We sat down for Brunch at noon. One person arrived 15 minutes late and we ordered around 1220. There was next to no one else in the restaurant besides a party of 12 they blamed for our food taking a while. The one drink, a bloody Mary took 35 minutes and the food wasn't out for over an hour. The waitress told us our food was on it's way up toward the end of our wait and the food wasn't out for another 15 minutes.
This was not a good experience. A total of 50 minutes for a nice dinner, because the service was so rushed. The food was pretty good, based on our limited experience. I had a burger with salad, my wife had short-rib tacos, both of which were fine. The burger was cooked rare, as ordered. My wife’s cosmo was good, and our wine was exactly what we ordered. So why only two stars? Noise level and service!!! It was so loud that we could barely talk to each other, and the server had trouble understanding us despite standing right next to me. The music was (literally) painfully loud, and the excessively enthusiastic nearby conversations didn’t help. Apparently this is a sports bar, not a restaurant. Clearly the Ainsworth is aimed at 20-somethings, not 60-somethings; I wish we had known beforehand. Pricey for a meal with no appetizers and no desserts, especially for a burger and tacos rather than steak or something. Also, although the server was nice enough, she was clearly rushing us out the door, starting with asking for our order before we even had a chance to study the menu and before she had asked about drinks. All in all, not what we expected for a restaurant attached to a hotel (Hilton Garden Inn).
Service was below average, our server had a big party and it left our table waiting. Every burger was overdone.
Great experience! Very good Mac N Cheese burger. Great service.
Hi There! My name is Madalyn Higgins and I am the Social Media Marketing Manager for The Ainsworth! I wanted to thank you for taking the time to write this review. We value your business and we hope to see you again real soon. Have a great day!
We were over charged for items we did not have which we realized when we went to divide the bill after we had left.
It was okay. Server was inattentive and food was over cooked
Trip to NYC with my daughter. It was a lovely evening with delicious food.
Received a note that we didn’t get “Open Table” points. It’s not clear why.
All in all great night. Thank you.
Worst service! The hostess was a rude and arrogant, acting like she was hot shizt. You’re a hostess at Ainsworth... you’re about as cool as the gum on my shoe. Be a hostess, and put on a smile. The waitress wasn’t any better and our burgers were well done when we ordered medium rare. The chicken sandwich was hard as a rock, and the menu listed on Open table is SUPER old- so that needs to be updated ASAP. The menu options were limited. DONT GO HERE!
Service was terribly slow given that the place was nearly empty at lunchtime. Food for two came out about half an hour after ordered. Not sure why. Although it tasted ok, it was on the cold side.
Perhaps it was an off day?
Great find. Cool vibe. Simple but good menu. Very attentive service.
Hi Alan, Thanks so much for taking the time to give us a review! We value you business and hope to see you again real soon! -The Ainsworth Team
Really great food and drinks! Good ambiance
Was so amazing. food was great and so was service!
Awesome!! Service was excellent and the food was great!!
The service was good and very nice bar. The hamburger was terrible. Ordered medium rare and was served well done. It was like eating a shoe. Terrible
Great happy hour if you are in the area for work! Good choices for appetizers. Booth space is great for space and large parties.
Day before thanksgiving so the place was a little empty which was great for me. Employees were all great and had great attitudes. Tried the Mac and cheese burger and it was outstanding. Would definitely have it again. Menu is a bit limited.
My reservation didn’t come up on their server. Had to get another one by chance that they had an available table. Host was not friendly.
Good food and location with reasonable pricing considering the area.
The food was very good. It is a nice, casual place. There was some type of gathering taking place by the bar in back. The music was so loud, that we could barely hear each other at our table 20 feet away. Took forever to get someone to take our order. When the food finally arrived, it was very good. If you like loud, busy places then you will enjoy it here. Otherwise, check to see if there is any kind of event or happy hour gathering going on ... and ask to be seated near the front of the restaurant where you can have a conversation during your meal.
We had reservations for a Monday night, not typically a busy restaurant night so when we were seated at a high top table, we asked if we could sit in the actual dining room, the hostess said that we had to reserve those tables. Why that was not indicated when I made the reservation on Open Table confuses me, but ok. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgable, however not very attentive, we had to look for her to order another round of drinks. We enjoyed our meal (burgers and tacos per waitress recommendation and they were very good). We were a little disappointed because the dining area tables that were "reserved" remained empty the entire time we were there. Also have to point out that the restrooms, which are part of the Ainsworth Hotel were not well maintained. Three stalls and 2 were out of order (1 had a sign and the other a garbage can placed in front of it) and the one usable stall had no toilet paper so you had to go into one of the out of order stalls to get it and the sight was not pretty.
Did not eat the food (but had to still give it a rating). We did not realize this restaurant was next to (or affiliated with?) the hotel next to it. The lunch menu that is posted on opentable is not the lunch menu for the restaurant. Once we realized there was only one thing I could eat (the veggie burger) we tried to get the waiter's attention but we could not find him. After waiting for a few minutes, we went to the restaurant across the street (Spoon Table & Bar) and had a really good meal!
Servers frequently checked in with surrounding tables than my table. BBQ wings was amazing, burgers can be ranked directly under the wings. The restaurant is similar to a hole in the wall, have to keep eyes out when on the block. Decor and dimmed lights complimented the scenery well
We never saw a waitress. The bar tender was AWESOME and ended up taking amazing care of us.
This was the best place I ever ate in and I’ll probably end up going there again but this time I would want a outdoor place to eat on
Went with my friends to eat and watch the US open finals. Glad it was playing on one of the big screens and resolution was clear.
Main complaint is that Service felt slow and inattentive. As examples: we waited 10 minutes for out waitress to take our order, we waited another 15 minutes to pay for the check, and I ended up taking it to the front. I would expect and appreciate if staff had checked in more frequently.
Regarding food - the Mac n cheese fries were tasty, though and lighter than expected. The fries and burgers were lukewarm by the time we received them. Would’ve like crispier and hotter fries as they also tasted too starchy
Seats and tables were comfortable, which helped us stay for a couple of hours
Mac and cheese burger is the best
Chefs need to communicate better to their servers and the servers need to learn the menu better. Husband ordered Huevos rancheros which comes with salsa according to the description. When he received his food, there was no salsa. When he asked the server, she said it doesn’t come with salsa. He showed her the description that says it does so she went to the kitchen to resolve only to come back and say the chefs are changing the menu and they didn’t communicate it to her and that there is no salsa. Same thing happened for another order placed by our party. The other order was supposed to come with a biscuit but it wasn’t with it when the food arrived. When we inquired about it, she said the order doesn’t come with any kind of bread until we showed her the description. She was able to rectify that one but it seems to me the servers need to know the menu better. The food was ok. I think the truffle fries were really good. Atmosphere is nice except for the rickety bar table we were seated at. It wobbled back and forth so much we had to put a piece of paper under one of the legs to stop it. At least the server was kind enough to remove the Huevos rancheros from the bill.
Pub molto carino, ottimi hamburger in stile americano, consigliate le birre in bottiglia!
Buono per una serata con grandi compagnie....
Servizio al tavolo un po' disoeganizzato, da rivedere
Went for a casual business meeting with one person. The noise level is much louder in the front but we were seated in the back so it was comfortable speaking volume. Burgers were excellent and the prices were right.
Great food, fun environment, and an approachable staff. I would definitely go again!
Overpriced, slow service even though I was only table in restaurant, beer flat, wasn’t offered dessert
Service was extremely slow despite the fact there was nearly no one else in the restaurant. Food was okay at best.
We were there for lunch during World Cup. Very loud even though there were only 5 tables occupied in the back. Service was very slow -- took nearly an hour to get our burgers. I'm guessing they were short-staffed. The waitress offered us a beer on the house because of the wait. Burger and sandwich were good. Decent value. Good location in midtown.
We order appetizers and entrees and they came only like 2 minutes apart. We didn’t even have time to eat our apps before the entree came. We felt rushed even though it was empty. Also, my burger was burnt to a crisp.
This is probably the worst sports bar I have ever been to and one of the worst dining experiences in NYC. Very nice decor and good TVs but that's where it ends. The food is terrible, takes forever to get everything, zero vibe, mostly empty (we were there for the Stanley Cup final). And to think that someone opened three of these in NYC!
Our server was very kind and cheery. Only drawback was the apps. came out with the lunch. We had so much food on the table at once.
Open table showed a different menu compared to what they presented in person. I also cutt my finger open with the knife that was stuck in my Mac and cheese burger.
Amaziingg Mac & Cheese burgerr!! A must if you visit this place! Also the truffle fries were great! Excellent service and staff:)
The noise level was not "energetic", it was painfully loud. When you have to scream to talk to the person next to you, there is a problem.
Really crowded but to be fair it was the first nice day in NYC that we had in a while. It started to rain so the people on the roof came downstairs, however, the restaurant was not prepared. The AC was not on and it was really hot and humid inside. People were getting sweaty and it got loud in there fast. Do not recommend this place for a date night on Thursday. Keep it for a office night or happy hour spot.
