I had the burger with fries. The fries were average similar to fries in many restaurants. The burger was not outstanding similar to burgers in many restaurants. Acceptable Bistro food.
We reserved a quiet table for my birthday brunch. We got a very nice corner table. The eggs benedict were perfect and the service was timely and helpful. We are AGO members and we eat there often and then explore the exhibits upstairs.
Always high quality food beautifully prepared with a solid bar and wine list to back it up.
Had a reservation noting that we are celebrating a birthday. The food was just Ok for the price point. No birthday cake or anything to acknowledge that this was a special occasion. Why is the then the restaurant asking for reason for reservatioat time of booking - just to keep some stats for running the profit book?
Location is great for us AGO members. I did find the hamburger a tad pricey. That is the city.
Food was wonderful and Elaine our server was a delight and made the meal even more special
Although the service was excellent (i.e., the server replaced my soggy ff without comment) and was great at explaining the dishes, the food was rather ordinary and over priced for the portion size. I had the Benny which was basically two poached eggs on a piece of toast. The choice between pork belly and oyster mushrooms was creative, although pork was definitely overly represented on the available menu. The romaine salad had clearly been pre-mixed earlier and was more like a watered down Korean Kimchi by the time it reached our table. The Hot Pots were nicely spiced, but again they were more like 'cups' than 'bowls'. The setting is definitely kid-friendly although the kids around us were rather loud for our rather sedate birthday celebration. The highlight of our time at the Bistro was being together not the dining experience. Based on our experience, next time we'll reserve elsewhere for a Sunday Brunch.
Disappointing meal. Asked for a “Sukiyaki” dish that was more like a tepid broth, and Panna Cota for dessert whose texture was not a Panna Cotta. Overpriced for the quality of the meal. Will NOT return.
Food was pretty good. Service was very poor. Waiter got our order wrong. Kitchen was very slow, and then when they had to re-do my daughters order, the wait was terrible. So overall, eh.....which is too bad because the food was quite good.
The worst meal I have eaten in Toronto. An incredible disappointment after Frank’s.
For the first time, there was a bit of a problem with the burgers not being cooked long enough. No other food complaints. As to the 'ambience' (decibel level), it would be nice if the place were quieter but I feel that way about most of the eating places I frequent!
Ideal for pre or post exhibit viewing - often themes to special exhibits incorporated in the menu which makes dishes interesting.
The bistro is a lively not quiet place but seems like quite a happening kind of place. Felt special. It is a bit pricey. Nice to combine with a great show at the AGO. Don’t think I would go there if we were not attending the AGO.
We had a great lunch at the AGO Bistro: the food was delicious and the service was attentive. We enjoyed the following items.
The bento box special and the tart one were exceptional and the burger was very good
The bistro is a great way to end (or start or continue) a visit to the AGO.
Would prefer quieter music during lunch. Light jazz was played after two. Vocal yelling music not good for socializing. Lovely meal. Great service.
The food and service was excellent. The menu changes with whatever major exhibit it taking place and this makes a meal at the AGO Bistro interesting. Highly recommended.
Interesting menu, friendly service, good wine selections. Food arrived nice and hot, and I love the environment. Nice music in the background, jazz, not overwhelming. It’s conistently good!
Very nice lunch only drawback was that the pasta we were looking forward to having with vegetables had changed that day to a meat sauce. Too bad we opted for soup and salad. Not filling enough if this is your big meal of the day.
The food was good. I appreciate the kids menu. I took my niece and nephew 6 yrs and 8 yrs. They didn't get bored waiting for their food and really found it tasty.
Service and food was excellent - little pricey but the staff tended to my family really well. Noisy because of family day activities.
We were celebrating a birthday and thought it would be nice to try the AGO Bistro for lunch. Our reservation was for 2:00pm. 3 people. I asked the lovely server for the Lunch menu she said " we only offer brunch on The weekends" Then she said the kitchen close at 2:30 so we need to order now. It would have been nice to know this ahead of time as we would have selected an earlier seating.
My friend and I both ordered the $22.00 AGO burger stuffed with smoked provolone .. Very disappointing could not find the smoked Provolone in mine as well it was lacking in flavor. Not worth the $22.00. Our other friend is a vegan...nothing on the menu for him. The server did offer him an open food plate of cooked vegetable ( the weekend roast).
The AGO BISTRO should have last booking at 1:30 give one enough time to place order and eat Without feeling like we were In the way .
I think I will give them one more try , this time for dinner. everyone deserves a second chance.
AGO Bistro is a very attentive, competent, comfortable restaurant. The food was excellent, the hosting and wait staff were friendly and knowledgeable. It was a very lovely meal!
My wife and I were celebrating Valentine's Day. We have been to the AGO Bistro many times and knew that the food, service, and ambience would all be excellent and make for a joyful celebration. We were not disappointed! Thanks for a wonderful lunch. We would definitely recommend the Bistro and certainly will come again!!!
After our lunch, we wandered through the AGO Store and made some wonderful purchases to remind us of our Valentine's Day celebration!
Fabulous food, innovative section and great service. Nice atmosphere.
It was my first time at the AGO Bistro (Winterlicious menu) and it was a great dinner / experience. I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a unique spot to dine as well as enjoy the arts world as it is situated inside the AGO and close to several others galleries/art stores, etc.
My first time was during Winterlicious. Excellent service and atmosphere. I appreciate how it high class and gourmet without being pretentious at all. The food was great. Worth the price. If you tend to avoid high class places, you'll probably enjoy this one.
Great food and service. Very friendly and helpful staff. They had a computer problem with the wireless machines for credit cards. I had the cash and paid by cash. Would go again for lunch or brunch. Nice ambience.
Introduced via winterlicious program as a choice to try something different.
I was very pleasantly pleased with all aspects of the dining experience. Excellent service, very pleasant environment and the food was outstanding. Just the right amount of spices on everything we ordered as we were a party of six sharing different plates.
Although parking was a bit challenging it was well worth the trip and highly recommended.
Truly a great dining experience.
Came here for Winterlicious and had an absolutely wonderful time. Food was great. Very nice vegan options especially considering that out of 200 plus restaurants for Winterlicious only a handful cater to vegans for the full 3 course menu.
We attended to try the winterlicious menu. The food was flavourful and nicely presented. The staff is pleasant and provided timely service. Much to our surprise we were able to carry on a conversation easily in a large open space.
A recent winterlicious meal at AGO Bistro was disappointing. The cod croquettes were crunchy but lacking in flavour. The duck breast was tasteless, needed a better sauce perhaps, but even the quality of the meat was poor, very gristly. The Chai cheesecake desert was the best. The meal was small and overpriced at $43. I have had better meals at Winterlicious 2018 for $33.
Great brunch :) especially nice waitress. Will be back!
Awesome non alcoholic cocktails, food was good but limited for non dairy / gluten, but there were very knowledgeable about what was in the dishes so it made choosing a synch, we had the winterlissious menu but there was not much saving between a la carte and the promotion (at least for dinner anyway). That said we were treated very well.
We enjoyed the evening. Winterlicious was on but we dined from the regular menu. Desserts are not our favourite part of a meal so the special menu wasn't a choice. The waiting staff was very attentive.
Pleasantly surprised the food and their service were excellent
We came here for brunch and we were pleasantly surprised by the delicious fresh bake scone, definitely return for brunch.
The most enjoyable part is the the very good service by the staff. We had been to other
places where the staff were not friendly and this good friendly service means a lot to us.
The waitress was very happy to give recommendation for what item was good or better.
To us this kind of service is appreciated since we were all seniors. Everything was good.
We enjoyed the food. The presentation was very good.
The second part is the fact that the restaurant participated in the winterlicious event. For seniors this is great. Hahaha! We may go there for coffee after we see the work of Yayoi
Great place for drinks, especially before or after visiting the AGO. The feature cocktail was fantastic, and apparently it changes every day. Service was friendly and the ambience is cozy. Try to hit Cinq a Sept for good value. I would recommend AGO Bistro for any occasion, really, from business drinks to date nights.
We had another lovely meal here at the AGO Bistro (used to be Frank). The service is great, and the food is consistently very good. It's an excellent place to take visitors from out of town.
