Ago - West Hollywood Ratings and Reviews
Ago feels livelier and more fun than ever. The service is fine, the seating comforatble, and far enough away from others that one can talk, the specials always quite good. There is a real shortage of good Italian food in this zipcode, generally. Ago 's pastas and salads are perfect.
Ago is just plain good. It has been there for 20 years, but I hadn't been there until recently when friends took me. I thoroughly enjoyed it so I decided to get a group of my friends who are food professionals to go with me. I brought a magnum of aged Burgundy. Not a normal choice with Italian food, but a really good pairing. Waiter, Mr. Garibaldi, was a real character. Patio is delightful on a beautiful fall night. Food was excellent. One pasta which sounded good with sausage was disappointing. Lasagna excellent. Pizza very good. All more than acceptable. Nice dinner. Will go back.
I used to go to Ago all the time from 2007-2013 it was always great food and great people watching and great ambiance. I left LA for a few years snd recently came back to town so of course I had to go to Ago well I was so disappointed just by the cheesy music that was playing and the even more cheesy and obnoxious Maître de.
When we were ordering our wine the bottle we choose was out of stock he then told us no one drinks that anymore it was a trend mind you it was a bottle of bruniello. The food was ok my chicken parmagian came out shaped like a pizza but it tasted good. I cant knock the food but everything else was so bad I sadly will never go back.. I should have known when the entire inside of the restaurant was empty on a Thursday evening
Great food, outstanding service from our server, Eric. We enjoyed a delicious cheese and salami plate along with signature meatballs for appetizers. Main course, a wonderful special white fish and their hand pounded petto di pollo. Nice bottle of super Tuscan shared across the courses. Tiramisu for dessert! All were fantastic.
Classic Italian restaurant with great food and a very energetic ambiance! Service was ok, we felt like there were way too many servers constantly taking dishes and glasses from our table. It was honestly making us dizzy. It felt very rushed, which is not a good feeling when you’re having a fun evening with friends. They needed to let us take our time and not quickly grab our plates while we are still enjoying. Outdoor seating makes you feel like you’re in Italy, which is always a plus!
Service was horrible. Our food came at different times. Our waitress was not easily reachable. We got there at 7:30 expecting to leave by 9:30, but were there until almost 10:30pm because service was very slow. Asked for chili flakes when my entree arrived and I got them when my entree was almost over. Did not expect such poor service at such a restaurant. Had eaten there several years back and was very happy with everything including service. This time was a total disappointment. I don't write reviews but I had to write one this time. Fyi the manager was nice but experience was horrible. There were only 2 servers serving about 30 plus people in the patio area.
Very disappointed. Only 2 tables in entire restaurant that day for lunch yet our one course - an entree, took one hour to come out of the kitchen. Had to ask for the check 4 times. Lovely waitress but kitchen clearly very slow and then we didn't get the check. Steamed vegetables with the fish were soggy and tasteless. I order broccoli not the steamed vegetables, but the sent out the steamed vegetables and I had to wait for the broccoli. The vegetables had an awful fish taste like they had been steamed with fish or something. You should NOT Have to wait for food when there are 2 tables in a restaurant at lunch. And the kitchen should not get the order wrong when there are 2 tables and you should not wait for the check. Very unfortunate and how sad - used to be such a great place. What happened?!
Ago was amazing, and our server was impeccable. She explained the menu well and was able to anticipate our every need before we even asked. The pasta is delicious, especially the ravioli dish! This restaurant was memorable and helped to make our our Hollywood trip a special one.
I would definitely recommend this spot and I look forward to visiting in the future.
Disappointing. Horrible service. Surly waiter . Mediocre food. My veal chop was dry and tasteless. We were so neglected that by time the waiter checked on us ( 20 minutes) it was too late to order another dish. Would never return which is too bad because we dined there 6 months ago and the experience was fantastic.
I ordered a special pasta which was fantastic, but the other three ordered a seafood risotto special that was short on both lobster and taste for the price. We were only given options for still or sparkling water (no LA's finest), so we spent $30 on water alone. Service was lackadaisical at best. Overall, Ago was edible but forgettable.
Beet salad, not so much. A lot like a dole bag of spring mix, a few slices of red beets, a couple of walnuts and cubes Gorgonzola. Not impressed. The Lasagna and gnocchi were prefer good. Overall there are way better Italian restaurants in LA.
I had requested a birthday something which was ignored. When my ordered desert was not available the waiter delivered the other deserts then yelled across the table that mine was not available. Very rude! And unprofessional.
