Great food, warm friendly service. Great variety of wonderful tastes and flavors. Terrific!
We had an exceptionally good experience at Agora. I selected the restaurant for a dinner with friends who are avid foodies, and I ended up looking brilliant! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was off the charts. Our Turkish server provided excellent recommendations for both food and drink and was remarkably attentive throughout the meal, despite a packed restaurant. He made the experience so lovely that we all walked away talking about what a gem he is. We will definitely return for dinner and look forward to trying the brunch as well.
Excellent restaurant to taste Turkish food. Great service!
Agora is an excellent Turkish/Greek restaurant. Most dishes are mezze, designed for sharing. Everything we ordered was good, but in some cases--e.g., appetizer spreads and octopus--the portions were quite small. Overall, however, I would strongly recommend this restaurant.
Terrific. We are looking forward to our next opportunity to dine there.
I've been to agora a few times and overall love the restaurant. I went on 1/2 for brunch and didn't have the best experience. The service was slow, often forgetting things that we ordered. Also, the food didn't taste as good as it normally does--not sure if they had a new chef or something? I will go back but I was disappointed on this last visit.
Had a fantastic NYE brunch here, yet again proved why it is hands-down my favorite brunch in the DC area. Highly recommended.
We went for a Saturday dinner and had quite a few tapas here! Good vibrant ambience and service. All the dishes- chicken, lamb, veg and cheeses were very tasty and had fragrant herbs and spices that we enjoyed. Portions were a good size for tapas. The vegetarian options were equally well made. The apricot dessert recommended by our server was very good as was the baklava! Cocktails menu was a little weak but good list of ouzo and arak etc. Overall a great experience. Will come back!
Excellent food, fantastic service — took good care of us with helpful recommendations.
Food was great. Scallops we're perfect. Pleasant meal.
My wife , two young adult sons and I came day before New Year's eve for a pre-theater dinner. The small plate offerings from cuisine from Turkey, Lebanon and Greece were simply fabulous! Every single item was distinctive, very tasty and nicely presented. Service was impeccable and friendly, and the management quickly accommodated my disabled status which I had forgotten to state on my OpenTable reservation. We had the saganaki, bleu cheese flatbread, heirloom carrots, sauteed kale, mixed mushrooms, artichoke and celery root, grilled octopus, branzino, braised short ribs, and lamb loin. Servings were more generous than we expected and we couldn't finish the last couple of delicious bites, although we really tried!!! Every item was terrific!
I had a friend visiting from out of town and wanted to experience a great brunch. My reservation was at 1:30 pm. The general manager was very accommodating and attentive throughout our dining experience. She initiated ordering the spreads and appetizers. She ensured we were well taken care of and understood our options. I will definitely be back again!
Nice place, good service, good food, with relatively small portions, but tasty
Excellent choice for dinner prior to our Keegan theater show. Food was savory and delicious, served very quickly and the wait service was impeccable. You want for nothing at this restaurant, we will definitely return!
My relatives from Korea and my daughter and I were visiting DC for a few days and we found this restaurant and had a dinner there one night. It was superb! What an unexpected gem of a place! The seafood platter was amazing, octopus so tenter, Branzino so smooth and delicious. We also had a dip sampler which was amazing and the beet salad was very very good. I would recommend it very highly, worth visiting even from out of towners.
The food and ambiance was amazing. Met up with 4 of my best friends and one of their kids.
I love this place because the food is so good. Everything is prepared with great care and served beautifully. The ambiance is casual, not fancy, which suits me fine. I you like Mediterranean food, you owe it to yourself to try Agora.
Agora has the best food & service on 17th St, NW. It's always a delight to share a meal of small plates with friends there. Superb combinations of food in each plate -- I especially love the 3-spread sampler, the bronzino, they lamb loin, the zucchini pancakes, the beet salad, the cauliflower & the Brussels sprouts. The atmosphere is great and the service is terrific. Highly recommended to all.
Great Mezze of all types and very nice service. Good place for food that makes you feel good
Outstanding Mediterranean and Turkish food.
Highly recommend. Wait staff was courteous and knowledgeable.
Agora, made the start of the evening wonderful with authentic Greek and Turkish food served tapa style! Drinks, entrees and desserts were amazing!!
Agora is one of my go-tos for brunch with friends. I I've been like 20 times. I like the Turkish-style dishes and the service is almost Ottoman in attentiveness. They're always welcoming and kind. It's a solid choice for brunch or dinner.
I've eaten at AGORA many times, but last weekend I visited with a large group of family, including my two young nephews. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Before we could even look at the menu, our waiter came over and asked if my nephews would like some milk, and he brought out the milk in special kids cups. All of the staff helping deliver food, water, coffee, were super attentive throughout the whole brunch. I can't wait to visit AGORA again!
Amazing food. Amazing everything.
Excellent food we tried different plates and they were all good
We've eaten at a number of Mediterranean restaurants in the DC area and this was our best experience to date. Everything nicely seasoned, portions larger than many small plate restaurants. Nice wine list. The service was excellent. We'll definitely go again. The quality of the lamb chops was not as good as the rest of the meal, but otherwise they had everything we like in a restaurant.
Great night with very attentive server Ismail, friendly staff and awesome food
I don't eat out that often, but I'm becoming a regular at Agora for dinner before a play. I love their food, cocktails, happy hour specials, and friendly service.
We just moved to the area a few days ago and were craving the experience we had last night. It was absolutely amazing.
The service from Marija was great. She was welcoming and knew the answers to all of our questions, and she even brought me a rubber band to tie up my hair when I was telling my boyfriend I needed a ponytail to eat ! Hah!
The wine and food were extremely tasteful. We started with a bottle of the Rock & Vine Cabernet and it went great with the food. We then ordered the sampler of spreads and chose the Hummus, Htipiti, and the baba ghanouj, followed with the chefs choice cheese board. For mains we had the tuna tartar and the lamb riblets. Every bite of food was to die for !! Our personal favorites were the Hummus, Cheese board and the Lamb riblets.
The wine is a must and has a beautiful taste !
We will definitely be returning to this location, and we want to thank you for welcoming us into the city with a wonderful experience ! Cheers!
4th time we've been to Agora. It's not on the radar screen of those looking for the latest hot restaurant by Kapnos or Andres, but it's really excellent: Interesting and reasonable wine list and cocktails, great lamb and beef dishes (marinated, quickly grilled hanger steak!), a fantastic grilled octopus on pureed beans, imaginative flat breads. And very reasonable. We like it better than Kapnos on 14th St. And better than jaleos in Bethesda... Only Jaleos downtown is better (but more $).
Lively, happy atmosphere and attentive table service enhance the vibrant menu choices. We loved the Cypriot salad and the lamb kofte.
Our waiter was absolutely perfect. Extremely welcoming, very knowledgeable on the menu and wine options (we went with his recommendation and it was spot on) and very patient for a large group. Additionally we were there celebrating a birthday and he went along with the birthday surprise wonderfully. I wish I remembered his name! As for the food, everything was delicious. No complaints and will definitely be going again.
Delicious food, and great service. Amazing flatbread!
Great food and ambience. Wonderful taste. Will definitely come again
Excellent place and good service
Every dish we had was phenomenal! So many great flavors and combinations. Very authentic.
This was hands-down the best meal I have eaten since moving to the DC Metro Area over 2 years ago. Every plate impressed me, right down to the desserts. In addition, I left feeling full, yet not miserable. It was an overall great experience. I will definitely be back.
As ALWAYS the food & Service was impeccable! LOVE their Kadayif!
Agora is always excellent. Brought friends for the first time. Thought it was very tasty. Bread is always delicious & plentiful. Love the grilled chicken & lamb loin. Plus the kasick salad. Shrimp was also quite good. Turkish tea & stuffed apricots a really nice treat to end the meal.
