Agua 301 Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful birthday brunch with a large group. Our waiter never let us find the bottom of our bottomless mimosas and made sure everyone had everything they needed. Food was delicious and generous in portions. The birthday churros and serenade were a lovely touch! It was truly a wonderful brunch experience and I cannot wait to go back!
I have always been a fan of Agua 301 but my experience this week was a little less than what I have come to expect. While the service was great, there was a lot of excessive noise being made by staff who were changing over what must have been a private event. They also were leaving doors to the outside open during the changeover which made the room much more uncomfortable that it would have been otherwise. I still very much like this restaurant but it was not my best experience here.
This place is just ok. I came here for brunch with my friends and mostly everyone was disappointed with their meal. The guac is good and so were the rice an beans--that's really where my positive feedback ends. The drinks were too sweet, the tacos were bland, and the salsa had no flavor. It was nice to sit by the window and see the water so I'll give them a few points for that.
The ambiance was good. The food was not so great. I had spicy chicken tacos with no spice. I ate one taco and told my review to the waiter. He ignored it and still charged me. My friend had the salmon taco. She said that the salmon smelled and tasted very fishy. She didn’t eat it and was not charged. I also made reservations for a “ birthday “ occasion, our server never acknowledged the birthday. Overall cool vibe, but the food lacked seasoning/spices
First it took me 4 orders to get a drink. They brought me the wrong thing, then didn't know what beer I was talking about (when it was on the menu), ran out of my second choice, until finally I found something I could order. Then the chips and salsa were totally stale. The chips were chewy and the salsa was watery. The entrees were decent at best. I had carnitas tacos and found them to be very dry
I found the indoor part of the restaurant had an unpleasant odor that may come from their floor cleaning liquids. Food portion is too large for me. The rice and the beans as part of the carnitas taco combo were cold and not tasty. Guacamole was very yummy! Waiter was attentive and friendly.
This restaurant has a great location and lots of potential. However, to survive the Aqua 301 needs to step up the quality of the food. Salsa and chips were mediocre and tasted store bought. The regular margarita was watery. Unfortunately, the entrees weren't much better. It's not that hard to do good Mexican and this is a great location for a restaurant like this, but it won't make it with the current food. I hope it improves.
I've always been a fan of Agua 301. Food is good, drinks are better. My boyfriend and I came here about an hour and a half before a baseball game and we were told that unless we had a reservation we would not be seated. More than half of the restaurant's tables were empty when he told us this. So, I got on my OpenTable App and made a reservation for 2 people for 4pm. Then I told the manager I had a reservation and he proceeded to question how soon I had actually made the reservation . After about a 5 minute delay, discussion with another staff member about how I was able to do this, and apparent attitude, we were seated.
Anyway, the food was great. We had empanadas, tacos, and guacamole. Our server was really nice.
Throughout our 40 minute pre-game dinner, more people cleared out than were seated, and others were turned away for "not having a reservation." What a crappy business model for an otherwise decent place to eat before a ball game.
Food and drinks were good. Our server was friendly and refilled drinks and chips and salsa quickly. Great location to eat before a Nationals game since it is close to the stadium. We had a reservation for 3pm and they didn't want to seat us 10 minutes early because the menu was changing from brunch to lunch. Then they gave us both menus which were not clearly labeled as brunch or lunch. My son ordered a sandwich which apparently was off the brunch menu that had ended. They didn't tell us this until the other 3 entrees were ready to come out. Would have been nice to know when he ordered it that it wasn't available. They did rush his replacement entee which we appreciated even though it was delivered after the other 3.
Came in for a friends birthday. I like the casual atmosphere and the menu has something for everyone. The server arrived at the table pretty fast and was very pleasant. The four of us started with Happy Hour drinks which took more time than it should have but I assume thats because it was semi-busy. Besides that, the chips and salsa came out fast as well. It was only after that, that the service slowed down. I saw out server taking tables outside plus he had inside tables. As a server myself, I'm disappointed the management couldn't have been on the floor helping their staff. It took far to long for the server to take out food order, deliver our second round of drinks, and bring the desert. This was not because he wasn't busy so I don't blame him. I do question were the management was however. Overall it was a good experience and I would definitely come again.
Solid Mexican restaurant. We went before a Nationals' game, so the location was great - just a few blocks away from the ballpark. Beers were moderately priced, and they had margaritas available by the pitcher for a decent value. The food was very tasty, but a little expensive for what it is. They start you off with complimentary chips and salsa. The chips are fresh, crisp, and lightly salted, which I enjoy. The salsa is flavorful and very spicy, a good start to the meal. We ordered the traditional guacamole and quest fundido, both very good but a little pricey (I think the guac was like $10 for a medium-sized bowl). I had the Bistec Tacos - 2 small steak tacos w/ fixings - $7. Like I said, the food was very good, but just a little pricier than I had hoped for the portion size.
The service was very good, our server was polite, attentive, and always made sure we were asked if we wanted another round whenever the drinks were low.
The restaurant was definitely on the louder side - I'm not sure if this is always how it is, or just because there were a bunch of people like us who were grabbing a bite before the baseball game.
All in all, a good place with solid food. I'd definitely go again before heading down to Nats' Park for a game.
Took an hour to get our food even though the restaurant didn't appear to be "packed." Service was incredibly slow... for OUR table. Parties in other sections were seated after us and finished their meals before we even got a bowl of chips for the guacamole.
The restaurant was very accommodating to our large party and they was able to do separate billing. Some of the frozen drinks wasn't available which was disappointing. I had the pork tacos and they were just ok. The chips and salsa was decent and the frozen lime margaritas was tasty. I would go back again just try some of the other drinks on the happy hour menu hopefully next time everything will be available to sample.
We had a very good meal here last week. Nice spot on the river that was buzzing with 20-30 somethings. They have a nice interpretation on Mexican food that should satisfy most levels of foodie. Service was pleasant, but seemed very busy, as we did not see much of them.
