What Insiders Are Saying
We typically love ourselves some Michael White. Though his new hotel restaurant Ai Fiori is a sprawling space with more room than they know what to do with. Set inside The Setai, this is a bit of a cookie cutter hotel restaurant - one that isn't bad, but just isn't quite our style.
For my husband’s special birthday I wanted a special restaurant. Ai Fiori more than lived up to that. They have maintained their Michelin star rating and there s good reason for it. Everything from a salad to soup to pasta and entrees were excellent. We chose the four course prix fix. It is great since one can choose anything from the menu with an upcharge on only a few items. I had the duck, my husband had the halibut and my daughter had the steak. Each had flavors that were wonderful. We had help with a wine selection and the Chianti we chose hit the mark! Oh, and desserts were yummy too.
Thank you Ai Fiori, we will return.
Ai Fiori never disappoints. Reservations are a must. Great servers...patient, informative, friendly, helpful. Everything on the menu is delicious.
I would say the staff abandoned us although they were never really there, in spite of a practically empty space. Breakfast food - omelette, poached eggs, biscuits, potatoes - all were super dry and tasted like they were reheated. How this place made the Michelin guide I will never know. If you’re a Michael White fan stick with Marea or Osteria Morini, you’ll be taken care of there.
Eh. Nothing special.
We had the fusilli and the scallops, both really good but the portions are way too small.
We finished the meal still hungry.
Attentive service if you don’t ask for an out of the ordinary request: we asked for crushed chili peppers twice and it took a long time to get it.
The worst restaurant experience ever . We sat down for dinner at 7:15. Service was slow and painful. The table next to ours ordered almost an identical dinner after we did and theirs came and ours did not. At 8:35 our food had not yet arrived. We gave them an ultimatum at that point and said if Dinner wasn’t served by 8:45 we would be leaving. Dinner arrived in a minute and was awful. The spaghetti was like Ramen noodles which we both swear was bought at the local store. They ended up not charging us for the dinner, but... all I can say is I never wish that kind of experience on anyone and would certainly never have expected it at Al Fiori where I have eaten multiple times. It will be a long time before I return.
Stellar, as usual
Professional staff with just the right balance of interaction - leaving us to our business conversation with minimal interruptions
The food was terrific as usual, but service was off. It took a while for someone to acknowledge we were at the table. The server forgot some of our order.
What a lovely restaurant! And, delicious meal! We were in NYC for the first time and had an early dinner here before going to the theater! And, to celebrate my husband's birthday. The service was excellent and professional. They were very attentive without being disruptive. We would go there often if we lived there!
We ordered their 7 course tasting menu. When we got to desert we realized they hadn’t served the 2nd meat course. We brought it to the attention of the waiter who went to check. While we were waiting, a desert wine was poured for us which we hadn’t ordered. A bit later the waiter cane back and said they were comping us the desert wine for the missing course. That was it? No course, no comps, just some desert wine we didn’t ask for. For a $1,000 meal and a Michelin rated restaurant, I expect much better than that. Pathetic in my estimation.
The food was outstanding BUT the overall experience was not worth the very pricey prix fix cost.
We had an 8 pm reservation and were not seated until 8:50 and then seated at a terribly located table. The front desk was unconcerned and unapologetic for the late seating.
Once seated table service was good but completely lacking in charm and effort, everyone barely going through the motions. We got the feeling that management no longer really cared about the experience of their customers. One bright spot was the sommelier leading us to an outstanding bottle of wine.
While the ambiance was lovely the emotionless delivery and lack of care while serving such outstanding food made for a disappointing evening. The Lobster soup and the poached Lobster in butter were exquisite, each pasta dish was creative and outstanding. And sadly as wonderful as the food itself was I would not suggest Ai Fiori to anyone.
They prepared a small gift box for our first anniversary. It was unforgettable experience with amazing food.
Service is phenomenal. We had an early light supper as we were catching a tour. In no way did we feel pressured to order more food. What we had was delicious and made us want to come back for more when we would be more hungry for a full dinner
The waiter brought incorrect items we had not ordered to our table at least three times during the meal-- instead of what we had ordered, so then we had to wait longer for our actual orders. Then, perhaps in an attempt to compensate for their errors, they treated us to 1 free glass of dessert wine each, which was far too sweet to drink (nothing I would have ordered on my own) and a dessert which I also found unpalatable. But that was it- they did not comp us any of the items they had made errors on; only 2 additional things we did not like and did not partake in.
Ai Fiori occupies an attractive space in 1% Manhattan style, with service to match. The food ranges from very good to considerably better than that, the wines maintain an even higher standard. All told, very pleasing, of not in every way memorable.
Loved the Ghankgiving Pre fix menu. Great options delish and worth the $
We gambled on thanksgiving dinner there as we thought it might be a deconstructed version of a traditional dinner. We were wrong. This was a most memorable dinner. Perfect Risotto that was unbelievably flavorful. A perfect turkey plate...moist but with crispy skin. The dark meat was put in what I’ll describe as a hot terrine. It was glorious. The veggies were perfect as well.
We would do thanksgiving dinner there again in a hot minute.
Impeccable service. Staff made sure everyone at the table was served at the same time so food temperature was perfect. Everything was delicious.
Great service. Very friendly staff.
Was an excellent evening. We had the 7 course tasting menu and loved it!
Impeccable service and food a perfect execution!
Portion is on the small size.
Food was average to mediocre at best. Our pasta dish was tepid upon arrival. The flavors on the lamb chops weren't much to stand out. The dinner rolls, bread was cold and dry.
Cocktails were nice but nothing spectacular as one might expect given its reputation.
Al Fiori was another delightful experience, the place recently maintained its Michelin star status and rightfully so! Place was busy early on so our server lost sight of us several times but he redeemed himself later on. We had a 4 course meal while small in portion, the quality kept me full. I usually enjoy their sunday brunches so this was my first dinner there, worth the visit!
The service was a little lacking at the beginning and end of the meal. It took a long time to first get a waiter or a drink. It took forever after desert to get the check, However, during the middle part of the meal the service was excellent.
Went for our wedding Anniversary.
Service seemed disorganized and timing was off. Was planning on splurging on a wine but our appetizer came out prior to the glasses of champagne we ordered so it took away from the experience and made us feel rushed.
Food was great but due to service inconsistencies ended up going with a far cheaper bottle about third of the price. Restaurant lost on a large check and server missed out on a bigger tip because of it.
Well prepared food that falls short of excellence, perhaps for lack of essential ingredients that would be available in true Italian cuisine. Value not there mainly because the experience is not truly Italian, merely Italian-influenced.
Not good experience.
All around a true 3 star Michelin restaurant. Impeccable service and incredible food. We could not be happier.ent for Birthday celebration on Nov. 8th and going back on Dec. 16th to celebrate the Holidays on a short "staycation" in NYC since we are New Yorkers ourselves. :-)
gracious service and delicious food. I very nice upscale Italian restaurant .
We were there for my girlfriend’s birthday. The service and the food was outstanding. We plan on coming back in the near future.
Daughters birthday was so very special and delicious!!!!
This was our special Anniversary dinner for our NYC trip. The place is very elegant and has a nice view of the city. Our waiter was very friendly and unpretentious. We had the champagne and caviar to start... it was delicious! Wine list was one of the largest we have ever seen. Very expensive but worth it for our special occasion!
One of our favorite restaurants in New York City that consistently delivers exceptional food. On our most recent visit the sommelier specifically matched wines for what each of us ordered and his pairings were masterful. My wife and I can’t wait to go back!
We were constantly being asked by the manager whether “everything continues to be perfect?”
We had not discussed whether everything was perfect in the first place so I thought that this and other similar “standard” questioning gave an unprofessional ambiance which lowered the tone of the restaurant.
The food was ok. Not amazing.
The bar did not have the wine I ordered that was on the fine wine menu.
Won’t be returning.
Arrived a few minutes before 5:30pm, but they couldn't seat us yet. Bar was full, so we had to 'stand' at their front desk till they seated us (about 10 minutes). They could have seated us for cocktails rather than having us just stand there! Finally seated, and reading the menu, we noticed that they didn't have the Gnocci w/brown butter+sage that was advertised on their website...asked the waitress and were told that they change items on the menu often. Asked her if we could get the Gnocci w/brown butter+sage anyway, but were told 'no'. Too bad. What we ordered instead was good but not really what we had intended or wanted. So, all in all, not the best experience for us.
Half the restaurant was empty. With current price for lunch for two with 2 course and 1 glass of wine exceeded $171.00. Does not make much sense anymore to eat there. Unless they change their prices, I predict it will close soon.
