Came here for my birthday lunch today with my dad today and was disappointed. We ordered the three amigos which came out with barely warm queso and old tasting chips. He ordered carne asada tacos and I ordered chicken fajitas. The waitress brought fish tacos and when I explained to her that he didn’t order the fish tacos, she argued with me about what he ordered and said he was saying pescado, but eventually took them back. She ended up charging us for both the fish and steak tacos. Overall the food was good but the service was definitely not.

We chose Agave as who doesn’t want Mexican on Cinco de Mayo. 1st you couldn’t get a frozen margarita, 2nd my street tacos came out cold, to point homemade corn tortillas were hard, lastly server seemed annoyed because we said something and you could tell we weren’t a priority for him. Asked for a straw at beginning, never got one. Tried yo get a lid for our to go cup, that was a debacle. If you’ve ever ridden in a taxi in St. Thomas you need a lid lol. And heaven forbid you just get a trio sampler (with chips, salsa, queso and guacamole) and need a few more chips. The waiter literally said “nothing here is free”. Sometimes it’s just how you present information to guest.

We ate here during carnival, and the place was almost empty, unlike last time when there was a wait for tables. Definitely recommend a reservation. Last time we ate at the bar bc that was the only seating so reservations. This time at a table. Big screen TV was showing the Carnival adult parade, and our server’s sister was there marching, so it made for Nice ambience watching it with the staff. Food is so good and plentiful. Definitely a place to eat!

There was a large table that was screaming and yelling the whole time. The entire restaurant was loud. Our server was much more interested in visiting with some locals than serving us. Food was just okay.

Really enjoyed our meals- three of us had burrito bowls (chicken, chorizo, and grilled shrimp) - all very good. And my wife had tacos. We started with chips and tres amigos (salsa, queso, and guacamole) - loved all of it. It’s in a busy part and f Ted Hook so can be a challenge to find parking but it’s worth the hunt! Had a great waiter too- we will try to stop again while we’re here.

The management is lacking at this place. The servers are overstretched. The drinks were watered down, which appears to be a trend in St. Thomas. The food quality is low. Food is brought out cold or lukewarm and tables are not served food together.

Food and vibe is always great. However, the service was extremely slow and not focused on details or follow up. Multiple people showing up to drop things off. Had to ask or remind server(s) multiple times for the basics like plates, waters, utensils, etc. Most importantly (and not in a good way whatsoever) they seated our family of 4 (we had reservations for over a month) at a postage stamp high top sort of table. At first I said that wouldn’t be acceptable and the hostess sighed and gave me a dirty look so we just went with it. I regretted every minute thereafter as we ordered every course and the room to eat was ridiculous . Our kids had to share both of their meals over one plate as we couldn’t fit the dishes and plates for the food. We will definitely be back as we love the place but much improvement needed on service side for sure.

Made a reservation thru OpenTable, and received confirmation yet when we arrived (on time) they said they didn’t have our reservation because “OpenTable didn’t work.” They were turning us away when they suddenly “remembered” a table. Food was great (skirt steak tacos). The guacamole and queso dip appetizers were delicious. I just expected better service from a restaurant/bar of this caliber.

We had a wonderful experience as usual in Agave in RedHook. There was a lil bit of a rush all the crew started helping even the Manager jumped in and helped, those guys are amazing! Food was on point, we had the Carne Asada Fajitas and the Pineapple Pork Enchiladas.

Please keep in mind when using Open Table to reserve this restaurant it is NOT the Agave in Charlotte Amalie but the Agave in Redhook. There is only an address for the Redhook location and if you are not aware you can get caught like we did. We liked the restaurant when we finally got there.
