste was OK but preparation and presentation should be revisited and re-thought.

Kitchen staff should be paid fairly and their pay should be an integral part of the restaurant's budgeting, adding 3% to the bill as an "option" is insulting to diners and to workers, I find it a total turn off - add 3% to your costs and just factor it into the prices on the menu. I've been coming to Akasha since it opened and I'm not about to stop coming but really hope you figure out a better way to cover legitimate expenses than "options" past on to customers - it really is bad form.

We used to love akasha. But last night was pretty disappointing. The cocktails came before we even got a glass of water. It was hot out so this was annoying and I had to ask three times. The fried chicken was just o k. Not special. The corn bread was good. Our waiter seemed distracted.

I was highly looking forward to this eating experience. The drinks were good however the food was underwhelming. The food lacked flavor and needed a dose of spice. The desserts were also not enjoyable. We ordered the blueberry crumble and the blend was not well mixed and granola was soggy. Not worth the price
