AGO Bistro Ratings and Reviews
The food was excellent and the service top-notch. I had the grilled chicken salad with a Thai dressing. The toasted pecans added a nice crunch. It was delicious!
My friend had the PEI mussels which were cooked in pale beer and had a few grape tomatoes . Unusual but tasty. Looking forward to our next visit to the Gallery and lunch at the Bistro.
I used to love Frank but my meal was average. Steamed mussels were tasty but the fries arrived cold. The portions for the price were also small for both my meal and my friend's, who ordered pasta. In addition to a juice, coffee, sorbet and a donut, the bill came with tip to just under $80 which was an absolute rip off.
Have been coming here since 2008 when it opened.
First time the food was below the standard you set with Frank. Menu was unimaginative.
How about a great salad with high quality fresh organic ingredients?
I had 3 charred spears of romaine for $14. Low value and taste appeal.
we arrived at the hostess desk at 130 pm. The restaurant was 1/2 empty
We were told by the woman working there that the restaurant was fully booked and no openings. We said we would only be 30 minutes and she said no. It was hard to believe that every single seat would be used in the next 30 minutes.
We then proceeded to book a seat on open table and walked back to the desk and told her we had just reserved on open table and she seated 2 of us at a table for 4....
It was so ridiculous. She should be fired. She has zero customer service ability!!!!! My friend and I were so angry at the treatment. Not a good way to treat customers if you are trying to run this as a business!
Absolutely LOVE the AGO Bistro (formerly Frank). The staff are knowledge and the service is excellent. The themed menus that tie into the exhibits at the gallery are a delight. The food is delicious and they offer wonderful wines by the glass. A must even if you are not going to the AGO!
I was with business colleagues and we had just 45 mins. I had made a reservation and we were seated right away. Our server, Laine was amazing. She was thoughtful, insightful and got us out on time. The food was delish- burgers all around.
Would be back in a second.
First visit since Frank's became AGO Bistro and we were disappointed. Prices were high and choices limited. The squash soup was excellent (but not quite hot enough) and the pots of tea were brought out lukewarm and had to be returned.
Burgers were good as was the chicken salad but $78 for this kind of meal (no alcohol and no dessert) was too steep. We noted but did not order that it was $7 for bread.
It would have been nice to be able to choose from a few smaller plates for a light lunch.
My daughter and I both enjoyed our choices.
The service was excellent with an attentive but not invasive server who was knowledgeable about the offerings and honest about the quality.
We had a wonderfully quiet brunch and would return in a heartbeat.
Of course, we then went into the AGO shop to look around for unique gifts....two for one.
Our brunch experience at the AGO Bistro was PHENOMENAL!! I was blown away by the kind & knowledgable service. Every dish recommended by our server was impeccable - the quality, presentation & taste was so, so good. We can't wait to go back again! Thank you, AGO Bistro! :-D
I wish the AGO had not rebranded Frank. It used to be a destination in itself. We would go for a meal even if we weren’t visiting the gallery. The new menu is so very average now, even if well prepared and presented. Even if we’re at the gallery we’ll seek another dining option next time.
The hostess was professional and pleasant and was able to seat my party of 3 quickly. The server was very knowledgeable and informative. She was able to suggest wine pairings for the food and was able to answer my questions about the menu.
There is an open kitchen in the back and you can see that everything is clean. The food presentation was on point, and the food was very tasty.
We had the Fresh Pappardelle, Moules-Frites, and Burger. The burger was cooked medium and was served with fresh thin fries. It was able to please all palates from young to old.
The Fresh Pappardelle took a sweeter note with the use of fresh tomatoes.
I'm a sucker for seafood so I had to try the mussels. The mussel broth was delicious and it was paired with a mini garlic baguette. The fresh thin fries paired really well with the mussels.
If you are looking for seasonal fresh food I would head here.
I was hoping there would be a South East Asian influence in one of their mains. I think that South East Asian food made with fresh ingredients would be a great addition to the menu.
