AGORA Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I really enjoyed our meal here. This is a small plate type restaurant so we ordered a number of dishes to share. The portions and prices were similar to other tapas style places we've been to, and we enjoyed everything. We are mostly vegetarian but eat some fish and found a decent variety of choices on the menu. The waitress was very attentive, in a good way. She realized right away that one of our dishes had not arrived and went to check without us needing to ask about it. The place is small and the tables are somewhat cozy, so not a place for quiet or private conversation. We were glad we had a reservation, because even at 5:30 they were fairly busy. They had a pre theater special menu, which several other couples seemed to be taking advantage of. I would definitely come back again.
My boyfriend took me to Agora on our first date and it's become our go-to Valentine's Day spot. Small plates and a cozy atmosphere, perfect for getting to know someone without being overly formal. The Ottoman rice and brussel sprouts are amazing, if you don't fill up on the warm pita first!
We love having special dinners together here. The staff is knowledgeable about the food and which flavors work together.
They change the menu periodically as well as make variations to certain dishes to keep things fresh and new. The baklava was good but not nearly what it used to be. They used to prepare it with Orange blossom and Rose water which added as lovely softness to the end of a wonderful meal,. Also they charged from pistachio to walnut which weakened the flavor so theT
baklava tonight was good just not great.
Saturday dinner, double-date seated upstairs. The bench seating is shallow and it felt like you could slide off. If seated with back against window, cold draft was an issue (Feb. 2018). Great food and good service--servers should encourage guests to keep a food and drink menu with them during their meal. Bread was served warm. I wish the server paced the plates--we were getting all of the vegetable plates first, then all of the meats all at once. We prefer to have veggies to compliment meat dishes.
Ambiance was casual and dimly lit (nice!). Noise level may have gone up due to us--catching up with friends. :) Will return.
Agora is consistently five stars! Regardless of whether the visit is happy hour, dinner or brunch based we are never disappointed. The entire team is welcoming and beyond knowledgable regarding the wonderful menu options. Lovely dining ambiance and always fun bar atmosphere too!
Thank you, Agora!
My wife and I went there this past weekend 1/28/2018. It was restaurant week and each person ordered two appetizers, two entrees (still small plates) and one desert. So for two people ready to share that is 10 different, and delicious options to share.
I am always a little concerned that little plates equate to not enough food. OMG no worries when you eat here. By the time we had raced through the bread and finished our four appetizers - we were no longer confident we could finish the job of eating it all. Though we did our best we left with a box.
We enjoyed every dish (well my wife does not like cheese so there was one she did not prefer). To be clear as a cheese enthusiast it too was great.
I don’t think you can go wrong on the menu. The service was great and the staff friendly.
DEFINITELY NOT MY LAST VISIT!! kudos to you Agora - you delighted us in every respect.
Agora is one of my favorites. A nice variety of hot and cold, veggie and meat small plates, with enough to share between two people. The chef changes some offerings with the season, but also maintains a majority of consistent menu items (hoping they never get rid of the Ottoman rice and Aegean delight for dessert!). During my most recent visit, it seemed to take longer than normal for our food to come, without any explanation from our server, but my friend and I were enjoying catching up, so it wasn't much of an issue. Would still recommend Agora for anyone who enjoys well-executed Mediterranean small plates.
Great service, wonderful vibe. We went for restaurant week, and it was a fantastic value. Highly recommend the hummus and cacik - both are great with their amazing pita and as a dip for the falafel. The adana kebap is also a must; super tender and delicious.
The appetizers were delicious, and the dessert was excellent. (This was the best baklava I've had in years.) Unfortunately, the entrees were mediocre. My chicken was dry, and the "garlic pita" turned out to have an overpoweringly garlicky spread, rather than just some garlic on the pita. My husband's kebab was better but still not great. Stick with the appetizers and dessert.
We went to Agora for the restaurant week lunch special for a business lunch. The food is a really good value, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend scheduling a business lunch here, but I will probably be back for a date or special occasion sometime in the future!
We have eaten at Agora at least 25 times. It is our neighborhood restaurant of choice. In our opinion the value is outstanding. The prices are more than fair for the offerings on the menu. Hot food comes to the table hot and cold food comes to the table cold.
It gets a little noisy sometimes but rarely so loud that I cannot hear my dinner partner sitting across the table from me.
Although the service can be slow at times, the servers and runners unfailingly are decent people who clearly are doing their best to make the dining experience as enjoyable as possible.
