AKASHA restaurant/bar/cafe features New American cuisine offering comfort food with big flavors and sustainable ingredients, for carnivores and herbivores alike. Chef/Caterer Akasha Richmond brings visionary cuisine to her own neighborhood eatery located in the historic Hull Building in downtown Culver City. Keeping the principles of sustainability in mind, the building's original steel, wood, concrete and brick arches were restored while the design materials pair with a seventies modernity to exude an inviting and lively atmosphere. The artisan bakery has both sweet and savory selections, as well as locally roasted direct trade coffee. The 20-seat bar highlights fresh juice cocktails, organic and premium spirits, beer and wine. The entire menu is available for catering or to go.

First time there for breakfast. Food was good, but it took 3 tries/requests for them to get my very simple order right. The other order were fine.

It wasn’t a bad meal but it felt very over-priced. My cocktail was quite good and the wine was very good too. The food was forgettable, but everything was priced like it was top-tier. I could go on and nit-pick several other things but the main take-away was just that it didn’t feel worth it.

The mushroom toast is to die. I can't wait to go back. But it was noisy.

It’s really nice to have live music in a bar, but when you make reservations to enjoy dinner with friends, in a nice restaurant, it’s SUPER annoying because you can’t hear! Food excellent

We had Mom Day dinner. Place is very nice. Food was good but was a bit disappointed on delivery. Plates seem to be hot but the food on them wasn’t. Mac/cheese in skillet was hot but most other plates just warm. Surprised also because we hot there at 5 so would think food would be really hot coming out?!?

Not a breaker but won’t be first dinner choice again.

We went to Akasha for Mother's Day Brunch. Great menu and bottles of rose were 1/2 off!
We have a 6 yr old and 18 mo. old. They have a good kid menu and provided crayons and coloring pages for the kids. We will definitely return.

The shakshuka was delicious.. the bread on the side was terrible. Overall it was just ok and a bit on the pricey side.

I had a large group and the service and seating was great. It was pretty loud and hard to hear people at the end of the table. The food was good, a bit pricey for what you get though. Their cocktails though are AMAZING.

We were having a small business dinner after a day of meetings. First time at this restaurant and loved the vibe and ambience. Live music was a nice touch. For appetizers, we ordered the olives, teff chips and mushroom toast. Devoured all of it and by far our favorite was the yummy mushroom toast. I ate all of my seafood curry and my husband enjoyed his salmon. He ordered it medium rare and we think that the food server did not include that in our order because it did not come as ordered. Delicious nonetheless. For dessert we shared the salty chocolate peanut bar which was perfect, except that there were four of us and it came with three pieces. I think our food server could have brought a fourth one. She seemed like she did not want to be there, was not attentive, and didn’t seem to care about taking care of us. Maybe she was having a bad day or maybe dealing with people is not for her. Would have given our experience a 5 star but for her blasé attitude and lack of engagement.

As always, GREAT food. Very short walk to the Kirk Douglas Theatre. A good before performance place for dinner. My husband is a bit hard of hearing, so we try to get patio seating. The road noise is much quieter than the inside bar noise.

Our service was great but the food was pretty mediocre. I haven’t been in for awhile but it seems to have been continually dropping off.

The chicken in my salad was dry and seemed old.
The onion rings were not and the sandwich was
average at best.

All in all I decided I won’t be headed back anytime soon.
Bummer.

The restaurant was a bit expensive for me but the food was pretty good. I'd rather go for drinks here than dine. I wish they had a vegan pasta dish. The olives and pita starters were pretty good. I liked my vege burger too.

was very leery about coming to Seder dinner here, but it was terrific! food especially plentiful and delicious. authentic--chopped liver like my mother made. the charossis was different than what I was used to, but totally wonderful! loved the Red Sea cocktail they'd specially prepared for the occasion. Totally loved the Rabbi--was lucky enough to sit at his table with his family.
