The restaurant's ambiance was lovely. Our server was polite, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and will return.
Table was fine- service was prompt but simply transactional. It could be described as if it was delivered by a robot just to get it done ( specials etc)
Chicken Picatta was bland - thank goodness for the capers.
Sushi was just the opposite - so much mayo/aioli/sauce etc squirted on top I could not taste the sushi at all just the sauces.
Was excited to see a man approach the piano to play some dinner music. The keys were pounded so hard and loud we couldn’t wait for it to end. After 2 songs it did end and the young lady who started playing jazz was very good and had better touch that was very much leasing. She was the highlight of the night.
We did get dessert - the coconut cream pie- I am quite sure it was from GFS!
Owner Joe Gallo & Partners have created a truly unique Restaurant—featuring Old World Italian entrees Plus, Masterfully created Sushi selections. I always say, 'If I were blindfolded and brought into Agostino's Sushi Rock—the Audio Ambiance would immediately bring to mind a New York, Upper West Side Bar & Restaurant... Blindfold Off, The Same!'
Every Food Item is exceptional. Case in point, the Calamari is Fresh, and unlike any I have ever tasted. The Chef does not cut them into "Rings"... the pieces are separated into Filet-Strips, and the 'curly bits' then seasoned and dusted perfectly! The Linguini with White Clam Sauce is stupendous. The Lobster Roll Sushi, and Spicy Tuna Roll... World Class!
The Full-Service Bar yields Classic Cocktails... The Wine Selection has everything your Palate Desires!
The Waitstaff is affable and efficient. Jenny took excellent, good-humored care, during our Thursday visit—with Rachel, Tom, and Billy, elsewhere on the Floor.
Notably, there is a Grand Piano in the corner... Always put to optimal good use—at the Gifted Hands of "Joe Gallo" (Occasionally, as the Mood strikes!), or regularly scheduled Talent.
Save the New York Airfare... and any question of "Where should we Dine?" ...Agostino's Sushi Rock, on Madison in Lakewood is THE SPOT! ...See you there!
Brian Byers and LuAnn Leonard—(Walking distance from our New Fave! ...We Brag.)
Great food, great service!
Best sushi I’ve ever had which Came as a surprise. All the food was delicious and the entertainment was wonderful.
Variety of issues. Left before even attempting to try any food.
The restaurant is very nice and had excellent service. Our waitress was one of the best I’ve ever had. They had live music which made it very enjoyable. It was great for my valentines date. I ordered a surf and turf and unfortunately it came out cold. I understand it was pretty busy due to the holiday, but come on. Nobody wants to eat a cold lobster tail and filet. I am never one to complain or send food back so i just dealt with it. Another thing i wasn’t very happy about is that they brought out my food first while my date sat there waiting for hers. Restaurants should never do this in my opinion and was kind of shocked that they did. So naturally, i waited for hers to come out and let my food get even colder. Luckily our server was super nice and funny and almost made me forget i was upset about my meal.
Good food. Definitely a little pricey for the location. The server tried a little to hard to be funny. She forgot to bring my girlfriend the second glass of wine she ordered.
We LOVED the brussel sprout appetizer. It could convert non-eaters of brussel sprouts. I enjoyed the sushi small rolls that were on special. My husband and brother-in-law liked the cavatelli, and my sister loved the veal marsala. The house red wine is several steps above most house reds. I would definitely order it again. Happy hour prices are a really good value. Service is attentive and friendly. With a baby grand piano, it's a good venue for music, yet the sound doesn't preclude conversation. In other words, the perfect night out. Blu Monsoon, a jazz trio (piano, bass guitar and drums) made its Agostino's Sushi Rock debut the night we were there -- great original music and covers. We were happy to discover the band will be back weekly on Wednesdays.
Food was pretty good. Tuna nachos were surprisingly very tasty. Decent sushi
Our second visit here and tried the Sushi this time. It was very good! We will definitely be back, but it will be hard to decide what to order; Italian or
Sushi!! We like the atmosphere of the restaurant also, nice mellow music in the background and we understand there will be entertainment some evenings!
Also, valet parking Friday and Saturday nights really helps at this busy area of Lakewood.
The service here was phenomenal. Loved everyone we interacted with. The food exceeded our expectations. I understand the concept is new, but I think it works, especially if you're craving sushi and your significant other isn't a fan, it's a win-win. My friend and I both got sushi and my son got ravioli with meatball and everything was great. Highly recommend!
Agostinos Sushi Rock is a unique combination of two of my favorite types of food. I will definitely be back and highly recommend this place.
Our first time at this new restaurant in Lakewood. We ordered Italian which was very good and authentic. Next time we’ll try the sushi!
The sushi was terribly done. Rolls were falling apart, rice was very uneven, and the quality of the rice was poor. Presentation was sloppy and one of our sushi plates was sticky. The quality of the fish was ok but it was hard to appreciate when everything else about the sushi was so bad.
Service was also intolerably poor. Our drinks took 10 minutes (soda), our dirty appetizer plates sat on our table for over 20 minutes, and the general demeanor was very brusque. The poor service did see unique to our server as the other waitperson in the restaurant seemed to be doing a fine job.
The manager did cut our bill in half and gave us gift cards. He stated that their main sushi chef just left and they were training someone new.
