What Insiders Are Saying
We typically love ourselves some Michael White. Though his new hotel restaurant Ai Fiori is a sprawling space with more room than they know what to do with. Set inside The Setai, this is a bit of a cookie cutter hotel restaurant - one that isn't bad, but just isn't quite our style.
If you’re thinking of doing the tasting menu get the wine paring!! It elevates and completes the experience.
Fabulous evening! Service was attentive without being intrusive. The perfect place for our special celebration.
It was like attending a symphony. Prices were high but fair, and we found some reasonable wines.
This is certainly a nice restaurant, but nothing extraordinary. My $19 cocktail was somewhat innovative and tasty, but not really worth the cost. The food was very good, but my lobster tail was so undercooked, it had to be sent back to the kitchen and did not reappear until my companions were just about finished their entrees. To the restaurant's credit, we were not charged for my entree. A fellow at the table next to ours also ordered the lobster and sent his back because he found what he described as an unpopped popcorn kernel in his dish. Maybe it was an off night for the person prepping the lobster? Nice quiet and peaceful ambiance, but not particularly cozy or charming. The service was accommodating, but some of the intervals between visits were too long.
Love this place for a special date night
We had a reservation and yet had to wait over 45 minutes to be seated ( we were offered some Prosecco on them). The wait staff wasn’t particularly bad but it was nonexistent. They didn’t even check on how the food was or give any introduction to the menu. The food was good but nothing special. Overall, I would not go back and disappointed with the experience, especially given Michael Whites’ affiliation.
I was very disappointed by a lot of things.
This place was a way better than before. I just canceled my future lunch reservation. So sad
I think I’ll not go back there anytime soon
I had an outstanding birthday dinner. The staff was warm and attentive. The tasting menu was varied, balanced, and absolutely delicious. Grateful to have had such a special meal on my milestone birthday.
Todo estuvo bien, las porciones de los platos suficientes, en general todo bien, un poco frío el ambiente y no hablo de temperatura si no dé calidez, pero en general calidad, precio, recomendable
It was great to have the last dinner of 2018 in this special Restaurant. I recomend it if you wanna test an excelent food.
Food is average and does not deserve the one star from Michelin. Crudo was not fresh enough and a little stinky. The tagliata is not tender enough, but the potato is tasteful. Only surprise is Tartaletta; the balance of sourness and sweetness is just right, like it very much.
Beautiful atmosphere and AMAZING Eggs Benedict!
A Michelin Star restaurant, which I never been in before.
Food was good, a broad selection of wines (I got a glass of red wine from Torino).
Tho, it is extremely overpriced for what it really is. We got two Pasta courses, and in both the pasta was overcooked. Flavour wise, we were really happy about it.
In general, incliuding tip, we spent around 180$ pp.
Ask for chef specials and suggestions about drinks.
Dress a bit more formal than smart casual, just in case.
Absolutely brilliant breakfast, great service with a special contemporary feel / atmosphere. Quite an oasis to the area that rounded off a special sunrise Empire State Building visit superbly. I would defy anyone not to be on a high after that combination but the restaurant takes some beating in its own right.
My experience at this restaurant was quite not as expected. The food was just average and incompatible with the price of a Michelin star restaurant. My wife’s truffle risotto was switched for pasta and I ate my dinner before her. Not worth a second visit...
We got the four-course meal. Enjoyed all of it. Food well presented, appealing to the eye and great taste. Service was good and wine selection is great.
Always a solid breakfast choice. Great coffee and juice. Plenty of options.
Everything was perfect
Celebrated my 10 year wedding anniversary here and it was amazing. The attention to detail, service and food were just top notch. They made my anniversary memorable. Thank you
WE very much appreciated the friendly staff. The waiter was very personable and helpful. The staff was very attentive/. The food was outstanding, both the halibut and the bass. So were the appetizers. The squid was gone but that may be as well the time of the year.
Excellent food, great wine selection and very good, creative cocktails. Helpful staff. Ambiance is romantic- somewhat overdecorated for my taste. A decent value for the money. I recommend it for all lovers of Italian food.
This restaurant was wonderful. I am allergic to glute and they were very attentive to what I ordered.
Go to this restaurant. I am going back next Christmas an any other special occasions.
We opted for the tasting menu with the sommelier premier wine pairing. We were left disappointed as the tasting menu consisted of fish dishes only with no meat course, this wasn’t pointed out us at the time of ordering. Our understanding having dined at many Michelin Star restaurants is a tasting menu should consist of the restaurants menu highlights unfortunately they did not deliver on this last night. The premium wines although good did not pair well with each course which for a Michelin Star restaurant is extremely poor. The sommelier did not engage with our table as you would expect having chosen the restaurants premier pairing. Overall we were left somewhat disappointed and would not go back.
A good dinner.... interesting well-prepared food and an excellent wine. Great service...thank you Carrie. Definitely an enjoyable place for an anniversary dinner.
Dinner at Ai Fiori with a friend to celebrate the holidays was wonderful, with outstanding service provided to our table by Sam. The transition from each course was impeccable and the presentation of each meal was beautiful. The food was very well prepared which resulted in a memorable dining experience. Everything was seasoned perfectly so compliments to the chef and staff in the kitchen.
The only area of improvement would be the sommelier who served our table. He came over about 2 minutes after we were seated and I was not ready to order our wine yet so asked for a few minutes. More than 10 minutes passed and I never saw him again so asked Sam for assistance. Within seconds, another sommelier named Aaron came over and he was awesome.
Overall, a very nice evening with great food and customer service.
Found this restuarant on YELP. Service was excellent! We enjoyed our meal and drinks at this great location. I'd go back again on my next visit to NYC.
Great food. Pricey. Very nice atmosphere.
Overall a disappointing experience - perhaps because my expectations were too high. Very nice ambiance and decoration. Initial wait service was good but then seemed to lose complete interest in our table resulting in us spending too much time trying to get attention to place orders, ask a question, get wine refilled etc..
Food was nicely plated but in my view not especially tasty - nothing wrong but not meriting their Michelin star. Sommelier’s recommendations for wine by the glass were just so-so. A 2013 Brunello Di Montalcino was served extremely cold which if it were straight from the cellar might be understandable but not for a wine on the by the glass list. When I mentioned it to the server he had no comment. There are much better places to go at a more reasonable price. This is just one more pretentious New York restaurant too absorbed with its self importance. I will not return and will revisit Il Postino instead where I had an excellent meal with exceptionally friendly service earlier in the week.
For my husband’s special birthday I wanted a special restaurant. Ai Fiori more than lived up to that. They have maintained their Michelin star rating and there s good reason for it. Everything from a salad to soup to pasta and entrees were excellent. We chose the four course prix fix. It is great since one can choose anything from the menu with an upcharge on only a few items. I had the duck, my husband had the halibut and my daughter had the steak. Each had flavors that were wonderful. We had help with a wine selection and the Chianti we chose hit the mark! Oh, and desserts were yummy too.
Thank you Ai Fiori, we will return.
Ai Fiori never disappoints. Reservations are a must. Great servers...patient, informative, friendly, helpful. Everything on the menu is delicious.
I would say the staff abandoned us although they were never really there, in spite of a practically empty space. Breakfast food - omelette, poached eggs, biscuits, potatoes - all were super dry and tasted like they were reheated. How this place made the Michelin guide I will never know. If you’re a Michael White fan stick with Marea or Osteria Morini, you’ll be taken care of there.
Eh. Nothing special.
We had the fusilli and the scallops, both really good but the portions are way too small.
We finished the meal still hungry.
Attentive service if you don’t ask for an out of the ordinary request: we asked for crushed chili peppers twice and it took a long time to get it.
The worst restaurant experience ever . We sat down for dinner at 7:15. Service was slow and painful. The table next to ours ordered almost an identical dinner after we did and theirs came and ours did not. At 8:35 our food had not yet arrived. We gave them an ultimatum at that point and said if Dinner wasn’t served by 8:45 we would be leaving. Dinner arrived in a minute and was awful. The spaghetti was like Ramen noodles which we both swear was bought at the local store. They ended up not charging us for the dinner, but... all I can say is I never wish that kind of experience on anyone and would certainly never have expected it at Al Fiori where I have eaten multiple times. It will be a long time before I return.
Stellar, as usual
Professional staff with just the right balance of interaction - leaving us to our business conversation with minimal interruptions
The food was terrific as usual, but service was off. It took a while for someone to acknowledge we were at the table. The server forgot some of our order.
What a lovely restaurant! And, delicious meal! We were in NYC for the first time and had an early dinner here before going to the theater! And, to celebrate my husband's birthday. The service was excellent and professional. They were very attentive without being disruptive. We would go there often if we lived there!
