Our dining experience at Aji was truly a pleasure. My husband and I were on our honeymoon trip and were looking for something different for dinner one evening. The menu at Aji is exciting and the ceviche and empanadas are some of the best I’ve ever had. We were so excited about trying the three types of ceviche - texture, flavor, everything was fresh and balanced. The service was also great and I felt so well taken care of and appreciated our server’s recommendations. Next time we are in Taos we will definitely be back! We went on Friday night and the restaurant wasn’t busy which was frankly shocking considering how wonderful the food was!
Nice restaurant serving Peruvian dishes. Service was excellent, wine list very limited. Beer and wine only.
Short staff when we were there so one waitress was overwhelmed
Waited 90 minutes for food
No bread or contact
Once we got food it was great
My wife and I had never been to Aji before. It is a very nice restaurant and the atmosphere was very agreeable. Our wait staff took very good care of us. The food is very reasonable priced. And well worth it! Staff was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and the amount was more than adequate. Deserts were very good. Overall, I would highly recommend Aji. It has a bar and a separate room in between the main dining room and the bar. We will be back!!
Outstanding food, very fresh and unexpectedly original dishes. A fusion of South American dishes cleverly accented with savory Japanese flavors. Loved the empanada appetizer and trout main dish, served whole but cleanly filleted and separated from the skin. The restaurant is a just little outside the central area of Taos and was very quiet. The venue is charming but could use a designer for lighting and accessorizing to give it great ambiance. It appears still undiscovered. I have eaten many places around the world and will definitely go back to Aji when in Taos.
Go to Aji if you have a whole evening and aren’t terribly hungry walking in. It will take a while for every. Single. Step. Of the meal. The food is quite good, creative and fresh. The trout was the best of three entrees at our table, and it was delicious.
Great addition to the Taos restaurant scene! The food was delicious, creatively prepared and surpassed my expectations.
Lovely restaurant.....very attentive service. Food was very good......Only issue was a very large and very noisy party was seated next to us. Since there were other tables in the restaurant that were available- perhaps it would have been better to have kept the large party off to themselves.
The service here was very good, and the food was delicious, especially the sauces. I was able to make a substitution of fried red snapper for the calamari in the Aji pasta dish. It was awesome.
Food was delicious and the setting is nice. The servers were nice but took over 30 minutes for drink order, another 15 to get the food order and another hour to actually get the food. We were starving. After they brought the soup it was at least 40 minutes for the mains and my mom was served a good 10 minutes before everyone else. They need more wait staff for sure. If we had been in a rush this would not have been a good experience.
Went for a birthday dinner. The food was excellent. The service was not good. From the time we arrived we spent about 40 minutes without any drinks or food. Our first round of drinks took that long because the server made the wrong drink.. still doesn’t excuse a 30 minute wait for them. Also the first round of dishes we ordered were placed in wrong by the server and so she came out with two different dishes that we did not order. We had been there an hour before getting any food because of the server’s error. She was friendly but she never apologized for any of it, and the manager didn’t come by or anything of the sort. Once we finally got our food the server spent 10 minutes talking about all of the zodiac signs of her household. I’m not kidding when I say 10 minutes. I didn’t want to be rude and so our food was getting cold while she continued on and on. We had heard great things about this place but man, did we get unlucky with our server. We wanted to love the place but the waitress ruined the experience.
Diverse menu with many options to choose from. We had a pasta, arroz con pollo, soup and salad. Generous servings and delicious food.
This is a lovely little restaurant tucked away as you approach the Taos Plaza area, with very light traffic, in fact, there was NO ONE at the restaurant when we started our meal at 730PM. We really loved the Pisco Sours with Passion Fruit, and the Causa Rolls, which my partner calls Potato Sushi. We both had the duck legs, which were juicy and savory, and were delighted by this place.
Celebrated a good friend who appreciates good food.
Very nice people: the Japanese / Peruvian Chef has come up with a very original selection of personable and tasty dishes; Yessenia, the gracious manager / hostess provides excellent service and kind attention to her customers.
Aji is one of the latest addition to the Taos restaurant scene and still one of its best kept secret. Go try it out before it gets too popular!
