Nice environs and a decent selection available in the menu
The food here is wonderful. I had the basic salad which they had pickled the vegetables. YUM!!! The burger and fries came with an Old Bay aioli sauce. The aioli was not spicy which was nice. The burger was cooked to perfection. I had a raspberry gelato which tasted of raspberries. For the price, it was an excellent experience.
The menu was very limited, Friday night we were hoping for dinner after the show, all the bistro had were appetizers. When I did booking there was no mention that entres are not being served. We left feeling hungry!! We came to see the Warhol exhibition, which we loved!!
My first meal inside of a restaurant in approximately 18 months and what a terrific experience. The Host's review of proof of vaccination was quickly done and I was invited to choose from three tables. The server was attentive, informative and very pleasant. The planked steak, frites and salad were perfect, in that the steak was grilled to medium rare with a chimchuri sauce on the side, frites had some bite and not overly salted or greasy, and the pretty salad was lightly dressed with lemon and olive oil. The Trius Winery - Merlot was a perfect pairing. I was in the upper level and I appreciated watching the chef's prepping the food. A really enjoyable evening in a gorgeous restaurant within the Art Gallery of Ontario.
Perfect for a meal before or after visiting the gallery
The food was excellent, the service was good and the attention to covid protocol was outstanding. We would definitely eat there again.
Staff were friendly and professional.
Careful to confirm that we were fully vaccinated. Lots of space between tables. Fabulous grilled cheese sandwich.
Great spot for before or after visiting the AGO. Definitely recommend the negroni!
The food was terrific- delicious and beautifully presented. Our waitress was stellar-she has waited on us before and is always at the top of her game-friendly, helpful, fast. There was good spacing between the tables and we felt safe.
Exceptional service and wonderful food. Have had lunch there many times and the meals are consistently excellent.
Pleasant, gracious and good quality.
E could have been better, and I can’t wait for the return of brunch menu.
COVID measures in place but affect opening times and menu. Excellent service and delicious food more than compensated for any inconvenience. Looking forward wits full reopening.
excellent meal, great food, great service,
highly recommend going to AGO Bistro
Service was great. Well spaced out dining
I sat at a high top table at the top level on the inside. Good view from up here. Great, friendly service and attention to detail. I ate the BBQ chicken with half salad and half fries. Exquisite taste for everything! Truly superb food. I plan to return to this Bistro. Covid protocols in effect and very clean environment. Very convenient to eat here before (or after) visiting the gallery. Or maybe just drop by for a meal. Take out service available.
Fantastic Fall me it. I had the kimchi club which was delicious and so not your usual club sandwich.
Just ho hum. Salad had no dressing but my friend had slight amount on hers. Rose on offer was from a can- no thanks. Grilled cheese sandwich was ok, that’s it.
Enjoyable indoor dining with the COVID protocols meaning the dining room was not nearly as busy and bustling as it was pre-COVID, so we enjoyed the relative quiet. Food was very good and service was excellent. Menu choices are reduced and prices increased.
Great service, ambiance and food!! Loved it!
I needed only a light lunch, and the tomato soup with a mini, two bite grilled cheese sandwich, floating on top, was just right. I was glad I had booked a table as the restaurant had many upcoming reservations and people were being turned away. I will be happy to enjoy another lunch there on my next AGO visit.
Very attentive service
Very diligent on COVID protocols
Everything was satisfactory. Our waitress was efficient and very pleasant. A good experience.
Service was excellent, we had Michael serving us and he was so pleasant and attentive. The food was very good (I had the bistro burger), and the mixed drinks were excellent.
The salmon and green sauce was excellent. The salad I had first with pickled vegetables was wonder because I could taste the vegetables. I finished with a cheese board that had crisps, three cheeses and more pickled vegetables. Reservations are recommended. It was getting full even at noon.
Accessible and welcoming casual dining. A carefully chosen, well-prepared and interesting menu with something for everyone. Friendly, efficient service. We would definitely visit again.
Good food with great service. Nice stop before catching a show at the AGO.
Thank you so much for reopening and offering the same great service and food as before.
This was my first time at this restaurant since years ago when it used to be Frank’s. The food is now less upscale but still good quality. The service was very good, although I could have used a refill of my water glass. On the other hand, the place filled up and the servers were quite busy. I would eat here again.
Attentive service. Knowledgeable staff. 4 of us went for afternoon tea. Exceptional covid-19 sanitizing practices in affect. Food was fresh and delicious. The only thing missing was clotted cream. We are looking forward to a Christmas tea.
We were very impressed with the outstanding service that our waiter/host provided. However, other elements were not as impressive.
1. The pastries and sandwiches were not anything special. Pretty much what you would get anywhere else in Toronto.
2. The tea collection was very good but all our pots were lukewarm. We did follow our host's advice to order our pots one by one to have hot tea, but it didn't seem to work as expected.
3. The ambience of the cafe was very nice and modern; however, it didn't add to the experience. I would have preferred a more traditional setting.
The food was amazing. Wish a bit more as I enjoyed it so much. The server was so nice and I love for the afternoon tea you can drink as many teas as you want. It made for a fantastic visit to the AGO
Where can you feel comfortable eating during this difficult COVID time? AGO’s Bistro! The tables are far apart, the staff is masked, the room is airy and filled with light. And the food is beautifully prepared and presented. Afterwards, a visit to the gallery itself makes for a perfect afternoon.
The AGO Bistro is a calm, safe dining experience, with lovely ambiance, friendly staff, and keen attentive service.
I will definitely continue to invite friends and family members to share a meal prior to visiting the gallery.
Thank you for your respectful considerations throughout.
Had high tea, only on for weekends in September. Food was very good, complimentary Mimosa, and excellent teas. Quite pricey, though.
My daughter and I wanted to go to the AGO and booked the afternoon tea which she has never experienced.
It was delicious but pricey.
She’s 18 years old and couldn’t drink the mimosa. I feel that the bistro could have given a discount for an underaged person.
Other than that, it was a lovely afternoon.
Went for the afternoon tea. Very good COVID policies. Service excellent. Afternoon tea food 7/10. Was happy they allowed us to have as much tea as we wanted and could try multiple flavours.
Great brunch and felt super safe during covid had a great time. I’d recommend it to anyone looking to not wait in line for a delicious lunch. Also we missed out the afternoon tea but there will always be next time.
Best burger I've had in a while. And the take out pie was really good.
Was a great idea to get us oldies back into the building
I didn't realize a third of the menu was sandwiches (what sounds like an actual dish on the menu, is actually a sandwich). I think it should be noted on the menu when a food item is a sandwich. When I inquired about the food with the restaurant staff prior to booking, there was also no mention that the items that sounded like dishes were actually sandwiches. The sandwiches were nothing fabulous and the bread tasted like yesterday's. At the very least, the bread should've been fresh. The quality of the ingredients, in all the food items, was mediocre for the price. The cost should really be about half of what it currently is, per person, to match the quality of the food. Conversely, the teas and the service were fabulous, We were able to try all kinds of very nice teas that were served in beautiful tea kettles and pretty tea cups, by very attentive and polite wait staff.
