We typically love ourselves some Michael White. Though his new hotel restaurant Ai Fiori is a sprawling space with more room than they know what to do with. Set inside The Setai, this is a bit of a cookie cutter hotel restaurant - one that isn't bad, but just isn't quite our style.

We partner with The Infatuation to bring you their smart, helpful, trustworthy reviews of restaurants on OpenTable.

Best pasta I ever had - blue crab with a hint of pepper. Perfect portion size for business lunch. Hazelnut cream-filled pastry for dessert was a delightful bookend to an amazing lunch. Beautiful decor. Low-key but upscale ambiance. Professional wait-staff. Highly recommend it!

Disappointing! Was excited to try chef Michael White’s food here but not even close to what he serves at Marea. Service was terribly slow....sat at the table forever without being offered a slice of bread. Waiter who took our order uninformed and had no personality. Will not go back.

Chef Michael White has always impressed by delivering fresh creative Italian cuisine with a Venitian flair and sublime service, which is why Ai Fiori is one of my favorites in New York. People know more about his other restaurants but this one is definitely worth seeking out as it is truly a hidden gem, the food and experience are totally tops, and I highly recommend it and cannot wait to eat there again!

Visiting from Portland, Oregon. Restaurant is in very nice building and has a good vibe inside. Menu simplified things with tasting menu options which were perfectly laid out and portions were large. Highly recommend for a nice dinner out or even a special occasion. Pastas were great, fish dishes were cooked perfectly with creative sides and overall evening was fantastic. Highly recommend, can’t find anything to complain about at all. Enjoy.

Our party of four had the Prix Fixe menu. All of the dishes were delicious with the exception of the halibut (a little dry). I'd still recommend trying multiple courses because most of the food was exceptional. Beautiful restaurant and very good service.

Very disappointed with this restaurant. Expect better from a Michelin starred establishment. Ordered an appetizer portion of tagliatelle with shaved truffles that was cold. When you pay $100 for shaved truffles the least they could do is serve the pasta warm. Overall unimpressive menu. Service, however, was very good. They comped a dessert and glass of wine because we had expressed dissatisfaction.

This was maybe the best experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The service was amazing, the food was creative and delicious, the presentation was beautiful, and the atmosphere was perfect. I was wowed by the staff and by everything they put on my table. (I was dining alone but will certainly return for a date.) My only feedback would be to improve the bread, which I'd prefer warm and softer, but it still tasted great.

The food was delicious and beautifully plated. We had the octopus starter, with crisp pan-fried octopus served over a delicious sauce. For mains, the duck pasta and spaghetti were both wonderful! Complex flavors and al dente pasta, light on the cheese so you can actually taste the pasta. Dessert gelato were rich and flavorful - we tried both the hazelnut & olive oil and the olive oil gelato was surprisingly creamy. Will be back again!

NYC is full of great restaurants, but I must say, this was one of the best meals we have had in awhile. We tried the 4 course option , each course was exceptional. The lobster soup had layers of flavor and the spaghetti with crab was excellent; pasta cooked perfectly with a bit of spice kick. Service was attentive and courteous. We also had a great bottle of wine and don't miss their take on tiramisu!

Came here for lunch and chose the 2-courses for $49. I had the lobster bisque and the blue crab spaghetti; my friend had the lobster bisque as well, paired with shrimp and saffron risotto. The dishes were rich and creamy, and there was a generous amounts of the ingredients in each dish.

The lobster bisque was very fragrant with the black truffle accents.

The blue crab spaghetti was creamier than I anticipated, but the taste was very good. The cream did not overpower the blue crab, which really stood out with each bite.

The tiramisu was beautiful and delicious. The only critique is that the liqueur was not evenly distributed throughout the dessert, so some bites were more alcoholic than others.

Had an enjoyable meal Saturday night, myself with the four course meal and my wife a la carte. The lobster salad and lobster soup for starters each very good, as was the spaghetti with crab, I especially liked the spicy nature of the pasta. The strip loin and cavatelli with duck confit for mains were each good, not particularly memorable. The chocolate dessert was excellent however, save room for that. Service was fine, the room a bit too corporate, all in all, the place is missing the "wow" factor one would expect from a one star Michelin restaurant. If you want a good Michael White meal, try Osteria Morini in Soho, more fun and a great menu, especially pastas, at a reasonable price.

Ai Fiori was our best dining experience of 4 days in NYC. We had reservations for 7pm on a Saturday and were seated promptly. Several other tables were already seated and all others filled up as the evening progressed. There are options for a four or seven course prix fixe, but as two women, we chose to order a la carte because four courses was a little too much. Bread is presented on a tray for your choosing and was fresh. The food was absolutely freshly prepared and served hot, with the server providing an explanation of the dishes as they were presented. An amouse bouche was a nice surprise and set the tone for the rich flavors to follow. The food was sumptuous and full of wonderful flavor, from app to dessert. There was a good selection of wines by the glass, but I'd have loved to have a sommelier offer some assistance since I was looking for a certain varietal that I couldn't find a similar match to. (In fairness, I should have requested one.) One specific note is that they had a Tokaji as a dessert wine option, which is rare to find. Our server Mike took fantastic care of us and made my mother feel quite special, even though this was just a nice dinner on vacation. The noise level is moderate enough to have a private conversation but thankfully not like the current trend of horrible, noisy spaces where you have to shout to be heard at a two top. It would be wonderful for a date or a business dinner. Overall, Ai Fiori was a treat and I'd absolutely return again and again.

Excellent modern Italian cuisine in a modern and pleasant decor. The service is attentive and the wine selection is very good - though a bit more choices for the wines by the glass would be greatly appreciated (I do realize that for restaurants the focus is on the wines by the bottle). Prices are in the upper range but the quality of the food is outstanding.
