Comfort Food
One of the Frank Gehry-designed spaces, AGO Bistro is conveniently located on the first floor with access from Dundas Street. The restaurant is casual chic: modern Danish furnishings are paired with acrylic tabletops in a multitude of vibrant colours. Etched glass and vertical-grain Douglas fir also accent the space. With a dedication to using the best local produce, menus reflect seasonal changes and availability. Ingredients are sourced from the finest suppliers and farms, and are cooked simply to showcase the natural flavours of the food.

We always love the food at the AGO Bistro. We were disappointed not to see lots of Ontario wines on the menu.

The staff were helpful when we needed to add a fifth to our table of four. Wonderful brunch. Lots of choice and good for our gluten and dairy-free gang.

Onion soup was excellent. Cookies for dessert okay but without flair. Fogo Island cod was good but served with lentils and fennel was dull. Expected more from the food at this restaurant. Service was excellent.

The food was excellent but the portions were very small, even for a high end restaurant. My companion ordered an Irish coffee and the wait staff brought him a cup of coffee with a shot of Irish whiskey on the side. Is that a new trend?

Excellent food and drinks. Service excellent, too. The regular full time bartender is an artist, too, so don’t overlook sitting at the bar and enjoying expertly made cocktails. Highly recommended!

The menu is small but still offers good variety and all of our dishes were very well executed. Service here is always outstanding. Cocktails are some of the best in the city!

Food was delicious. A bit on the pricier side but that is expected considering the location.
Ambiance is decent just lacking a bit of the view. It’s a fairly small place.
Service was great.
I do recommend to stop there at least once after visiting the gallery as it makes it the whole experience and the food is definitely worth trying. Bon appetit!

I've had really good meals at the AGO Bistro before, but our experience was unexpectedly disappointing. My friend actually had to return her meal. Her fish arrived cold and raw inside. It was taken back and re-heated poorly. My vegetarian pasta was mediocre at best, rubbery and salty, and I wasn't offered the option of grated cheese. My concern is that I've made a reservation at AGO Bistro for a three-person reunion. It's an important occasion and I'm concerned by this lowering of standards. I can provide details if I know who to speak to. The hosting (Kelsie) and service (Michael) were really good. Just the meal was poor, and in one instance inedible.

In our last couple dinning experiences here, food seemed to be severed with lukewarm temperature which made great entrees tasted substandard. This could have been easily resolved by preheating the serving plates and placing them under heating lamp while waiting to be served to the customer. Otherwise, it is still a good place to dine before and after a visit to AGO. Also it would be nice to see more vegetarian options.

Excellent Excellent Excellent experience. The staff are wonderful, knowledgable, & prompt with service. Pace of dining experience is not rushed & delivery of each dish is all timed well. My Fogo Island Cod w/ perfect lentils & braised leeks made this Newfoundlander smile w delight. Will certainly be back! Bravo

The Bistro never fails to deliver an exceptional dining experience.

Food was imaginitive and combined flavours and textures in ways that appealed to all the members of our party. A few more vegan/vegetarian options would be nice. (but what they had was delicious too).

We were pleased to be there with friends. Food was delicious ( we all had the duck pasta) but it wasn't hot, which was really disappointing. However, we didn't complain - didn't want to wait while it was warmed up! Our waiter was attentive and very pleasant.

The pasta was delicious. The sole was perfectly cooked, but I was surprised it wasn’t served with a sauce or at least with lemon. However, lemon was served once I asked for it.
The service was excellent. We sat in a private booth and although it was right next to the entrance booth, we were not disturbed. This is the second time we’ve eaten here and we enjoyed it.

We are AGO members and we had a lovely time there entertaining guests. Service could have been a little more attentive. Mainly I wanted to suggest that water glasses always be filled. Most nice restaurants, they keep an eye on the glasses and fill them when they're empty so you don't have to keep flagging them down and asking again and again. It's a small thing but it goes a long way.
