About Agaves Kitchen and Tequilla
Agaves Kitchen and Tequilla is a Mexican-themed restaurant and bar. During the day, this is a contemporary restaurant with all of the modern decor and stylish furnishings one would expect from a restaurant serving the latest in Latin-Fusion cuisine. At night, Agaves turns into a full on dance club complete with house DJs, dance parties and bottle service available for reserved tables.
The menu contains many of the house specialties one would expect from a Mexican restaurant. Agaves also has several house specialties diners are unlikely to find anywhere else like the salmon talla, with epazotel, cordn esquite, red bell pepper coulis, tomato and zucchini relish. Another local favorite is the sea bass conquistador with a black bean puree, cilantro rice, fresh market vegetables, grilled nopalitos and topped with creamy poblano sauce. Diners should also be sure to sample Agaves robust cocktail menu, featuring several different types of margaritas.

Agaves Kitchen and Tequilla Ratings and Reviews
They just changed ownership recently, I came in on a Friday night, It was myself plus two, That evening (8pm) They where pretty empty. My friend that arrived before me, said the service was slow, I sat for 20 min before any service, I had to ask the new owner to assist us on placing my drink order , it took 20 more min to get drinks (on a empty night) They menu only has finger foods, Tacos... I had a potatoes & chorizo taco and my gf had the Tinga - neither of us cared for them, We had a drink each, plus nachos, 3 tacos totals and 3 beers, total was 80$. We had to get up and get our own silverware, we had to ask for service . Ive been here a few times before the new owners, Food has always been amazing, service had been great, even on crazy cinco de mayo.. I think ill wait to go back, if they step of the service and add plates to the menu. I can go anywhere for TACOs - I don't think the food/service was worth 80$.
Anyways - best of luck.
This place allowed guest to make Mother's Day reservations!!!! On top of that I actually confirmed the reservation 2 days prior to event date, and spoke to some one got thru and he then confirmed our reservation that was made for 12:15pm. The then began to explain that there was no special moms menu on that day it was going to be regular Open menu. On date of the event we arrived at location at 12:15 pm to come to find out the restaurant was closed bar stools were on top of tables indicating that they weren't anywhere close to opening!!! My family and I was so upset and appalled from this establishments way of bussiness, when then had to scramble to find a location where to celebrate a special day. So saddened that I yet haven't recieved a apology on their behalf especially after leaving them a message! Bad way to do business guys! - I have worked in the restaurant business for many years and that is not a way to treat any client.
I had made reservations for Mother's Day. When we arrived at the restaurant at noon, the restaurant was closed no one inside or outside. I called a number displayed on the window and a gentleman answered. I informed him that we had reservations at noon and we were outside the restaurant. He stated they had a gas leak the night before and had to close the restaurant. I asked why didn't they notify all the customers who had reservations, he responsed that they had called some. It was obvious they had not called any customers cause we were all in the front of the restaurant. This is a terrible restaurant because if truly cared about their customers
Someone should have been in front of the restaurant apologizing to the customers and providing gift cards or something for customers to return. Terrible customer service. Will not be returning.
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE PLACE TO EVER VISIT. I INFORMED THEM THAT I HAD RESERVATIONS AND THE MANAGER STILL SAID THEY HAD NO AVAILABLE SEATS AND THAT I COULD WAIT AND FIND A SEAT WHENEVER SOMEONE LEFT. MY RESERVATION WAS NEVER HONORED.
I WILL NEVER RETURN!!!!
I wouldn't rely on the reservation times and if I do go back I will call ahead of time to check on the wait time bc my reservation was scheduled at 8:45pm and had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. After being seated it took them another 10-15 minutes to bring out a menu and that was bc I asked for one. It was just poorly coordinated and service could have been better to make up for the waiting time. It wasn't what I expected.
IT WAS GREAT JUST COME EARLY BY 10 PM THEY START TO KICK YOU OUR OR HAVE YOU STAND. SINCE IT WAS SATURDAY IT BECOMES A LOUNGE/BAR . GLADLY WE GOT THERE EARLY 7ISH BUT STILL HAD TO WAIT FOR A TABLE SINCE THEY WANTED TO SIT US CLOSE TO THE DOOR. BUT BESIDES THAT FOOD WAS GREAT DRINKS ARE TOP NOTCH
My new spot very cool vibe the interior is urban cool OG dia de Los muertos style great back drop the music is smooth not too loud great for a chill drink or appetizers.
The food is a Mexican fashion and the list is long if you like tequila they have it all. I really like this place come check it out.
Agave become a night club atmosphere on Friday and sat night with live dj.
I love the having dinner here! My husband and I come quite often. When you walk in you get this urban, hip, Mexican vibe. We usually ask to sit on the patio. They have a Dj playing 90's music, which I very much enjoy (because I know most of the songs lol).
Now the food! Yes, you might think it is over priced, however they do use organically grown food and have a very respectable chef. What I love is that you will find food in the menu that will remind you of your grandma's home cooking (if your grandma was an amazing chef in the kitchen like mine is). Their guacamole is made at your table (always fresh), their chips and homemade salsa are addicting, so be careful! Really anything you order is delicious!
Oh and can't forget: if you are into spicy good, you'll love their jalapeño cucumber Margarita! It is definitely an explosion of flavors in your mouth. Their other popular one is their mango Margarita which is also amazing.
***NOTE: at 9pm the place does turn into a lounge and once all dinner guest are done they will move the furniture around to make room, because it does get packed!
Just finished eating at this incredible restaurant. Words just cannot
Express how satisfied I feel with not only the stellar service, but the
Creativity of chile Reno mariscos. The presentation, fierce taste, and
Excellent service truly make this restaurant shine among the stars!
I'm very surprised by some of the comments here. This place deserves a minumin of 4 stars. The food is full of flavor, and has an awesome combination of sauces and spices. It taste like a fresh healthy twist on mexican food.
We ordered the Table side Quac.. Seasoned and spiced just right.
Wife had cheese enchiladas - I didn't try but she really liked them
I had the 3 item combo - Asada Taco, Asada enchilada, and Relleno.
It isn't your traditional mom and pop lard filled, greesy mexican food. It is something you see on Bobby Flay. Fresh ingredients, flavorful sauces. i didn't have a bad thing to say about the food, actually I only had great things to say about it.
I have seen complaints about price, but what do you expect, they do put out a very fresh product, have an extremely expensive location, so you are going to pay more. But, the product they put out met my expectations.
This is our first time at Agaves, we love the decor, i ordered the spicy mango margarita and very refreshing and very good drink, our server started slow because she is the only one at the time, but everyone in the restaurant is helping her including the manager, when the other waiter came in, the service is great, both of them are very attentive, we ordered the seafood platter and we both enjoyed it a lot , love the tortilla soup ( very different from the traditional ) . Our only complain is there should be no television in the dining area , we got distracted by the two t.v. screens while enjoying the food and having a conversation, other than that, it's thumbs up from both of us and we will definitely comeback again
When I and guesses arrived at the restaurant: 1:45pm, reservations @ 2:00pm.
CLOSED, Nothing, NO One !!! Not only our Thanksgiving but a birthday on top of that.
Called several times to confirm, left messages with my phone number, nothing. And then Closed!! Couldn't tell you about my experience, had to put something (required).
Thanks for Nothing, that's right NO Thanksgiving and NO birthday celebration.
Horrible service, online menu/prices do not reflect those of the restaurant, no brunch menu, all the employees seemed confused, no one knew we had a reservation, champagne ran out. Overall it was a very uncomfortable environment and I expected better services.
The fajitas were nothing out of the ordinary. The chille relleno was bare but the marisco cream inside the relleno was nice and different. The rice and beans need some improvement if you want customers to return on a regular basis. Lastly, no tacos on the menu...head over to Padres and taste their tacos, you can compete if you can put something together as unique and tasty as their tacos!
